Sinless Mary? Another Roman Catholic myth...

Was Mary sinless?

I keep my bible close at hand when reading these forums because I don't have it memorized like many of the people who post here. And I don't have volumes on the teachings of the early church fathers who learned directly from the Apostles.

So even with my lack of knowledge, I have to ask this: Why do so many people go out of their way to disrespect the mother of Jesus? Does He not want us to love and respect her the same way He does? Does he want you to attack those who display their love for her? Do you want to face Jesus on judgment day and explain why you went out of your way to show anything less than the utmost respect for His mother?

Disrespect my mother to my face and you'll get more than an e-argument. Disrespect Jesus’ mother and you'll have a lot of explaining to do. And at a very inopportune time.

Respect is one thing. Worship is another.

Respect is one thing. Worship is another.

I think I can speak for all Catholics when I say: We do not worship Mary.
We honor her.

Why do we honor her?

Ask yourself this: Was Christ perfect? Answer: Yes.
Yet, to be perfect He must adhere to His Father's Law, summarized in the ten commandments. The fifth commandment is to honor your father and mother.
This word, "honor", comes from the Hebrew word, "kaboda". Which translates to, "giving glory to the greatest of one's ability".

By honoring Mary, I as a Christian, am imitating Christ.

Simply stated: If she's good enough for Christ, she's good enough for us!

God love you!

I am personally convinced that John 19:26-27 is a statement that tells us we are to regard Mary as our Mother. This is not a big surprise to thinking people since we believers are in the body of Christ her Son. We are all the disciple that Jesus loved. We are all to take her as our own.

The notion that Jesus was doing nothing more than appointing someone to take care of his mom after he died is simply naive. Honor thy mother.

...Vic, you need to learn to place things in the perspective of time. Of course, the wilderness was not Egypt when that was their home.
Oh, ok... no problem. 8-)

The Church also embraces the representation of the Church in the passage from Revelation. Though, looking at the verse symbolically, Mary did "flee" when she and Joseph fled to Egypt with Jesus as a child... so the interpretation does not entirely contradict Scripture.
This may come as a surprise to many... it did to me, but most of Revelation is OT-like or should I say, OT-based prophecy and not about the Body. I prefer to entertain a literal interpretation, if one exist, over and above allegorizing.

That is about the most ridiculous thing that I have heard on this forum yet. Are you for real?!

Tell your mom I said hi ...... after she resurrects from her grave!!

Well solo, I already am quite aware of your naive disposition. Perhaps you were unaware that this belief is quite common. Some intelligent people out there have a bit of difficulty doing your mental gymnastics that change "Behold your son" and "Behold your mother" into "Hey, John feed my mom okay?"

And you wanted to believe that Jesus was finding someone to take care of his mommy right? You distorted your mind into believing that "Behold your son" and "Behold your mother" meant, feed my mom.

Now THAT my friend, is ridiculous.

You have the stiff-necked stubborn spirit of the Pharisees and like them you convince yourself this is a good thing.

As if a vote can make mary sinless? :o This is all made up.

2 Peter 2:3, "In their greed, these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their destruction has long been hanging over them and their condemnation has not been sleeping."

So where does the sinless Mary come from? :o It's not in the bible. It's therefore made up.

Jesus said; "I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."

When Jesus says there is no one born of a woman who is greater than John the Baptist, he means there is no one born opf a woman greater than John the Baptist.

I'm sick of people who call themselves Christians who think Jesus is a liar. There's no excuse or defense of it. There can be nothing more arrogant than self-serving "Christians" who think they know better than Jesus. If you want to know what's true or false, listen to Jesus. He's who you're supposed to worship, remember? But some people simply like to argue even if it's with Christ's words, just to see their words in print. It's disgusting.

If you want to regard Mary as your mother, go right ahead. That is the most ridiculous thing that I have heard on this forum. I suppose you pray, "Our Mother who art in heaven........"

