Should Women Preach ?

Why don't women still have to wear a vail in church? Paul said they had to.

Is this what you're referring too?

1 Corinthians 11
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.

I talked about that before on this board' and because they don't today' aren't they in rebellion ? And also because they can speak in today's church are they in rebellion ? And because they can wear pants today in church aren't they in rebellion ?

I think that women have their place in the body. If they speak the truth and edify others and bring them to the Lord and increase His harvest then what's wrong with that?

I pretty much like Joyce Meyers also. I think she has a good message and yes, I'm aware of her issues with the jet plane and vanity and all of that, but I am not her judge. So she has a few issues, don't we all? So what. May the lord guide her path and her ministry.

Sorry Edward couldn't resist this sounds hilarious. I think we get a bit confused with the women pastor thing and learning anything from women. The only thing in question imo is if a woman can be a Shepard ( Pastor ) and not if a man can learn from a woman. The Bible has plenty of examples of the latter.

During the time I've been a member here, this topic has arisen at least twice. The last time, 2 years ago, the discussion went on for 24 pages until the new member (Carlos123) who created the thread in A&T ("Women are to be silent.....) departed on his own from CFnet.

I'm providing the link to that thread. If you wish to read the entirety of the thread, have at it. The link starts on page 15. Another new member, WoodlandApple presents some interesting information on the topic.

Well, yes i know what the scripture says, but time is short and I don't think I would reject a woman Pastor in these times. If she is led of the Spirit and speaks a good message, then...I don't have a problem with it. I think that the technicality issue is moot and a distraction. We have bigger fish to fry than oh you can't be a Pastor because you're a woman and the bible says no to you. It may indeed and they may have to answer for it one day, but that's between them and God. If one is not comfortable listening to a woman Pastor, then move on and find another church.

The Lord does not change, so the OT still applys to us, however, the Lord has been swayed by mans words before and changed His mind about some things. This is true also. So, for all we know, perhaps the Lord has changed His mind about this issue and it is ok? We don't know. We shouldn't get hung up on little things like this.

Interesting Edward but maybe the implications may be deeper considering 1Tim2:14 and 1Cor11:10 . I'm guessing there's more than meets the eye in this but either way we all must make our own decisions.

How do you know that?

My thing is so what if Joyce has a jet she travels a lot preaching' so what's the big deal. If I had enough money I would have one to and I would still be a Christian.

The big deal is while people making wages tithe into her ministry she uses the money to pay herself a salary that enables her to indulge needless excess. I don't know about you, but I do not give to ministries so the staff can live in luxury. I expect my $20 or $200 to be used for ministry. I don't care how much someone rationalizes it, a summer house, or a private jet are not legitimate ministry expenditures. They're quick to tell us how we should be living self-controlled, disciplined, sacrificial lives while they buy their way out of theirs.

I know of a ministry in a foreign country where the whole family that runs the ministry is riding a bus for 12 hours to get to a VBS program they are doing. I can give to a ministry like that. They are themselves making bigger sacrifices than the supporters of their ministry are making. This is the model that Paul left for us to learn from. Ministry is NOT a career choice on how to retire by age 50.

whoa guys this thread is on women preachers not prosperity preachers....

when threads go off topic most often it implies they have run the coarse
