    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

The Poor, The Rich

Near my house ,I can be there in minutes

To its north lies a foundation of school house so I hear, near it lies a few homes that are older and I have photos but cant link them. Pioneer stories some poor, some rich ,the hallstrom family is interesting

Some things I don't mind my taxes going towards. Only if its for something good. It's not like it's wasting a million dollars on slushy machines.

hey, it could be worse...where i live, the prisons are so notorious for violence, the Feds are getting involved.

Proverbs 21:13
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

I heard a minister one time refer to this verse and he said that one of the reason’s there are bondages in one’s life is because he was not taking care of the poor. When we hear that and think that we can just go take care of the poor for our prayers to be heard and our bondages to be broken, then we have missed the point, and will only bury ourselves deeper into our misery as we are found working for our deliverance.

The reason one stops his ears from hearing the poor is because there is a problem with their faith. If their faith was true biblical faith, which is faith in Christ and His atoning work at Calvary, then he would have a heart for the poor. It is those who have proper faith who can approach the Lord through faith in the blood to get that which they need, and to have a heart for the poor.

Seeking God in His Word and experiencing Him through faith in the sacrifice of Christ!

Everyone starts off poor. As soon as your born your as broke as a joke. You need to drink mother's milk and someone to buy you some clothes.

poverty is not an individual problem. its a worldwide, social problem that shows up in individuals, in families, in communities. and...

i dont know how it is where you are, but here in the US...the lack of social programs, the shredding of what was left of the safety net, the Great Recession...

have combined, so now more people are poor...1 in 5 kids go to bed hungry in the US. People die waiting to be put on disability. Since welfare was shredded ("welfare reform") under Clinton, -deep- (read: extreme) poverty and intergenerational poverty have become more common. what to do?

in other news...the private prison industry is booming in the US. :-(

Families should work together, look after each other and support each other, unfortunately there is a push to divide families.

Each family should look after there family. Unfortunately it doesn't happen.

Like you have a condition and your family support you.

but not everyone has a family like mine. i do agree...its The Biblical way to go about things...if someone in the family -cannot- work, do whatever possible to keep them out of misery and abject poverty. my family has gone above and beyond, and I'm thankful, both to God and to them, too.

now...what if the family has been dirt poor for 3 generations?

God is wise that is why he said people get married and stick together, support, and should look after there direct family is good.

Look what happens when people don't.

They can read Up From Slavery by Booker T. Washington (an actual slave) and imitate him.

"Born a slave on a Virginia farm, Washington (1856-1915) rose to become one of the most influential African-American intellectuals of the late 19th century. In 1881, he founded the Tuskegee Institute, a black school in Alabama devoted to training teachers. Washington was also behind the formation of the National Negro Business League 20 years later, and he served as an adviser to Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft..."

The US majority continues to go backward. Other nations majorities continue to go forward.

The world is going backwards as many countries are ruled by 7th century stone age islam. The closest countries like Pakistan will ever get to the moon is a cresent on its flag while bludging from other countries in the name of foreign aid. Then again, they can somehow afford to build nukes and a strong military.

The USA gives away something like 50 billion in foreign aid each year.
