The Derailing Thread

"Love In The Library" by Jimmy Buffet

On the corner of Government and Bay Avenue
The old doomsday fanatic wore a crown of kudzu
Sirens where wailing in the gulf coastal heat
And it seemed like the whole world was in forced retreat
I paid no attention, revolved through the door
Passed the newspaper rack on the worn marble floor
Near civil war history my heart skipped a beat
She was standing in fiction stretched high on bare feet

Love in the library, quiet and cool
Love in the library, there are no rules
Surrounded by stories surreal and sublime
I fell in love in the library once upon a time

I was the pirate and she was the queen
Sir Francis and Elizabeth the best there's ever been
Then she strolled past my table and stopped at the stairs
Then sent me a smile as she reached for Flaubert

Love in the library, quiet and cool
Love in the library, there are no rules
Surrounded by stories surreal and sublime
I fell in love in the library once upon a time

She gathered her books, walked while she read
Words never spoken but so much was said
You can read all you want into this rendezvous
But it's safer than most things that lovers can do
Well stories have endings and fantasies fade
The guard by the door starts drawing the shade
So write your own ending and hope they come true
For the lovers and strangers on Bay Avenue

Love in the library, quiet and cool
Love in the library, there are no rules
Surrounded by stories surreal and sublime
I fell in love in the library once upon a time

I am getting this for my birthday cake this year.Layered Carrot cake with Cheesecake. And leave the raisins out please and thank you.

I showed that video to my brother because poop is his random word that he just blurts out sometimes. (Mine is potato. Or "I like pie".)

So do you have a fixation on poop? :chin There is no shame in therapy.

I was watching a video about C++ programming on Youtube last night, and that came up as a "related" video. I figured it was a good way to derail the thread, so I posted it here. It was only after I posted it that I realized that it came immediately after your post with the picture of the cake. I'm sure there's no relation between the two... or maybe there is. It depends on how you look at it.

Ah, so maybe another user name I have in cyberspace, 'cinbjarne', means something to you, perhaps?

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that user name. The first part of the name is the C++ command cin, to read something from the keyboard, and the last part - Bjarne - is the first name of the man who developed C++, Bjarne Stroustrup. Am I to understand that you program in C++? Can you do my homework for me?

Bingo! You just won the toaster oven.

Cin>> Bjarne

Kind of a way of entering into on-line communications. "Bjarne has entered the discussion."

Ha, kinda like one newbie leading another. :lol

I'm not at all proficient in C++. I'd love to be, but that isn't fitting into things right now. Doing a lot PHP programming, though. Which I like because the syntax is similar to C++.

If you do get stuck on something I might be able to help.
