Slain in the Spirit

Mysteryman,

Minister don't pray that you'll fall down. They touch you in response to a prayer request and sometimes the anointing is so strong it knocks you off your feet. The power of God is on you and you lay there and bask in it for a while.

I used to be in the occult. I communicated with "angels" that I now know are demons. When I got radically saved God showed me what they were and revealed to me the darkness. I now have the gift of discerning of spirits, I do not "see" them as demons, but I can "see" spirits on a person, it is a different type of seeing than with your physical eyes. Well, I not only see darkness, I feel it too (I'm an empath, a blessing and curse, lol). I have felt both the presence of God and the presence of demons from practical experience. When I have been "slain in the Spirit", a term I don't particularly like either, I KNOW its the presence of God. How do I know? Because I have been intimate with both the spirits of darkness and with the Light of this World.

And believe me, THE DIFFERENCE COULD NOT BE MORE MORE OBVIOUS!!!

Hi

I use the Word of God as my source and reference. I do not use someone's experiences , nor do I accept someone's personnal feelings about an experience.

I always want the scriptures to line up with my spiritual walk. And this so called, like it or not, slain in the spirit, is not support by scripture.

For instance, you said that you "felt" the presence of God. From the scriptures, I do not believe you can "feel" the presence of God.

As a Christian, I have the Spirit of God in me, and I feel nothing . I also have the gift of the holy spirit upon me. And this is the baptism of the Holy Spirit and fire. Yet, I am not burning, nor do I feel like I have fire upon me. Spirituality is not about feelings. However, evil spirits who possess can effect one's mind, even to the point that one will cut themselves . Even when Jesus cast devil spirits into the swine , they ran violently into the water and drowned themselves.

Loosing one's faculties, shows me that one is not in control of their own bodily funtions. And even if this is only a very strong spiritual influence and not possession. The falling down is evidence that the person is not in control. So something else is in control. And our dear heavely Father does not control us in this manner. God gave us the Spirit of a sound mind. A sound mind is always in control of their faculties.

Bless

This brings up another question..so by laying on of hands..can there be an impartation of what you have?
Is there scripture to back this up?

Well, Paul laid hands on Timothy to impart his gifting. Of course Paul was an Apostle. I cannot think of any scripture off hand. If I do I'll let you know.

Wow Mysterman, do I feel sorry for you! You don't believe God's presence can be felt? Let me tell you, you are missing out!!!

Not EVERYTHING is in scripture. Feelings must never come before faith, but faith will often be accompanied by feelings.

My opinion, you're a bit legalistic and you still need to go get yourself a good massage! I can feel your tension in every post!

man if only i could share my healing, tell me that it wasnt god touching me! and i know he did it, i felt it.

i will say this, that double edged sword is real. it hurts and it heals!

Mysteryman,

I have never been out of control of my faculties when "slain in the Spirit". I could move, speak or get up anytime I wanted to. It's not like I was unconscious or couldn't move or something.

faith those that expercienced that know that the case , those that havent think that we fall totaly loose it. no when we are on the ground we can get up and choose not to be blessed anylonger then we have to.

drunk in the spirit in another topic and i have been there, so full of joy and laughter that you can even concentrate.

Hi Faith

You said that you have never been out of control nor have you lost your faculties when you were slain in the Spirit.

Yet, this is what you have said happens too you

Quote faith: "They touch you in response to a prayer request and sometimes the anointing is so strong it knocks you off your feet."

Now, I am not a genius, but if anything knocks you off your feet. I would say that you didn't lay down, but that something caused you to fall down. And if something caused you to fall down, and it wasn't an earth quake or high winds, or something falling on your head knocking you out. That something overtook you and your faculties, so that you could not stand up, but fall down, not of your own free will. :confused

Well, I've actually only been "knocked off my feet" once, maybe twice. The one time I vividly remember being knocked back was a time I was not walking closely with God. Well, the more in the flesh you are, the more the power of the Holy Ghost will shock your system and knock you back. The other times it was like a light, gentle breeze that I just sort of floated down with (there are always catchers in charismatic churches LOL). There was an agreement with the Spirit, to follow His leading and gently fall back (don't know what would've happened if we didn't have catchers).

not get hurt. if you are truly slain by him he will protect the fall. i have seen this.

I say beware...this is exactly what we've been warned about. Watchman Nee has some words to say about how Satan uses man's soul power. This is not of the Spirit.
(c) He will confound the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works in man through the human spirit, but now Satan forges in man's soul many phenomena similar to the workings of the Holy Spirit., causing man to experience false repentance, false salvation, false regeneration, false revival, false joy, and other counterfeits of Holy Spirit experiences.

(d) He will use man as his instrument for his final. resistance against God's plan in this last age. The Holy Spirit is God's miracle-working power; but man's soul is Satan's wonder-working power. The last three years and a half (during the great tribulation) will be a period of great wonders performed by man's soul under Satan's direction.

In summary, then, we see that (1) all these miraculous powers are already in Adam, (2) Satan's objective is to control these powers, (3) in the end time The Point of Difference in the Workings of God and Satan

How should we guard against deception? We need to discern what is God's operation and what is the enemy's operation, what work is done by the Holy Spirit and what work is done by the evil spirit. All the works of the Holy Spirit are done through man's spirit; but the works of the enemy are all done through man's soul. The Holy Spirit moves the human spirit while the enemy spirit moves the human soul. This is the basic point of difference between the operations of God and those of the enemy. God's work is initiated by the Holy Spirit, but the enemy's work is commenced in man's soul.

I agree here, Satan can be very deceptive in his ways.
I can't tell when Satan is trying to mimic the Holy Spirit so on the safe side I avoid anything that that has to do with emotional spiritual experiences and the like. The safe route is just to cling on God's word alone, you can never go wrong that way. I've learned as a young Christian that emotions can be deceiving. Sometimes I would think the Holy Spirit was drawing me to do something but it turned out I was wrong and in reality it was my own mind that made it up. I don't doubt that some people have great spiritual experiences but I've learned to be very cautious in this area.

We used to have an old preacher here, by the name of Robert Harris. At one time he had a spot on local Tv, on Saturday afternoons. Towards the end of his half hour, he would answer questions sent in by viewers.

If the scripture was clear on something he would quote it, and give an application to the viewers question. If the scripture was not, he would simply say the Bible did not give a clear answer to the viewers question, and he would not attempt to give one. I always admired that man, he did not attempt to misinform anyone about anything, except giving a truthful answer where he could. So when the Bible is not clear on something, I try to avoid it. I was married into a Pentecostal family for years, and I had to avoid much.

Now as to what the Bible calls sin, and what it does not. Someone mentioned a sexual sin, and quoted the Bible says nothing about it. Oh but it does, its called uncleanness. That covers a multitude of wrongs the Bible does not have to spell out, and it does not mean the lack of bathing. :)

I have been slain in the spirit.

This is my story

It was a long time ago and we had a guest speaker/preacher and we broke off into groups. I was in the middle and had friends around me praying, and the past infront of me. I was super skeptical and was not going to let this guy push me down or do any tricks. I stood there praying trying to invite God's spirit into me. I was care to not fall down from just being relaxed. Then what felt like a Sword of fire passed through my knee caps and my legs gave way and I was on the ground. I didn't have any vision or "high" I did feel really positive and good. I would compare it to that feeling you have where you are half asleep and you really cant control your body/ to tired to will yourself up out of bed if tired, but i was not tired.

That's my story, take it for what you like, I think most of that stuff on TV is a show but there is some truth to it out there.

Fear God and not Satan. If you have a sincere heart then it won't be a problem now would it.
