satan; the ruling god of this word.

Most of the time I think it is through temptations. Just as he did Jesus. Scripture says Jesus was tempted as we are so He knows.
But I'm not a big satan tempted me type person. I can do that all on my own, thank you very much.

But I do think there are times when he does throw a wrench in things, puts up road blocks, and uses people to do these things.
So if one is sure that God has told them to do something, go somewhere, or speak with someone and things keep happening to keep us from doing that, I think one could determine that it might be inference from the other side that needs to be overcome.

One of the most powerful weapons satan has against man is to convince man that he doesn't really exist or that he has no power at all.
The scriptures tell us something different.

How does he use people ? Are you thinking by possession or something else. satan was "physically" present to tempt Jesus.

Now that is a good question. from where I am at in my walk He and His demons can posses a unbeliever, and then tangibly influence a believer from there. The thing that creeps me out the most is that it is for the most part "nice looking" to the carnal, human mind. Doing "good things" Helping "Humanity" making this planet a nicer and better place. And our flesh will not let it happen. And this is were satan hates us. He most desperately wants this place(world) to work! Just without God. He wants to say to God,"See, I didn't need you, I can do this all on My own." And satan can't control our flesh even if he "wants us all to get along" Or "co-exist"

In all reality, satan wants this world to work, he wants us all to get along and worship him. And He hates us because he can't control us. Ultimately He wants to be like the most High. And by that he wants to make this world work, just without God. Socialism, communism is satanic. Socialism is not overt sinning and sounds "good" to a lot of folks. However it is evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Yes I agree satan can possess an unbeliever or that they can follow him willingly. I'm not sure satan wants this world to work though considering his motives are to steal, kill, and destroy. He certainly wants people to think it can work though hence keeping them from seeking Yahweh.

First I have to say that I do believe that Jesus was tempted by satan in the wilderness. However, I do not believe that Jesus, who definitely was in the flesh, traveled with satan across the desert to Jerusalem where Jesus physically stood on the highest point of the temple, nor do I believe that they traveled together up on the high mountain where they could see all the land. I've always considered it as more of taking place as in a vision, like a prophet would have.

I'll slip something in here that maybe you would find interesting if you haven't done it already. Comparing Jesus' wilderness experience to Moses'. The three scriptures that Jesus quotes are all from Deut. just before they were to enter the promised land.

So what I think you were meaning is how does satan communicate in order to use people. I do believe he or his minions can possess a person and I believe that sometimes when some of these most awful crimes are committed those people are possessed.
In the scriptures we know people were possessed but did they always appear to be, no. They could function just like someone who wasn't.
I do not believe that a born again believer can become demon possessed.
I think that satan can enter peoples thoughts actually make suggestions. satan is the accuser, he accuses us. People will say that someone who is having a really hard time with say guilt, guilt that is for something long past and been along repented of, that it is satan accusing them. I believe that is true. The only way he could do that is through our thoughts.
If he is not a threat to us, why the warnings about him? If he is the roaring lion seeking who he may devour, he must have some weapons he tries to use to kill.
Should we be afraid of him, I am not, I have Jesus on my side. Besides that, Jesus pulled all his teeth.

Yeah it's possible the testing was in a vision or "in the Spirit". That is interesting the scriptures Jesus quoted are from Deut shortly before the PL. I didn't know that thanks ! It's also interesting, but not surprising, that satan edited Psalm 91 leaving out "to guard you in all your ways".

I also think satan can enter peoples thoughts but I can't find confirmation of this in the Bible. Do you have anything ? I also agree we shouldn't be afraid of him but I'm afraid for the people he tricks and blinds.

I can't think of any scripture that solidly confirms that, accept that he accuses us and tempts us and causes men to do evil things and there are many warnings to stand against him. Putting on the full armour to God... the fire darts of the devil....
The only way I can see that he could cause such destruction is by using men to do it and he must have some way of communicating his wants to men.

Jesus said satan was the ruler of this world.

Joh 14:30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no claim on me,

Paul said satan was the god of this world.

