Only mean an inquiry, the church has a duty from Christ to teach only truth and to condemn error so an inquiry is made

There may have been some abuses but the idea of inquisition is sound

Examination is an inquiry

1 cor 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
