The Derailing Thread Part Two

I was thinking how contageous deception can be as millions believe it but there was never a mirror mirror on the wall but there was a magic mirror on the wall. Think of how much news there is, its just lies.

That's why we have freedom of the press. Someone will print the truth, even though others will print nonsense. One must use wisdom when considering the news.

The median 65 plus retiree health care cost is $5,200 per person. The range is $3,000 to $26,200. The 2nd figure is way beyond the average Social Security check.

Half of seniors have no long run paid nursing care need. 25% need sub $100,000 in nursing care. 15% need $250,000 plus in care.

So if you can't afford to carry Anti-venin, bring along a pack of chewing tobacco for first aid, till you can get to the hospital. Works for bee stings too.

I guess early retirement would improve health as its less stress.

Working a secular job from 20 to 50 tends to improve health (assuming a reasonably healthy job). Beyond 50 its counter productive. Older bodies can only take so much. They are not as resilient as younger bodies.

Of course, we should do the Lord's work forever.

I could not figure out why God commanded the Levites to retire from the work of the temple at age 50 and move into management. Then I turned 50. Now I know why.

Yeah, and they also don't recover easily.

I wouldn't know. I've got a ways to go.

Here is a calculator, based on historical financial asset performance, to let you know if you are on track to save enough to retire at 50. A 50 year old, withdrawing 4% per year (SEPP) from an IRA invested in an inexpensive 60/40 index fund, would have had about a 2.7% chance of running out before age 80. 3.6% chance by 90.

Just input your own numbers to find out how your IRA would have performed historically. Of course, the future is never exactly the same as history. It only rhymes. So allow for an additional safety factor.