Mary is not even close to being anyone's mother except her own children, all of them. You my friend are not one of her children. You are deceived, and probably do not know who the Father is.

Mary is in her grave until Jesus returns when she will be resurrected with the other believers.

You don't focus too well do you Solo?

It doesn't matter if Mary is in her grave or working down at Wal-Mart.

Perhaps you will get a clue one day that God is your Father because you are united to his Son. And when you get that enlightenment, perhaps it just might dawn on you that Jesus had a mother too.

Solo, I feel sorry for you. Convincing yourself that everyone who does not think like you is deceived will never make it the truth no matter how badly you want it to be. Truth exists quite apart from what you want it to be. I pray that someday you will realize this and then perhaps you will be able to seek for truth like Jesus taught instead of adopting something that suits your itching ears.

Every response of yours smacks of the very same thing. You do not address the issue at hand and try to demonstrate why it should not be accepted. No you resort to these self reaffirmation mantras of yours just like the JW's do.

"Perception"? You mean we get to say the bible means whatever we want it to? So I can say that Joseph was divorced because I want to and pass it along as the truth? In that case, why don't we just throw the bible up and make up our own stories based on our perceptions? yeah, then we can play God ourselves. But that's what the catholics do anyway.

What part of Christ's words do you not understand? Do you not know who John the Baptist is? Or how about the word "greater"? Does it mean someone else is greater? What do you think a made-up gospel is?

Do you even have a clue? It doesn't appear so.

So since you don't know basic word definitions, then nothing you say can be trusted. You need to first read the dictionary before you can understand any of Christ's words!

Mary has absolutely nothing to do with my salvation. It doesn't matter that she was Jesus mother, other than she was a swell gal. Your statement that Mary should be looked at as our mother is RIDICULOUS. And to say that she is God's MOTHER is a laugh as well. God doesn't have a mother. He has been here way before Mary was in existance. Mary was the man Jesus' mother who is God incarnate. Quite a difference of understanding. Your feeble understanding of truth needs help so while you are praying for me in the pharisitical way that you thank God you are not like me, you should pray to God for assistance in your unbelief and to forgive you for being such a proudful sinner. That way the beam can be removed from your eye before you attack those that have a speck.

It doesn't do any good to argue with these lunatics, Solo. They could care less what the bible says. But as Peter and Paul say, their destruction has long been hanging over them. Only the devil will argue with the bible.

You are absolutely hopeless and unteachable. Nobody here is talking about your salvation or whether Mary has anything to do with it.

It doesn't matter that she was Jesus mother, other than she was a swell gal. Your statement that Mary should be looked at as our mother is RIDICULOUS.

Oh really? You don't know much about history do you? Or do you have your own imaginary version of history that suits your liking too?

And to say that she is God's MOTHER is a laugh as well.

Please explain to me that the child she mothered was not God okay?

God doesn't have a mother.

And you betray your own contriving again. What happened Solo? Forgot that you insist Jesus is God? Did he have a mother?

He has been here way before Mary was in existance.

Oh, so you ascribe to the surrogate mother heresy do you?

Mary was the man Jesus' mother who is God incarnate.

Oh so there were two people were there? Jesus the man and God the Son - two persons. Is that right Solo?

Or have you not realized the word "mother" is a relational term that has at least one other PERSON in view?

Quite a difference of understanding. Please provide scripture that says that Mary was sinless and the mother of God. if you cannot, then again, it is a made-up gospel. So instead of attacking others, put your money where your mouth is and back up your words with scripture. But since you cannot, because it's not in the bible, then your words are empty and meaningless.

Why? We are not talking about Mary being the Mother of God? We are talking about John 19:26-27.

You have to be quite daft to claim Jesus is God and then claim Mary is not the Mother of God and that is the point.

And where did this sinless business suddenly come up? What is wrong with you people? Are you all nuts?

I thought you were only playing a role of being an idiot, but I am becoming concerned. This thread's Header is, "Sinless Mary? Another Roman Catholic myth..."

Perhaps you should take a break and go play.
