Thank you! She tends to be pretty disliked by the fandom, but she's honestly one of my favorites.
Most cited reasons are "she didn't let Gohan fight and it's her fault he became a lame nerd instead of a fighter" (which is the silliest reason ever), and they just feel like she's loud and overbearing--they use another word for it, but I can't repeat it here. Whereas I just see her as a mother figure and her being a little too strict is actually meant to just be funny. I think they do go overboard with that joke, but I also think it makes a lot of sense when you consider things from her perspective. Honestly it makes a whole lot of sense when I think about her actions and overall behavior and compare them to my mom.
lol True. IDK. People just like Gohan being a badbutt fighter and wish he had stayed that way--mostly fans who are in it for the action, I guess. I sorta did too at first, but after having seen so much of the series, that simply does not fit Gohan's character. For Goku, martial arts and fighting strong opponents is the best thing ever--he also fights to protect, but that is not his sole motivation. For Gohan, he fights to protect only, and only when necessary. So it makes perfect sense that he became a scholar instead.
