Salvation through baptism in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth for the remission of sins.

Get this thread back to baptism, which is the topic.
Yes, it seems we have been off-topic for some time now; quarreling over whether or not "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" is a name or whether "Jesus Christ" and/or "Jesus of Nazareth" are different names from that; and other such things.

Indeed, Jesus Christ is not a name. Jesus Christ is a person. But the phrase "Jesus Christ" is a name; it's a name of the person, Jesus Christ.
The way Jesus instructed persons to be baptized is by using title.
The Father
The Son
The Holy Spirit

This is the FORM for baptism.

If you wish to discuss what is a name and what is a title, you should start a new thread.

I think that we have pretty much exhausted that topic for discussion, anyway, wondering. I'm pretty certain that I defeated his argument.

Of course, Peter was not disobedient to Jesus' formula when He baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in Acts 2:38.

It depends on what you're discussing.
Jesus, and for clarification, of Nazareth, is a name. It denotes a person.

In baptism, which this thread is about, The Son, is a title.

We do not baptize in the name of Jesus.

Peter did, in Acts 2:38; and it was also the formula used throughout the book of Acts.

There may be another Jesus who has lived in Nazareth at some point in history.

To be even more clear, we say that there is none other name under heaven among men whereby we must be saved, than the name of "Jesus Christ of Nazareth" (Acts 4:10-12).

Of course, Peter was not disobedient to Jesus' formula when He baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in Acts 2:38.
He was not speaking of the FORMULA for baptism.

He was distinguishing between the baptism of John and that of Jesus.

Remember, John said that after him would come one that would baptize with fire and the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 3:11

Jesus is THE CHRIST.

Because you are a staff member and have power to discipline me even in a case where you might be offended, I feel that it is expedient for me to cease from talking with you on this subject.

You can go through this thread and see what has been said...but I feel that it is wise for me to not argue with you over it.

I know what you mean, but that doesn't make it a name.

My religion kids used to ask, at times, why Christ wasn't Jesus' last name.
