The Sufferings Of Christ

Our Lord Jesus suffered as all men do,

Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; Heb.5:8

I believe only as an example to us, "Jesus learned", as the perfect example of God shows the love he had and still does have toward those who abuse sinning against him. It shows the hatred men have for God by nailing him to a cross, contrary to the patient love and forgivness he had for them.

On the other hand, satan also has a plan which he hopes will cause men to curse God. When trials come into our lives. That's what Dorothy Maes' thread on Job reminded me of. Job wondered why he was suffering and afterward found out why.

Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

What many are missing is the word "shall" in Matthew 24:13 as it's expressed as a future tense that indicates a promise.

For by grace, as it's only Gods favor extended to all who will receive it by faith, is a free gift as we become His workmanship created in Christ unto good works that God ordained that we should continue walking in the good works of Christ, Ephesians 2:8; Matthew 25:31-40. We can not earn our salvation by our own works nor do we even deserve Gods grace, Genesis 6:6-8. Only by a mustard seed of faith do we come to Christ and repent of our sins are we then only washed clean by the blood of Christ and become Spiritually reborn again (not saved) through the Spiritual rebirth of John 3:3-6 by that of Romans 10:9,10.

Matthew 24:13 says that those who endure until the end shall be saved. This means enduring all the trials and tribulations that this world will bring against us for the sake of our witness and testimony of Christ, Acts 14:22, Rev 2:10. The end means the end of our days here on this present earth when those in the grave and we who are still alive at His coming will then be caught up to Christ and are saved at that time as we have endured all things and never gave up our faith in Christ.

God's word never said we would not go through trials or tribulations, but through many trials and tribulations, if we endure until the end, then we will see the Kingdom of God, Acts 14:22, as we are all called into discipleship as we share our witness and testimony with those who have not yet repented and turned back to God. Below are twenty reasons why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations so that we will always remain in His will.

Why God allows us to go through trials and tribulations:
1. Training as God prepares us for the future
2. Patience as we rely and trust in God's timing
3. Perseverance through trials that we remain in Gods will
4. Trust as God's ways are not our ways and He has a better plan for us
5. To learn from our mistakes
6. To humble ourselves before Him
7. To discipline us
8. Teach us to be dependent on Him alone
9. To spend quiet time with God so He can speak to us
10. To teach us of His protection
11. That we also share in the sufferings of Christ that we be not ashamed
12. Strengthen us to become more like Christ
13. To develop character
14. Build up our faith in the Lord
15. For a testimony and witness to help others
16. To show us sin in our lives that we need to own up to having
17. To remind us that God is in control
18. Helps us gain knowledge and understanding God's word
19. Teaches us to be thankful
20. To take our mind off the things of the world and and put them back on God

For the most part I agree, except the love of God says sinners do deserve mercy . It's like when a child does something wrong and how his parent sees him.
Your 20 examples are contained in being transformed into Christs Image.

Where do you see that the love of God says sinners deserve mercy? Is there a just court anywhere that says perpetrators deserve mercy? Do the victims of our sin feel that we deserve mercy?

But let me ask you, when people sin against you, do you find it very easy to forgive as they deserve for you to do so? I was wondering if this world view means that granting forgiveness towards those who do you wrong results in a man who easily forgives offenses. Do the others around you say that you easily forgive offenses and hardly notice them at times? ( These are real questions as I am really curious not just cheeky. It is interesting to see how a man thinks makes the man into the character he becomes and I was wondering about this one.)

By how he treats them.

We're not in court yet.

Do the victims of our sin feel that we deserve mercy?
Not unless they know him.

But let me ask you, when people sin against you, do you find it very easy to forgive as they deserve for you to do so?
I think it's important for sinners to ask for forgivness, but I choose to forgive them regardless. Had our Savior not done so, I wouldn't be here.

I was wondering if this world view means that granting forgiveness towards those who do you wrong results in a man who easily forgives offenses.
It should.

Do the others around you say that you easily forgive offenses and hardly notice them at times? ( These are real questions as I am really curious not just cheeky. It is interesting to see how a man thinks makes the man into the character he becomes and I was wondering about this one.)
I hope others feel the mercy of God in me.

We are all sinners, but many of us are saved by God's mercy and grace that is extended to all who will come to Him.

The 20 examples are only why we as Christians go through trials and tribulations.

I agree, except all of us are saved by his mercy. Our Messiah chose not to destroy those who sinned against him, abused him. He showed what our Father is every day and always has been, which is having compassion for people who hate him, before passing judgment on sinners.
The 20 examples are only why we as Christians go through trials and tribulations.
I agree. In fact, our King is the perfect example of all of them, (except for #5).

By how he treats them.
In Sodom and G he burned them. When the men brought up the tower that fell on some, Jesus told them that unless they repent they will all likewise perish. Why didn't anyone in the Bible tell them not to worry as God as mercy on them and no judgment will occur. Why did Paul say he would face the judgement of the deeds done in the body if there is none and only mercy extended to all no matter what?
We're not in court yet.