2Co 4:4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

How does satan rule and blind people to the Gospel ?
First we need to look at what else Jesus said, so we can take everything in context:

John 12:30-32, 30 Jesus answered, "This voice has come for your sake, not mine. 31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. 32 And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself." (ESV)

John 16:8-11, 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged. (ESV)

Although Jesus referred to Satan as "the ruler of this world," he also said that Satan was judged and his rule would end with Jesus's death and resurrection.

This is after the cross....
Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.

I believe this is when satan was cast out of heaven because he had been judged. he no longer has access to God's throne to accuse us and Jesus is there instead making intercession for us as our mediator. he was cast down with a third of the angels to the earth. he has been judged and still faces his final punishment.

Lucifer’s name meant lightbearer when he was created as he was a reflection of Gods brightness as one who had favor in the Lord. God changed his name to Satan, which means adversary, after he fell from heaven. God changed many names from one to another in the Bible to reflect his glory through them as a nation. Lucifer was created perfect in all his ways with beauty, wisdom and freewill. God placed him as the guardian or protector over the throne of God in heaven. He was entrusted with many possessions and found much favor in the Lord.

God created the earth and saw that it was good and he took Lucifer from Gods Holy Mountain and set him over the Garden of Eden as a covering cherub to watch over and enjoy all that was of God. As Lucifer was set in the garden iniquity was soon found in him as he defiled Gods sanctuary through pride in his own beauty and wisdom as he wanted all that was of Gods here on earth to be his own and iniquity soon filled his heart as he tried to make his throne above the angels and be God. Because iniquity was found in him God cast him and those angels who chose to follow him out of his holy mountain and cast them all down to earth to be trampled of all nations.

(Ezekiel Chapter 28; Isaiah 14:12-15)

So what do I see that happened in Isaiah 14 before 12-15?

Isa 14:1 For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.
Eph 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Eph 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

This happened at the cross that we are no longer strangers but are joined with the commonwealth of Israel and the covenant promises.
Then is goes into talking about the adversaries, the chief one being....

Isa 14:11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
Isa 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

One of the main things that Satan has done that does effect salvation and also growth Christ is to cause people to doubt God's word. Such as, "Unfortunately, the only inspired, perfect, pure, true word of God is in the original Greek and Hebrew. And we are all left here scrounging the original text(at least what we think is the original text) trying to figure out what God really was trying to say to us. Satan and man are just to powerful and poor o God was out duped and was unable to keep his word holy and pure, in the English language. This is why we need over 200 English translations."

First we need to look at what else Jesus said, so we can take everything in context:

Although Jesus referred to Satan as "the ruler of this world," he also said that Satan was judged and his rule would end with Jesus's death and resurrection.

Satan has been judged, and condemned, but the execution of the sentence is still future. He still wanders the Earth looking for prey atm.

Psa_47:7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding

Job 41:11 Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

Deu_10:14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD'S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is

Psa_47:2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.

1Co_10:28 But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof:

Yes Reb Yahweh is Sovereign over the Universe. :) Satan is an unwelcome visitor.

satan is subject to God.

Rom_5:17 For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Hmm I'm getting a vibe Rebs that you believe satan can't do anything unless God lets him.

Or, is his name Simon Peter?

31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat..." (Luke 22:31 NASB)

Satan has been judged, and condemned, but the execution of the sentence is still future. He still wanders the Earth looking for prey atm.
True but there is a vast difference between roaming the earth and being ruler. Not only was Satan removed as ruler with the death and resurrection of Jesus, Jesus was made King, and is therefore ruler.

Yes, it is.

]31 Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.

But in Luke 10:18 we see something different: ' And he said to them, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."' (ESV) This is speaking of Satan's expulsion from heaven, which had happened sometime in the past.

Besides, as I just pointed out to agua, Jesus is the current King and ruler, so Satan cannot be. The cross and the tomb were where the transferring of power took place.

Not sure of what you are asking. I was only showing how Lucifer had Gods favor and then how he lost Gods favor and became known as the ruling god of this world. Nothing more, nothing less.
