LOL! Yeah, that's one of those areas where you have to migrate to safer waters during hurricane season I guess... I'll stay where I am. 3 seasons are great and winter isn't nearly as severe as a lot of other parts of the country. Once in a while we get winds up to 100 MPH but that's rare. Nothing like a hurricane. And my harbor is well protected. Yep, I'll stay here I guess.Yeah or unless you go down there where Jason is, and then you run the risk of waking up with your boat upside down, or 5 miles inland on top of a residential house roof.
Since your boat is not up to codes we're going to have to double your insurance premiums. Some are better than others, but none can compare to a well insulated house. You really can't have 6" thick walls and roofs stuffed with insulation on a boat.
"For the rest of your life" (is that how it goes?)
they often leave and head north, they are able to simply leave and exit the lagoon from two easy ports that are within one hour or less of each other. slow speed due to manatees. remember water can move in an earthquake. besides florida hasn't had a hit since fay. a few tstorms here and there is normal. if that scares you then don't own a boat.LOL! I rather like thunderstorms (as long as my metal mast isn't the highest thing around!) but we don't get many here. Not many earthquakes around here either. Being originally from Southern California I kind of miss them. If a volcano blows I'm to far from the closest one to be directly affected and the prevailing wind will carry the ash the other way. All in all, this is a pretty boring area when it comes to natural disasters. Some people here consider a foot of snow a disaster! :-(they often leave and head north, they are able to simply leave and exit the lagoon from two easy ports that are within one hour or less of each other. slow speed due to manatees. remember water can move in an earthquake. besides florida hasn't had a hit since fay. a few tstorms here and there is normal. if that scares you then don't own a boat.
I like thunderstorms and lightening storms too.I like it when the lights go out.Exciting stuff for me as long as no one gets hurt. You do know that you live in Earthquake country...right? And so do I.We are overdue for "The Big One" they tell us at least a 9.I rather like thunderstorms (as long as my metal mast isn't the highest thing around!) but we don't get many here. Yeah, technically I do. But I haven't felt one in over 10 years, and that one was tiny compared to the big Los Angeles quakes that I grew up with. And down there hardly a year would go by without at least one that was strong enough to wake you up. They're rather tame up here in comparison. Of course, if one of our volcanos blows it's top like Mt St Helens did a while back I imagine it will be a different story!...You do know that you live in Earthquake country...right? I felt a good one about 2 years ago.I was laying on the couch reading a book and the house did not sway it just violently jerked. It was about a 5.I live by Battle Ground,Wa.I think you might know where that is.Yeah, technically I do. A 9 you don't want that, nothing will be left standing.I like thunderstorms and lightening storms too.I like it when the lights go out.Exciting stuff for me as long as no one gets hurt. You do know that you live in Earthquake country...right? Yes,but that is what they are predicting for the Pacific NW.Only God knows when but we have been warned now by Geologists for awhile.A 9 you don't want that, nothing will be left standing.
Animals seem to have a way of knowing these things. I had a Samoyed dog who used to start acting nervous and strange before quakes.the Loma prieta quake of 89... i was in a hospital the staff/patients.. we kept talking about all the birds looking like they were trying to get in the windows. Birds climbing on one another covering off and on about 1/3 of the big picture windows over looking the Napa Valley.. around noon time so about 4-5 hours before the quake...
Animals have a sense of all kinds of disasters before they happen.Authorities say "Watch the animals".Animals seem to have a way of knowing these things. I had a Samoyed dog who used to start acting nervous and strange before quakes.
