Read Hebrews 3 and 4.......Obedience to the Gospel is to REST in it.....follow that Command from God and you will never doubt your Salvation again.....getting THAT Burden off of your shoulders will Spur Love......Love Spurs the only type of Obedience that will impress God.....
Obedience to the Gospel is to repent. Repent means turn to God as your Lord; The One you obey.
It’s the call to turn away from Satan as your lord.
The way we obey the Gospel command to repent, to turn to God, is confess Jesus as Lord; the One who we submit to, to obey. It’s a commit to obey His Commandments, which is to love our neighbor as ourself; His children.
We must continue in that commitment to obey Jesus as Lord, which is to say, we must not depart from Him,
turning back to unbelief, if we expect to enter His rest. The rest to come, when He returns to remove the wicked and give us rest from our enemies. We also will receive immortal sinless bodies that will not die anymore, that no longer contain sin, in which there will no longer be the war, the striving of the flesh against the Spirit. That’s True rest.
Hebrews 3 —
For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. And Moses indeed was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. Hebrews 3:3-6
We will be counted as “His house”,
if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end...
not turning back to unbelief.
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you
an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, Hebrews 3:12-14
Same exact word used in Luke 8:13, rendered as “fall away”.
How can we continue in the faith, if we depart from Him?
For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? Now with whom was He angry forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? So we see that
they could not enter in because of unbelief.
Hebrews 3:16-10
These who rebelled, were the very people who came out out Egypt, led by Moses, a type of Christ.
These are not people who never believed, but those who as Paul says were baptized into Moses (Christ), baptized in the sea (water), and baptized in the cloud (the Spirit), then these covenant people returned to unbelief, the rebelled and were disobedient. Which is what unbelief means; disobedient.
These people of God could not enter His rest,
the promised land, because they would not CONTINUE to believe, and therefore they would not continue to obey.
But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. Hebrews 10:39
