Some of the best NT verses threatening loss of salvation

and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they were drinking from a spiritual rock following them. And the rock was Christ.1 Corinthians 10:4 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=1 Corinthians 10:4&version=DLNT

Was Christ indwelling these people or following them?

This has zero to do with my question.
Correct. Because your question has zero to do with what Paul said about these people. Because they weren’t born again through the Spirit. When you do come up with a Biblical, unassuming question, let me know.

Since this is a controversial subject, let’s use scripture as our basis for discussion.

Do you understand that His sheep, can indeed become lost?

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7

Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

JLB
Really JLB, I'm surprised at this.
The emphasis isn't on the negativity of being lost, but on the positivity of being found.

"And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, ".....Ephesians 1:13;

Who is strong enough to break the seal of God?
If you belong to God and you go astray, He will find you.

That’s just it, he is saved.

Only a saved person can “fall away” ; depart from Christ, under persecution.

Do you understand that the reason they are persecuted is because they are Christians?

JLB
That's false.
All the Apostles fell away from Christ when he was being persecuted.
But only Judas Iscariot was unsaved.
God brought the rest of them back.

Here is the question about born again Christians today.

If born again Christians practice idolatry, sexual immorality, lying, homosexuality, murder, adultery or the like, and die in their sins without repenting, will they be cast into the lake of fire?

Yes or No.

JLB
That question is an illusion.
It cannot be.
You misunderstand "being born again".
Go back to square one and start over.

would they have been truly saved .bac ? I FEEL A true born again child of God will return /repent much like the prodigal son. on the other hand we really dont have the authority to judge heaven or hell... this question will never be answered . on wed evenings i listen to a full gospel pastor coming in from work.. his message would be yes .. ON THE other hand say a southern baptist would say NO .. but we will single out homosexuality, as the SIN ..

My question as you know, has to do with today.

Current modern day life of a born again Christian.

Do list people need salvation?

Current modern day life of a born again Christian.

Current modern day born again Christians have been given to Christ.

And this is the will of the One having sent Me: that as to all that He has given to Me, I will not lose anything from it, but I will raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father: that everyone seeing the Son and believing in Him may have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day”.
John 6:39-40 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=John 6:39-40&version=DLNT

Born again Christians no longer practice idolatry or things like it. They have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit Who has washed them away. Your question assumes they still do these things, contrary to Scripture:

And some of you were these things. But you washed- them- away, but you were sanctified , but you were declared-righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

So what’s your answer?

If you really believe a born again Christian could never lie, or never covet or never commit adultery, then why drag this out?

Just answer.

This topic is deep and controversial. I've given it a lot of thought. I can't answer the question for sure, but I know one thing. There is a lot of verses in scripture which give me pause and scare me. Some verses do make it sound like one could lose their salvation...

Like all those who will hear, I never knew you. It sort of makes me wonder sometimes...do we really become born again at the moment of saying the sinners prayer and asking for forgiveness...or later on sometime. Sort of like how we are given the power to become sons of God...(John 1:12)

I called myself Christian for a long time, when I wasn't really practicing it or pressing in...He says pick up your cross daily and follow Him...daily.

The way I figure it is, we have to build a resume of trust with the Lord. Show Him, that He can trust us...to listen and obey. Even the prodigal son returned home.

makes me wonder about the tos rules encourage each other lift each other up .all this has turned in to is osa osnas i sure feel encouraged

You should feel encouraged.

Encouraged to obey your Lord, to walk according to the Spirit, and forsake the things of this world.

Most people understand the truth just by reading the scripture.

Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons,
1 Timothy 4:1

How can someone remain saved if they depart from the faith in Christ?

I was actually encouraged to, pray. To make an effort to obey more and to renounce everything to do with this world after reading through quite a bit of this thread.

I pray to be known in heaven and to know others there. When I was still in colorado, and the Lord had helped me so much supernaturally and even spoke audibly to me to tell me to pray for a Brother in christ who needed help...I thought about the scripture which says, blessed are those who have not seen, yet believed...I guess I was feeling sort of spiritually proud or something likr that and I actually took occassion once to pray that I not ever have a visitation, because I felt like I wanted to be one of those who have not seen, yet believed...

But then over time, I kept hearing more and more testimonies of people who had had visitations from Jesus, and the thought occurred to me that, those people could not ever be the ones who will hear, I never knew you, from Jesus on that day...and I regretted having said that prayer to not have any visitations! I asked forgiveness for that and asked the Lord, where are you? Come manifest to me and teach me...

I do some things only because the lord said to and I want to obey and walk in love towards all. I'm no spiritual giant but I have done enough that if, the Lord said to me I never knew you..I probably would be inclined to say, Lord Lord, didn't i...?

So there is fear and trembling. And He did say if we are lukewarm that He will spit us out...so I press in. In faith.

Amen.

You have a sincere heart, Edward.

Wow my morning devotional thing that I listen to in the morning was on this very topic and preached on the passage that says about those who will say Lord Lord on that day and the Lord will say I never knew you.

He seems to do that a lot to me. What is on my mind or what I pray about in the evening, is what He talks about in the morning!

Same thing.

They stop believing while being persecured.

JLB

So how can they be saved before they are tested? The ones on the rock believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. The parable says because they have no root. So when they are tested, they fall away. So how can you say they were already saved before any testing? Or saved for a while?

It's only the good soil that bears much fruit.
Luke 8:15
And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience.
