The root of every spiritual error

The root of every spiritual error, is believing ourselves to be righteous.
To consider ourselves righteous, is to leave God, the only righteous one , out in the cold.
It is written..."He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." (1 John 2:6)
Are you implying that that is impossible to adhere to?

It is written..."Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness." (Rom 6:18)
Are you implying this is a false witness/prophesy?

I hope not.

No in fact it was ....,.....the Pontiff! Pope Francis.
Good one Frank.

That should read, the root of human error, not spiritual error, is that of lacking Spiritual truth which causes one to be self righteous in their understanding.

What the Pope should have quoted is Isaiah 64:6 and that our righteousness is through faith in Christ, Philippians 3:1-11.

He is saying that error begins when one believes that one's own understanding is correct.
How about if "one's understanding" is based on what Jesus taught?
Humble soul's post was too general a statement, as it only applied to some.

Everyone makes that claim. Yet there seems to be so many diverse interpretations.
As I just read..."by their fruits you shall know them".
It is those bringing forth fruits unto God that the OP doesn't apply to..

What kind of fruit are you bringing forth?

If it was "whoever is without wrong and righteous share the gospel and be a Christian", then who would be standing?.
