should a woman actively own a church?

Actually the church is Jesus'. However people are overseers. They build the structures and do stuff related to this.
So should women be overseers or presidents but have male pastors run the spiritual headship stuff (as some believe it's unscriptural for women to head the man or manage the congregation as a pastor)?

It is not just a belief, it is actually stated in the bible.

can an individual own a church?

CE the Greek word for church in the new testament is ekklesia which means a group of called out individuals. Owning a church is a misnomer. People can claim ownership on a building or organisation, registering it and call it a church.

Acts 20.28
Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.
The real church that Jesus founded is not owned by women or men. The church has Christ as its head.

Can you name one?

there's a local megachurch that calls church members "part owners" or something. The head pastor was, I think, called CEO, they have a board of directors, etc.

I think that's the way (Protestant) Christianity is going in 21st century America, at least the bigger churches. I'm not so sure I"m down with all that, but it seems that the corporate mentality has crossed over into the religious realm (shudder).

Can you buy stock in the church?
It might be a good investment, unless they go south to Guyana.

they had a stewardship class/group or something. they have a new pastor now, cuz the former one went to rehab and such. he's got a new company telling pastors how to grow their churches.

Big business, for sure.
It makes being a pastor these days as a very attractive position.

thing is...there are some die hard believers in the mega-church and I don't think they're that much different than many other more conservative Protestant churches (this place is loosely affiliated with the SBC).

pastors shouldn't have to live in poverty, but...I dunno. There's gotta be a better way to handle things.

Do the letters to the churches in Revelation not show that Christ is the head of the church and that he owns the church?

To me he makes it quite clear that he is in control, they are his Churches.

From my understanding other than the letter to the church of Philadelphia the other six were admonished and called to change.

when the anti-slavery movement began gaining serious traction in the US, some people compared the state of southern slaves to so-called "wage slaves" up north, and came to the conclusion that, hey, at least the southern slaves were generally taken care of in a paternalistic fashion. the wage slaves up north often lived in abject misery, too.

Sometimes, I don't think things are that different for a lot of people, both here in the US and abroad. Capitalism --does-- help, but it also creates a few winners and a lot of losers, at least in the beginning stages, and without government intervention.
