WOW I.ve never heard THAT before, since you have you information from around the throne would you mind defining 'very soon now' in concrete terms ?Yes but the word around the throne is that it is very soon now.
Yet we have the blessed assurance that every passing day brings our salvation nearer then when we believed. And while it is true that the church, during all her history, has had repeated evidence that the day was approaching, we ask, what are these evidences in our time? Surely they are of especial significance.
Shortly previous to the first coming of Christ the Holy Ghost, although He had given through Daniel a special revelation unto the devout Simeon-who was 'waiting for the consolation of Israel', to-wit:' that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. Luke 2;26. And this leads us to ask: May not the same blessed Spirit who thus revealed this mighty event to Simeon of old (and probably the aged Anna also) likewise give unto a favored one, or chosen few of the faithful watching ones, to know that their glad eyes shall see His appearing, and that they shall never taste of death. Even so now, many of the most devout and faithful of God's people, in all denominations, both in this and foreign lands, are seriously impressed with the conviction, that the coming of the Lord is near.

W.E. Blackstone, Jesus Is Coming ,1908 pgs 210,212,213. Emphasis added , portions of this article were first published @1875.
How many times have you been told that if you would just listen to the Holy Spirit ,you too ,would be able to see the 'signs of the times'.? Something else that hasnt chaged in a century is the intonation that real christians, 'the most devout and faithful', know with certainty the time is near. You dont think its near because you're not faithful and devout,,,
Well ,at least, thanks to Mr Blackstone we know with certainty that the people he considered to be the most devout and faithful of all demoniations completlely failed in their predictions.
Ironically I was evidently explaining as you were writing.
Do you have any questions about what I said?
Yes.
Can you define your term concretely ?
very soon now
My guess is you'll be vague enough to leave a comfortable way out for yourself.
We shall see.
well that explains your saying 'very soon now '.That is just my way of saying it is the popular idea of the common worshippers most of whom engage in this same kind of speculation.
You don't see me much in the prophecies thread sections because I don't tend to speculate much about it.
Can you define your term concretely ?I am concerned that I just better be ready when it does happen and that is also my focus toward assisting others.
My only concern with prophecies is knowing what to avoid by heeding them but not trying to demand they happen at a specific time.
But to set a date??? No way. Sorry. Jesus said "No man knows the hour or day." It's that simple.
1 Thessalonians 5
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
Hi Parables,
I find the dating of the flood to be approximately 1500 AC (after creation). This would make it only 4500 +/- years ago. This also confirms with the Hebrew calendar.
A lot are based off the Mayan calendar which I believe mysteriously ends at 2012.
Sorry. Jesus said "No man knows the hour or day." It's that simple
I don't get this May 21, 2011 date. It's not on a feast day, not on Pentecost. The moon is waning gibbous about 4 days past full.
If anyone noticed, the Lord always fulfilled prophecy in accordance with the calendar and the Spring/Pentecost feast days were fulfilled at Christ's first coming at the time of the feast. There is nothing historically that fulfilled the autumn feasts yet, but God put them there for a purpose to denote His plan and prophecy (not to watch Israel party 3 times a year).
The feasts are: Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Pentecost, Trumpets Atonement and Taberbacles. (There are several others the Jews added to commemorate things such as Purim and Hanukkah but the feasts designating God's plan are in Levitcus 23.) May 21, 2011 is not one of them.
In Judeo-Christian tradition those who make false predictions must be put to death by law.
imagine how pumping the adrenalin of young impressionable people affects them, their hopes for the future remember how Christ rebuked the pedophiles?
Better an anchor around their neck ... what about false prophets who predict doom that doesn’t come?
Better or worse than pedophiles?
What about parents who physically/emotionally/sexually/verbally or psychologically abuse their kids?
Better or worse than pedophiles on judgment day ?
When Christ warns of the punishment of those who would harm "The Little Ones" does he mean children or babes in Christianity?
Just thinking out loud ken.
How many false predictions have we seen pass so far on this 4um
how many more fools will set dates?
predict dooms?
Saying clearly you are only presenting a model is different than stating an alleged fact.
poor 14 yr olds who might believe this stuff
run out and smoke crack, copulate with a prostitute, insult their parents, get kicked out, and fall into crime destroying their lives over someone’s prediction ... does anyone think about this before posting this stuff.?
the maya calendar isnt mayan ....... this is an errorThe Mayans and time setting. Just keep looking up, for that's where The Son of Man shall be.
Technically, the end of the world will be after the rapture, the 7 years, then the 1000 year reign. Then the battle of Armageddon, and only then is the world to end.
;)
1- The fact is that the antichrist will indeed dwell at the Temple Mount, as told in Daniel 11.
2- there isn't necessarily reason for anything to be built there, particularly if the antichrist is muslim.
3- However, if the antichrist is not muslim, there are indeed earthly plans for a temple, of sorts, to be built in that spot. There are plans to make Jerusalem a city of all nations.
I really think we're in the last days of Satan's rulership & the Kingdom of God will arrive on the 21st May it will be Armageddon, 4 events prove this:
1) War in Iraq/ Ghaddafi
2) Tsunami earthquake in Japan
3) Earthquake in Indonesia
4) Bird Swine flu
These Events cannot be ignored, God Jehovah/Jesus said there would be 4 signs to mark the end of the world:
Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom.†(Matthew 24:7) Millions of people have been killed in wars during the past century. One British historian wrote: “The 20th century was the most murderous in recorded history. . . . It was a century of almost unbroken war, with few and brief periods without organised armed conflict somewhere.†A report from the Worldwatch Institute states: “Three times as many people fell victim to war in [the 20th] century as in all the wars from the first century AD to 1899.†More than 100 million people have died as a result of wars since 1914. Even if we know the sorrow of losing onemillions loved one in warfare, we can only imagine such misery and pain multiplied of times over.
7 “There will be food shortages.†(Matthew 24:7) Researchers say that food production has increased greatly during the past 30 years. Nevertheless, food shortages continue because many people do not have enough money to buy food or land on which to raise crops. In developing countries, well over a billion people have to live on an income of a dollar or less a day. The majority of these suffer from chronic hunger. The World Health Organization estimates that malnutrition plays a major role in the deaths of more than five million children each year.
8 “There will be great earthquakes.†(Luke 21:11) According to the U.S. Geological Survey, since 1990 alone an average of 17 earthquakes per year have been powerful enough to damage buildings and crack the ground. And on an average, earthquakes strong enough to cause total destruction of buildings have occurred yearly. Another source states: “Earthquakes have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives in the last 100 years and improvements in technology have only slightly reduced the death toll.â€
9 “There will be . . . pestilences.†(Luke 21:11) Despite medical advances, old and new diseases plague mankind. One report says that 20 well-known diseases—including tuberculosis, malaria, and cholera—have become more common in recent decades, and some types of disease are increasingly difficult to cure by means of drugs. In fact, at least 30 new diseases have appeared. Some of them have no known cure and are fatal.
Harold CampingWe ought to live as though Jesus is returning this very moment.
But won't it be wonderful when He does?
