When did faith in God ever change since the beginning of time as it's always been about believing in God and being obedient to His commands. It all started with Adam with the commandments God gave to him and every generation after him including our generation today and forever.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Even from the time of Cain, many quit seeking after God just like today and up to the time of Christ return. This is why they refuse to hear God calling them.

But the person in which we agreed can respond in Faith doesn't know the caller, or Christ and the Gospel.

So how can he respond to the caller with an act of Faith that saves? That will result in recieving the Spirit of Christ.

The correct response would be to recognize and answer God's call to salvation and the act of saving faith would be to turn back to Him as one humbles them self before Him with a heart of repentance.

Well " repentance" is simply a turning from our way to the direction of the caller, and it's a mental turning from our way to His way. Thats part of the process, but isn't in itself an act of Faith that can result in recieving the Spirit of Christ.

Saving Faith is an act, based upon a Belief, sustained by confidence. 3 specific, maditory parts, that must be fulfilled correctly and maintained.

In your understanding, what is the first one of the three?

After we turn to the direction of the caller, we then take the first step of saving Faith towards the caller.

What does that step ( the act ) look like?

Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

The word of God comes by God orally in the beginning in Eden until the generations grew and He called His prophets throughout the nations in the OT to write down what He taught them so they could preach to others in other nations. This is how we got the teachings in the OT. What Jesus taught during His ministry was all oral as God gave Him what to speak and latter the Apostles wrote down their witness as they testified of Christ and what He taught while being here on earth. They took their message of Christ out into the world in every nation. God's word has always gone out to every nation as they came into being as God's word is our instruction in all of God's righteousness. Unless one is living under a rock all their life there is no one that has not heard the name of the God of all creation.

We can agree faith is based on belief that God does exist. Why not explain these three mandatory parts to me, especially since you do not want us to use scripture. What did God tell you these are?

No, belief is one of the 3 parts of saving Faith, but not in knowing God or His word in this instance.

The 3 parts are just a definition of Faith as in the verb form or application of.

So are you changing your answer to no, as per post 85?

Nobody comes to Christ, unless the Father calls them.

I think most would agree, that this calling out from the Father is the beginning of the Salvation journey.

My question to the group, is could the Father call someone out ( say before the scriptures were available to the masses 15th century ) to respond in Faith, even though they have never heard of Christ or the good news of the Gospel?

God has always called mankind to know Him and to worship Him.
Even before the bible....

Romans 1:19-20 explains this well:
19because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
20For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

When ANY man stands before God,,,even before the gospel, he will have no excuse to not have accepted God...because God has always made Himself manifest to man...

Abraham was justified, (declared to be righteous) when he responded in obedience to the Lord calling him out of his fathers house to the promised land, which foreshadowed the Gospel.


Later he was justified again when he was called to offer his son Isaac on the altar.


The many called and few chosen, is an example of being called for purpose, for laboring in the harvest of souls, as the parable indicates.


And when they had received it, they complained against the landowner, saying, ‘These last men have worked only one hour, and you made them equal to us who have borne the burden and the heat of the day.’ But he answered one of them and said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? Take what is yours and go your way. I wish to give to this last man the same as to you. Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?’ So the last will be first, and the first last. For many are called, but few chosen.” Matthew 20:11-16


Paul understood the difference between his calling as an Apostle, a steward of the things of Christ, and his salvation.

"Many" are called, out of that "many" , few are "chosen."
Well by the same token , the "many" are not all. The many are chosen out of a larger group who are not chosen, not called out.

Like I said in an earlier post, theirs alot to look at in regards to showing the evidence to properly come to this conclusion. It needs another thread about this specific topic.

But whether we agree on that or not shouldn't hinder the topic of this thread.

Salvation is done for a purpose. Christ did His work on Calvary for a purpose.

So my answer is both, salvation first and purpose second. They go hand in hand. You can't have one without the other.
