The Angel Thread...

OK. Once, when I was 23, I was having The Nervous Breakdown. I mean, the ultimate one of my life.

So, I was out walking after having put some minor cuts on my wrists. hearing voices, etc. I heard a voice that said that I "sold my soul for cheap pills," but I'd "get a second chance." Cool, I guess...except that I got bashed on the head afterwards and then I was electroshocked (involuntarily). Oops. Maybe one of those not-so-nice angels? Hallucinations?

Anyway, now that I've shared that with everybody, lol...

...I believe in angels. I'm a Baby Christian, so I don't know enough to say how active/inactive I think they are, I just accept that they are, you know? One of my friends, her husband died recently, and he saw visions of angels before he passed on. I got to thinking...was he hallucinating? Then I thought...welcome to Born Again Christianity. Angels are real, and what better time to make their presence known than when someone's church-going, hard working, law abiding, Bible-believing, long time husband is about to die? His vision was a comfort and a blessing to everybody around, especially his wife.

I dont buy into the worlds vision of angels... the kind in a crystal shop... the ones on cards... Angels are Gods messengers..

You have to be careful to not get New Agey in regards to Angels.
Somethings just have to be left in faith with God.
We see only what God means for us to see.
If you see them "often" then they are probably not from God.

healthy skepticism. I wondered, too...still do...also, hallucinations towards the end of life are fairly common, and they usually take the form of one's religious beliefs, or so says google. LOL>

Yes, we need to keep on the solid rock of the Word, right? and not get too caught up in vague spiritual ideas. Blessings.

Awww... and I thought this thread was gonna be about me...

It is, we can't see you but feel your presence here. ;)

I did look for an angel that another Christian woman saw standing on my back porch.
She had come to visit. When she came in she had a funny look on her face, she just said rather quietly, 'there's an angel standing on your porch"
Of coarse I looked I didn't see it. So it was for her to see, not me.
Looking back a month or so later, I found my own reaction to be strange for me.
I was talking on the phone to my oldest daughter and remembered to tell her, I had forgotten to before that.
She was excited and wanted to know what it looked like. I realized I hadn't even asked. Which is really strange for me. I want to know everything! It wasn't like I didn't believe my friend, I did.

That is exciting. I would've been out on the back porch talking to him and asking for him to show himsellf and talk to me. :)
When I moved into this place, I (knowing about guardian Angels and such) walked the perimeter of the property and placed by prayer Angels in different spots for protection. I believe they're there, though some may not, and that's ok, because it sure didn't hurt to do so. Did you ever talk to friend later and ask what it looked like?

No problem Edward . Apology accepted ... plus we all mess up

Thank you so much sister! That means a lot to me. :) I learned a lesson here. That is the best thing about bad situations, if we can turn it into a learning experience, it makes it a positive. Not meaning to discount my wrongness in any way, but for me, I grow from this and that is good. I asked forgiveness from our Lord and I know that He is faithful and just to forgive us also. Praise the Lord for His longsuffering. :)

I'm not sure what to think about your first recount.
Your second one, well, I have watched an awful lot of vids about NDE's (Near Death Experiences) on youtube and many are very very similar, so I would tend to believe it. But! We do have to be careful, we know that Satan can disguise himself as an Angel of Light, so we have to test those spirits. Testing one of the Lord's Angels wouldn't be a bad thing for we are instructed to do so in scripture.Stand on that Word, use the Name of Jesus when in doubt, there is power there. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but with principalities and powers (spirits!), Powerful spirits! Test test test!!! DId Jesus come in the flesh? You bet. :)

I dont buy into the worlds vision of angels... the kind in a crystal shop... the ones on cards... Angels are Gods messengers..

We have to be careful for sure. From reading the Word, my understanding is that there are different types of Angels, and some are more powerful than others. Gabriel, for example, He is always delivering a message; Messenger Angel. He delivered the message of the coming Messiah to Mary. He also was going to deliver a message to Daniel, and was held up by an evil prince from somewhere and had to have Michael come to help him. Gabriel: Messenger. Michael. Michael is a warrior Angel and is always fighting and protecting Gods people, very strong. There was another Angel, (not sure if it was Michael, don't think so) who slew 185,000 Assyrians one night (forget the exact scripture) in protection of Israelites. Warrior Angel, verry powerful. Then a different type of Angel altogether different from the first two. Remember when Ezekiel was taken up in a whirlwind? That was an Angel who piloted one of the chariots of God, he looked like a Whirlwind is how he was described, like this:

:whirl (sort've)

My understanding of the powers of this Angel is mostly unknown, but according to a testimonial from a Pastor that I watched who saw one of these whirlwind Angels come into his church while a service was going on...that he was there to heal people of a specific nature. Something about those who have asked for healing but were lacking in faith or some such. It's been awhile since I watched it. So there is at least three different types I know of off the top of my head, and perhaps more, seeing in a couple different places in scripture how many Angels that the Lord has! A LOT.

Even if Satan took 1/3 of the Angels with him when he got booted out of heaven, he's still outnumbered 2 to 1. Ha!

I believe the Bible says that we as Saints will help judge the angels.

I agree. The problem is that many want to worship the angels. The angels themselves would probably say "Praise the Lord, not me".

Learning skepticism in 1956 and literally growing up in churches if it aint in scripture i aint buying...

Revelation 21 has a wonderful description of those who surround the throne giving glory to the One seated upon it.

Blessings.

Do you think they are the Saints?(that would be us).

Doesn't it also mention living creatures and beasts? I shall have to look again at the passage.

I like the description also of Jacob's Ladder, with the angels ascending to and descending from heaven.

Blessings.

Some angels are powerful and are not good guys as some have commented. Pray for help if they are too much for you to handle. It's not all harps and halos.

Why are God's angels not good guys?We are not taking about Satans demons. We are talking about the the angels who are in heaven with God.Their is quite a difference.

I agree. We have to stand on the Word. There is much to be said about Angels in the Word. I would also receive Words from a real Angel. I would love to meet an Angel IRL in Angelic form. Here's Chuck speaking on Angels. I don't think I would fall down to worship an Angel. They are not God. Yet, I think I understand why some have, because they meet them in Angelic form and as spiritual creatures they are probably intimidating.
