[quote="follower of Christ":1nuum9t5]What Ive noticed is that youre ENTIRE stance is based on what you THINK about Satan rather than what you can show with fact.
Thats typical for the KJVonlyer, from my experience and one reason why I started doubting the position from the start.

How else are you gonna warn anyone. How can you confront someone with this ugliness and never mention satan. I guess you can't. At least I can't think of any way out of it.
Thats really nice except that your satan argument is pretty much ALL you have used.
Satans work always affects the physical world...thru sin and corruption....so you certainly can SHOW us some physical manifestation of Satans work....such as 6 million Jews being killed in WWII, for example, or crime, violence, political corruption..something to show EVIDENCE that Satan has actually wrote all of these other versions to destroy the church.
Anything other than this 'satan did it' line ?
:)[/quote:1nuum9t5]

Yes. Here are several lines.

M't:7:12: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
M't:7:13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
M't:7:14: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
M't:7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
M't:7:16: Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
M't:7:17: Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
M't:7:18: A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
M't:7:19: Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
M't:7:20: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
M't:7:21: Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Let me tell you right now. You Westcott and Hort only people are some nasty bunch of rotten fruit. And you trample what is good and holy under your feet. Your churches are all full of pricks and briars. With your attacks on peoples intellect and God given discernment. You try to intimidate people with your supposed knowledge wisdom, with all of your worldly philosophy and rudiments of this world. If that's the kind of fruit that your pastors and teachers are gathering then they won't get me. I won't fall for their lies, their intimidation tactics or phony baloney teaching. I see the way you Westcott and Hort people attack others. It's downright viscous and cold. There is also nothing biblical about it. It isn't reproof it's simply worldly attacks.

I guess you are poorly informed about book editions and how they are updated. There isn't any noticeable or major changes that you can point out except for the exclusion of the apocrypha.
There certainly are noticeable changes in the wording/language used.
3:16 ¶ For God so loued ye world, that he gaue his only begotten Sonne: that whosoeuer beleeueth in him, should not perish, but haue euerlasting life.
vs
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(John 3:16 KJV)

Sorry...where again does that say the KJV is THE word of God ? I must be missing it :confused

Im sorry, when did demanding that you SUPPORT your argument with EVIDENCE become an attack on your intellect ?
Your attacking OUR intelligence and discernment by expecting us to buy your story without demanding that evidence.

You try to intimidate people with your supposed knowledge wisdom,
Pot...kettle...black....mean anything ?

And still not a single word to support your KJV only case.
NO one is attacking YOU poster..we're DEMANDING that you SUPPORT your assertions with EVIDENCE.
If you cant do so then why are you here ?
We done here ?

Two major points again for the READERS here.

1. IF the KJV were actually inspired by God then there would have been NO need to update or CORRECT anything...unless we're accusing God of not getting it right the first time.

2. The original 1611 contained the Apocrypha...*IF* the translators WERE inspired at THAT time then they were INSPIRED to keep it in there, in which case the catholics are right...it belongs in the texts.

ALL negative insinuations regarding peoples' character, name calling, and derogatory comments stop now or this thread will be locked. If anyone needs to refresh themselves with the TOS, now would be a very good time to do so.

Any argument given must be supported or it is considered conjecture and also isn't good debating practice.

Thanks for the heads up :)

Thats really all Im saying here.
I can post pretty much historical fact that the original KJV contained the Apocrypha and that the KJV had to be corrected a number of times.

Did God inspired Paul or the other writers in such a way that the originals were WRONG and had to be corrected ?
I wasnt there so I make no claims, but if God could get it wrong the first time, then He is no God...which I do not believe at all.

The original HAS to be perfect for there to be any claim to inspiration from God.
The fact that the KJV WAS corrected and no longer contains what the original did shows in a fairly conclusive manner that the version of the KJV used today CANNOT BE inspired.

Ok, here I am. Man, honestly, 1 1/2 pages of not much of anything since I last posted here. :confused FOC, I meant what I said about prayer vs. pride and it wasn't targeted at you specifically. But... one of you should have swallowed some and let the other have the last word.

Ronnie, I also mention W & H but do we really need the name calling?

Free, a very Godly man from my church once told me years ago that NIV stands for...

Nearly Inspired Version. :D

Now, lets discuss this on the basis of the merits of one's preferred translation and forgo the mudslinging.

Thank you.

But... one of you should have swallowed some and let the other have the last word.
So then again, vic, youre insinuating if I/we respond then its out of pride.
:)

That is not at all what is being said. It is the manner with which one responds, the attitude behind the response, that needs to kept in check.

If I were a person with a very low IQ... by the grace of God... I could read any version of the Bible and still be given the entire truth. So the rest of us shouldn't have to worry about what version we read.

The Holy Spirit, alone, imparts the truth of the Word to us.

Our human understanding will fail every single time...no matter what version we read.
If we're supposed worry about satan putting words into some particular Bible, I have to wonder where faith and the leading of the Holy Spirit comes into this discussion. I reject the notion that we need concern ourselves over which Bible we read.

Agreed
Unless there is some VALID reason for rejecting a translation, such as one that I can think of that I believe they arent going to release in the USA anyway, at least they hadnt last time I looked, then its just a matter of preference.

I use at least 15 different versions and I have yet to see any reason that ANY ONE of them couldnt be used exclusively by any believer. There simply isnt enough of a difference overall to even worry about it at this point.

So. Why all of the silence?? Is no one going to answer my question? The one very important question that I asked earlier in the thread. It may appear that I answered it myself, but those are my thoughts. I want to hear yours. You all fancy yourselves to be such well informed and insightful people. Please provide me with the information that I requested. After all if you are of God then you will be glad to provide me with the answers. See here.

2Tm:2:22: Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2Tm:2:23: But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
2Tm:2:24: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2Tm:2:25: In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Tm:2:26: And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Now please. Kindly tell me why so many Christians believe that a pornographer who has been called the Prince of Darkness holds the true and pure Word of God. Not only this but they believe they will not go wrong getting God's Word from this man. This same man who owns the rights to and publishes the satanic bible also holds the true Word of God?????? I am confused big time!!! Or am I? I am not as confused as you'd all like to believe that I am. That's for sure.

I'd say you are more than confused.
You come close to sounding possessed.
Perhaps if you stopped giving satan so much power, you wouldn't be so afraid of his ability to affect the Word of God. Christians are protected from satan's wiles.

Ive gone on so much that Im now having to deal with it in the background...hardly been 'silent' at all.

Firstly I dont use the NIV.
Secondly the PUBLISHER isnt necessarily the person who TRANSLATES.
As far as a PUBLISHER goes, its all books regardless and its all money....that includes some of the money grubbing publishers who print the KJV simply for the cash. :)

.

.

Another point here, since were bashing publishers now, is that I think someone had better research the MAN King James himself. He wasnt exactly a saint.
So if we're going to toss out the NIV because the publisher is owned by a company who also owns the company who prints the Satanic Bible, then we also have to throw out our King James bibles because the man its named after was a sinner at best and at worst a closet homosexual...

Throughout his life James was rumoured to have had love affairs with male courtiers...
