SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN US

Abraham:
Hebrews 11:9 kjv
9. By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
10. For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

We see here that the physical city in the promised land, is not what Abraham was looking for.

Salem / Jerusalem was built / established by men. Abraham was looking for a more spiritual city.

So this New Jerusalem where is it!

Not a physical place but a more spiritual existence.
Revelation 21:2 kjv
2. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Let’s look for some Human body Imagery.

God resides in heaven (our new man mind) contact point.

God can effect our carnal mind:

The Cerebellum may (?) be the carnal mind.
In history we thought the cerebellum was for balance and body control. Modern brain imaging IMHO shows thinking going on in the cerebellum. In fact they think there are more neurons in the cerebellum than the cerebral cortex. Good thoughts, bad thoughts, carnal reasoning, battles between our thoughts and the Holy Spirit.

To show us that imagery he described a tree planted on either side of a river clear as crystal. If you do a mid section dissection of the cerebellum it looks like a tree. Spinal fluid flows right past the Cerebellum.
( imagery at work)

The physical Jerusalem was a place of many battles, and a place where peace was looked for.
Our carnal mind is not heaven minded to begin with, and requires God to place the law in it.
Revelation 22:1 kjv
1. And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2. In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, andyielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Think for a time and I will get back.

So IMHO the cerebral cortex is where the mind of Christ lives in us.

The cerebellum is our carnal mind.

The third area is the heart,

Hebrews 10:16 kjv
16. This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;

So the desperately wicked and deceitful heart has a flesh heart after conversion.

The mind of Christ is above the cerebellum, and the heart is below the cerebellum.

So two influences (from God) battle it out in the central carnal mind.

Is that quoted in scripture just that way? No.

Romans 7:25 kjv
25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

In between these two areas is the New Covenant Spiritual Jerusalem. Our new ability to talk about eternal life. Sin will battle the Holy Spirit.

As a Mississippi redneck the imagery of the Bible allows a simple explanation. It does not require a 750 page book that leaves me confused.

Is it a perfect explanation? No,

There are a huge number of symbolic scriptures I hope we use to help us examine all this.

Nerves = angels
Organs = beasts
Metabolism ~ power?
etc.
