The Baptism that saves us Now

Note: Im a learner trying things on. Here to discuss with those that want to come to an answer.

The more I see 1 Peter 3:21 from surrounding passages. I am coming to believe that the baptism that saves us now is: God ____________________________________

Now First thing I probably need to look up is the term itself. But instead I am going to make a claim and either prove it true or false. With others who are searching for truth.

My answer is quickened by the " Spirit"

Which makes the presence of God our baptism
1 Peter 3 kjv

and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death* in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein* few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us* (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him
........................................................................
Verse 16 is about having a good conscience before man or God? My guess is man.. if you do what is right and someone accuse you the accuser should be ashamed.

So a good conscience before man is in -your righteous acts before man

He went to preach to the souls in prison because He was quickened by the Spirit vs 18

(One way I see that is by Him setting captives free.)

The reason I crossed out the passage is because they were all prepositions

So then we can automatically connect vs 18 to 21

But quickened By the Spirit...... the baptism doth also save us

Remember the so called great commission
Surround(baptise, identify, immerse)them in the presence of the holy trinity ( the name of the father, son, and holy ghost)

Ok Jesus was quicken by who? The SPIRIT

Question? Was removal of dirt off the skin ritual washings? Well what would be our ritual washing that gives us a clear conscience before God? JESUS Christ the resurrected.>>>>Christ Jesus

So is this talking about being baptized into His Death, or being immersed into His life?

But quickened by the Spirit, is the like figure...." "BUT" quickened by the Spirit>>the baptism that saves us.

Jesus said He always did what was pleasing to the father and the father never left Him alone.

John 15
Abide

Righteous acts before man are only done in Christ- as we submit our bodies dead.
As our hearts are purified by obeying the word.

Wait but righteous acts before God are caused by God based on the Love of God all found in Christ.

yet if our bodies our dead then the only way to live is by His life....So what does it mean to walk in the newness of life? One It shows whereever Jesus is we are, ruling with Him, next to the father ...Alive by the Spirit. Immersed in the presence of The holy trinity.

So if we are walking in the newness of life we are living by the power of the Holyghost. GOD who has manifested Himself in three distinct persons.

Just remember im trying this on...so don't eat me alive scholars.

The Baptism that saves is God.
God is I am that I am.
So Is God his presence? I'd like to think so

So lets use what is new to me Identification

Recall there where to words that were under baptism- to temporarily dip, and one that had to do with permanent change.

So dip the pickle in boiling water and immerse it in vinegar...recall from other post

What did the pickle identify with when it was permanently changed? The vinegar Solution?

IF WE STAY SURROUNDED IN THE PRESENCE OF God (his life)what would we identify with?

His Glory?
His Peace?
His Love?
His Joy?
His patience

And who can eat from these fruits ? people

In the end I believe the prefigured baptism is the quickening by the Holy Spirit.

And the Baptism is God (or God's life)who gives us a clear conscience before God..

Romans 5:10
For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life

My thoughts GodsGrace
I just saw the above.
Later...

1 Peter 3 kjv

and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak
How does one have a good conscience- being committed following Christ's example- one is quickened made alive
evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
17 For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death* in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us* (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him
.........................................................
The answer of a good conscience would be life.
Life from a quickening Spirit.

A quickening Spirit quickens our Spirit

The like figure is symbolic of verse 18- so water baptism is the like figure of the reality of Being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit.

And if the word is "appeal" instead of "answer"
I recall a statement ->what will you give me so that I will know this is true.

Now sense Baptism is seen as what one identifies with from how the term was used back when:

Then we can say that what you identify with saves you. Almost like from faith to faith

So while I can Identify with Him through the symbol of water Baptism which may be the way people can help to explain what takes place.

I can also have identified with Christ when I had commited myself to His teachings.

In the End it is God who saves through our identification with His sons life on earth.

This just came to me how God walked through some doves..let me find scripture ...John 15:10-12.. ill read it later. But I have a feeling this may help me understand the details.

Its not water that saves but God that can use the water to Save. God saves.

Very simple answer. Acts 2:38. You receive the gift of the Holy Ghost upon baptism.

38Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
In Acts 2:38, "for the remission of sins" does not refer back to both clauses, "you all repent" and "each one of you be baptized," but refers only to the first. Peter is saying "repent unto the remission of your sins," the same as in Acts 3:19. The clause "each one of you be baptized" is parenthetical. This is exactly what Acts 3:19 teaches except that Peter omits the parenthesis.

*Also compare the fact that these Gentiles in Acts 10:45 received the gift of the Holy Spirit (compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) and this was BEFORE water baptism. (Acts 10:47)

In Acts 10:43 we read ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins. Again, these Gentiles received the gift of the Holy Spirit - Acts 10:45 - when they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 11:17 - (compare with Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved) BEFORE water baptism - Acts 10:47. This is referred to as repentance unto life - Acts 11:18.

*So, the only logical conclusion when properly harmonizing scripture with scripture is that faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18). *Perfect Harmony*

There is one baptism and that's immersion in water for the forgiveness of sins. One Lord, one faith, one baptism. Eph 4:5-6
There is only one baptism that places us into the body of Christ and that is SPIRIT baptism, not water baptism.

Ephesians 4:5 - one Lord, one faith, one baptism.

1 Corinthians 12:13 - For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.

*Also see John 4:10, 14; 7:37 for the word drink(s).

Forgot about this thread.
What throws me off is the terms "like figure"
----->>>> would mean 2 figures are in the mix

That would mean both had symbolic representation. Or counterpart

*One could say the Answer of a good conscience is that God gives "water baptism"

But then that is one translation, for another word used for "like figure" is prefigured.

So lets go to the definition.. (#499)

Antitupos: representation, figure.

A thing formed after some pattern
.. thing resembling another, its counterpart

Counterpart- is something or smne that closely resembles or matches another, often in function or position. It cn also refer to a duplicate or copy, or one of two parts that ft or complement each other.

............

Pledge -your answer to God

So what did I gain from this: that since its :(not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,

but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
That the counter part could be our " life- quickening" Which could definitely be our answer to God for a clear conscience before Him. Since God is not the God of the dead but the living.

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us* (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

So depending on what word goes there you can get different ideals.

So one could say the counterpart of Christ's quickening is our quickening..since it can refer to being a duplicate.

So in this case the answer for a clear conscience before God is Life...

Which would make the Baptism immerse in God's presence.

Which goes back to the red sea the rock and cloud...the salvation for Israel through the red sea.

And what happened before 1 Peter 3:21
They would have a good conscience through righteous living. We make those who speak evil ashamed when they accuse us.

So it doesn't seem like what you are washed with is about you or I (as it is seperated fron us until we faith....It's God's presence we are in the midst of when we are entagled up in his work.

So it's who you are surrounded in that gives us a clear conscience before God.

Only to note :
But you are happy if you undergo pain because of righteousness; have no part in their fear and do not be troubled;

Why happy?

Just some thoughts on the baptism that saves us now.
