48Then He said to her, “Your sins have been forgiven.” 49Those who were reclining at the table with Him began to say to themselves, “Who is this man who even forgives sins?” 50And He (JESUS) said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” (Luke 7:48-50 NASB bold and parenthesis mine)
See? No gospel of works here. He taught the same gospel of salvation through the forgiveness of sin as Paul did later.
Even John the Baptist taught that:
76“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Most High;
For you will go on BEFORE THE LORD TO PREPARE HIS WAYS;
77To give to His people the knowledge of salvation
By the forgiveness of their sins,
78Because of the tender mercy of our God,
With which the Sunrise from on high will visit us "
(Luke 1:76-78 NASB bold mine)
