Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

The root of every spiritual error

Look how many sects have incorporated homo-sexuality, same sex marriage, and divorce into the norms of their "religion".
It is because nobody "judged" the proceedings as wickedness and stood against it.
"Silence is Complicity" I have read on a protest sign lately.
You might be making some good points. But as Pope Francis says "don't judge".
I am not fond of same sex marriage either. But if I see a human being in need of my help I can't say " sorry I only help those who voted against same sex marriage". The Samaritan story in the gospel teaches us that.

Offering them a hand with a flat tire is a far cry form accepting them into your circle

It's a fine description of a sinner, but those in Christ are no longer sinning after their true repentance from sin.
Their righteousness is of Christ, and can be manifested wherever they walk.
The pride of ex-sinners is of God and His graceful power in their lives.
So my difference from the OP is in what we have pride in: self or God.

And pride in self leads to not replying on God and into giving in to flotation and sinning or into the belief that our ideas are correct .

Is that your "idea"?
If nobodies "ideas" are correct, what is the use of pastors, teachers, and prophets?

If there ideas are based on there own intellect, there particular understanding of scripture and the intention is to build up their 'church' and there reputation, then they are of no use at all.

However if what they are teaching is the result of study, of prayer and thought about what the Bible does teach then they are of great use.

The opening post was about man's pride in man's ability and not about man humble recieving from God.

The OP was ambiguous at best.
I agree with your POV, and when scripture is considered, it says we are all to be righteous.
To demonize our adherence to the righteousness of God, and hence our own righteousness is counter-intuitive.

Don't blame me. Blame the poor Pontiff. And actually I thought it quite clear.

If we are made to feel that any progress in pleasing Christ is a bad thing, we will quit trying to "get better".
Our righteousness is of God, and we should all be manifesting that righteousness everywhere we go.
If we can't consider ourselves "righteous", we must consider ourselves...in Christ...unrighteous.
That isn't possible.
The unrighteous are outside of Christ and the righteous are "in Christ".

You might be right. About righteousness I mean.

Nothing has been said about pleasing God is bad, except by you.

The popes remark was/is crystal clear.
Pride in self and in self's ability will lead to error/sin.

You will be surprised to learn that the Bible echos this.
It is what I have been going on about and you seem unable to understand it.

Everything is of God, including righteousness.
Makes me wonder why so many unrighteous folks call themselves "Christians".

I was going to call myself a Cathprot. Because I don't fully acknowledge Bible or Church as sole authority.