None of that is the point I asked. If people who sin against you do not see their wrong, they will never know mercy has been extended. And this is the case of most people, they do not see the wrong they do others, only the wrong they have received, which they see very clearly. Your answer of "it should" when I asked if you find it then very easy to instantly forgive others is either this is the case of your character or you struggle as most of us do when someone does you wrong. I am asking you to evaluate your own ability to instantly forgive. I am not asking if others feel it or it this is the logical conclusion. It is the logical conclusion IF this is how your really lie.

So I ask again, when others offend you, are you able to instantly forgive no matter what they do including continuing the offensive behavior or words? If you really believed what you wrote, then this ought to be something people say of you. It could have been said of Jesus by those who walked with him. Or do you get angry and repeat offenses to third parties ("you know what XYZ did to me..)?

You are in error on a point. God did destroy those who abused him and He promised he would do so and did so in 70AD. He judged them for what they did to Him. Those who pierced him were punished, they did not live out their lives in peace and comfort.

I thought you believed that God's grace and mercy is extended only to his own.

I thought you believed that God's grace and mercy is extended only to his own.
No, God's mercy and grace is for all who will come and humble themselves before Him confessing they are sinners as they believe in their heart that Jesus truly is the Son of God as they confess Him as Lord and Savior. Mercy is God's love for everyone that comes to Him while His grace pardons our sins.

Was it not God's mercy and grace that allowed you, yet being a sinner separated from Him, to come before Him confessing Him as Lord and Savior?

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Until you sit across the table with a murder as I have and see the tears pouring down their face as they repent of their sins and ask Jesus into their heart then you could better understand God's mercy and grace working in their lives.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God

REPENT - change, transform, transfigure, reconsider

Repentance gives us that opportunity to receive a new beginning in our life as God wipes away all our past sins and remembers them no more. Repentance allows the door to be opened for Christ to come into our lives so we may receive his Holy Spirit to help guide us in our walk with the Lord and to show us a life that is pleasing to the Father. It’s through the Holy Spirit that we come into a better understanding of Gods word by allowing His Spirit to teach us all things we need to know for the purpose and time of ministry to ourselves and to others.

GRACE - undeserved, unmerited favor, Gods willingness to give us His power and ability even though we do not deserve it

Jesus came to show us how to overcome the sin nature of the world by teaching us how to live a moral life compatible with the word of God. Jesus gave of himself for all of us and redeemed us from the curse of sin by taking all our sin upon him becoming the final blood sacrifice for his love towards everyone who will believe on his name. When we come to Jesus it is Gods grace that forgives our sins and remembers them no more. Sin will always be present with us because the flesh will always sin for that is its nature, but when we ask Jesus into our hearts we also receive at that same moment the gift of the Holy Spirit which teaches us how to separate ourselves from the ungodliness and lusts of this world. We may have to live in this world, but as a child of God we are not part of this world because our inner man, or heart, has now become renewed in the Spirit of God and is sinless through the grace of God.

Titus 2:11 for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
Titus 2:12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ;
Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
Titus 2:15 These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Mercy - Moves with compassion, Gods unconditional love towards us

Mercy and grace go hand in hand as it is all Gods willingness to love us unconditionally. God loves all his creation as we are all created in his image of love, but have chosen to reject that love through freewill. There are many horrendous things people have done in their lives that society has deemed these type of people unlovable and sinners unworthy of Gods mercy. Thieves, murderers, adulterers, prostitutes, etc. etc. are all loved by God and made in his image of love, but have fallen from grace through their own freewill as we all have many times in our lives as we know Gods word has said we have all sinned and fell short of his glory. Remember there is no such thing as a little sin as sin is sin. Even these type of people that society has already condemned can return to Gods grace as mercy already loves them and God will forgive anything we have done in life, thus God saying he is not willing that any should perish, but that all would come to repentance.

Matthew 5:7 blessed is the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Exodus 33:19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy.

2Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Until you sit across the table with a murder as I have and see the tears pouring down their face as they repent of their sins and ask Jesus into their heart then you could better understand God's mercy and grace working in their lives.
Do you have the same mercy towards those who look forward to the thrill of murder again?

No, God's mercy and grace is for all who will come and humble themselves before Him confessing they are sinners as they believe in their heart that Jesus truly is the Son of God as they confess Him as Lord and Savior. Mercy is God's love for everyone that comes to Him while His grace pardons our sins.

So you admit God loves every human being?

when others offend you, are you able to instantly forgive no matter what they do including continuing the offensive behavior or words?
You had better be quick to forgive any offense towards another. If you do not forgive God will not forgive you your trespasses.

Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Mat 6:15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Mark 11:25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
Mark 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Do you have the same mercy towards those who look forward to the thrill of murder again?
Did God show mercy to you being yet a sinner as He extended His grace to you ?

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

Mat 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Mat 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

When I taught the word of God in the prison ministry that to me was the greatest example of God's mercy and grace bestowed on every inmate no matter the crime. They were judged in a court of law and paid the price for what they had done, but yet like all of us yet being sinners falling short of His glory came back to the Lord and ask forgiveness and were forgiven when we confessed Christ as their Lord and Savior. Not everyone will call on the name of Jesus as it is not God that condemns them, but they condemn themselves.

Does He have that mercy on every single human being?
