Should/Do radical Christians exist?

I have heard some Christians say: "I am a radical for Jesus". That's sorta religious extremism!

A friend of mine (now late) who was a musician had an album. One of the songs says: Radical For Jesus.

Is it right to be a radical Christian (in the context of extremism or whatever they have in mind for saying that)?

Radicalness for Jesus is normally seen in the young immature new believers...and so this zeal itself is seen as immature. Over time they usually become as dead as the others...as in numb to spiritual things. But is numbness really maturity?

Then there are others.... ;)

And they'd always say: And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.,

All the secular humanists around me think I am radical.

Extremism is one of the big problems in the church. Any good thing taken to a polarized extreme is dangerous and destructive. I've been singing that tune about the doctrines we argue about for several years now. We get too polarized to one side of an issue and end up missing the real truths about things.

For some reason man, by nature, can't imagine that truth isn't always necessarily black or white. Sometimes it is, but many times it is not, and can often be found somewhere in the middle of opposing views.

It is good to passionately, and humbly, serve the Lord. (Many radicals are anything but humble.)

I have never heard of or met any radical Christians ... but have met some "fanatic" Christians desperate to save the lost. :shrug

Wonder what Paul and Stephen would be classified as! Freaks? Radicals? Maniacs?
Zealous for the Lord.

It is good to be zealous for the things of the Lord.

'Radical', or 'fanatical' implies misguided and uneducated zeal. Westboro Baptists come to mind.

Based on the 'English' language, being radical for Jesus Christ and taking Christ's teachings to extreme will make you live a self sacrificing life like Him. Not to be confused by taking Islam's teachings to extremes which will obviously make a Muslim a terrorist.

Yeah!
Someone like Paul seems a Jesus freak...most of us are willing to die for the Lord. This is the only positive case. Most of the apostles died mysteriously. What would you call them if you were an unbeliever? What would you call them as a believer?:lol
