1 Corinthians 6:12 " All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any."
If a substance is known to promote death. Why then consume it? Luke 11:35-36 "
35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness.36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light."
The body can't be full of light if one consumes darkness all day.
Thank you for reminding us that the temple of God is within us. Each of us individually is a temple, for in my father’s house there are many mansions. We each are a man of sin who sits in our own temple, which also happens to be the temple of God. We think ourselves wise because we study and interpret the Bible for ourselves, yet we continue to resist the truth until we cede our own will so that Faith may be born in us. Behold I stand at the door and knock…
It is interesting how you have taken some of the things that we ingest, be it caffeine, sugar or whatever and have correlated it to knowingly ingesting poisons that do damage to our bodily temple. But the temple of God is not of the flesh, it is of the Spirit. The marriage of the Lamb is a union of Spirit.
But your insight does offer an valuable comparison. You ask the question why would we keep putting poisons in our body if we know it brings us death. I might ask the same question, metaphorically of course, why then do we continue to ingest the Bible as a source of knowledge when the only thing that knowledge reveals is death? Eat up the book, for in your mouth it shall be sweet as honey, but in your belly it shall be bitter.
The man of sin, the son that continues in perdition has taken their knowledge of the Bible and their knowledge of the Law and uses its authority to judge one another, and to condemn one another of sin. So that by their knowledge they sit in the temple of God, showing themselves that they are God, judging right from wrong. From the beginning the serpent sought no glory, but only that you might seek the glory for yourself by eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for in the day that you eat thereof you shall be as gods knowing good and evil.
But that is not the commandment that we have heard. The commandment that we were instructed to walk in is to forgive one another your trespasses. To love your enemy and to do good to those who despitefully use you. The spirit of Christ creates within us a humble spirit, not one that lifts itself up above another.
Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord:that is my name:
and my glory will I not give to another,
neither my praise to graven images.
