John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
The thief in this verse is Satan who wants to destroy all those who are of Christ own as he tries to steal our faith in Christ Jesus. In spiritual warfare you have to understand and recognize the enemy that tries to attack us on a daily basis. His favorite place to attack us is within the thoughts of our mind, especially if there is any doubt with those who waver their faith, which means those who have yet to completely put their trust in God.
James 1:2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. 5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. 6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

StoveBolts gave us the solution to combat against spiritual warfare found in Ephesians 6:10-18. I would also like to add Psalms 91 as these are the promises of God we need to be standing on.
Satan only wins if we allow him to win. He might win a few battles when we are in the flesh, but never the war if we stay steadfast in the Lord and walk in the Spirit.
