The Ramble On thread

You know what is really annoying me right now? The NSW state government privatising the lotteries. :grumpy. What were they thinking? :crazy

that makes no sense. food thought, led traffic signal lights are useless in the snow. thats a given, yet the green thinking politicans will have them put in and then a crew must clear them daily. How's that saving the tax payer money?

The problem is, that they've got ownerhsip of most of the transport, most of the education, water and health. They're all assets that lose money. But in recent years they've adopted this stupid idea of privatisation (thanks to Reagen) that involves them selling off assets that actually make money to subsidise those that don't. They've sold off Telstara (telecommunications), part of electricity, TAB (betting/gambling) and now the lotteries, which raked in tens of billions every year. They sold it for &850million.

That's the state government. The federal government is much better, and yesterday took over from the state government 60% of the health network. That's a good move, because most of the state governments have proved time and time again that they are incapable of running a state, and they misuse funds so often. I want to vote out this current state government but the alternative is pretty bad as well.

But the states practically invited the federals to take over health, proving time and time again their incompetence. :grumpy

You know what? I want to see the state governments abolished, give the federals more speciic power, and increase the power of local councils. That would be much better, and probably reduce taxes.

/rant. :grumpy

i work for the government in a small town, that in my situation and those that i work for it would disagree, as they powers that be would be so far away and distant.

The local councils would have greater influence. Depending on what job you did you might be working for them instead.
Obviously it's not foolproof, but I believe it could be a good solution. But it will never happen, as it's not a good political move. *sigh*

the problem with any government wanting a share of any thing makes money,is well greed. not that making a profit is bad. i will go into my observations of the war over electric and water in hometown and what the ramifications will be.

All very well but the government needs money. Besdies, I find that greed is more of a problem in private hands, in this context anyway.

the problem with that is the money when its used to do things that you are paying for but have no say, ie taxation without reprensation in a sense. that is exactly what is happening in my hometown, the city takes money from the utilities and put some in the general fund. it has done that for yrs. most of the money comes from those that are outside the city limits.

rates are double the private sector due to a foolish decision made yrs ago. if the city looses its utilities the parks and those other things will disappear as ad valerom is nowhere near enough to pay for the nice things we have.

a larger city to the south has less things then we do.

we a public pool and recreation center that will be closed , they are used alot by the poor.

a reminder to any of you who do quilting, and use a rotary cutter:
http://www.pelennapatchworks.co.uk/ekmp ... r-80-p.jpg
cut away from your body, whenever possible, and don't cut when preoccupied with other thoughts.

I was thinking other things, instead of paying attention, and I sliced clear through my little fingernail, and the flesh.
It bled for about a half hour, thougth I was going to need a stitch, but, all is healing now.

PAY ATTENTION WHEN USING A ROTARY CUTTER!

In church last night, the pastor said he was sick of hearing people who are introverts say they were uncomfortable being at church social functions.
He went on, and then said, if a person doesn't like being around God's people, then they might need to be born again.
what do you think? do you think he was damning introverts to hell?

Wow, talk about temptations of the flesh.
I was in the gym this afternoon, doing a small workout, and Pink's
song, So What, was on, with her video.

I was rotfl, it was so funny! That's the problem. I should have been disgusted.

Some of the lyrics:
I"ve got a brand new attitude, and I'm gonna wear it tonight
Guess what? I'm havin more fun, now that we're done

He's gonna start a fight, we're all gonna get in a fight.....
You weren't there, you never were..so what?
I don't need you. You're a tool.

Any other Christian have trouble with the flesh?
