TV Shows You Watch, but don't Necessarily Talk About.

Lately, there have been some TV shows my wife and I have been following that, in and of themselves, are interesting to watch, they just don't have anything that would make me want to seek any friends out to discuss them.

For example, we recently started watching the show Gotham, which is a rather dark take on the Batman universe. I do like how they are taking an approach that does not, necessarily, involve Batman, but have it centered around the rise of Jim Gordon through the ranks of the Gotham City Police Department.

Also, they are building the characters of people who will eventually be the supervillains on the show.

Anyone else have shows they watch, but don't really get all that excited about them?

Yeah I recently started watching seinfield a few months ago which is wild because I used to never care about this show but I started liking it about a year ago it just really clicked with me,honestly for me its a nice break from shows that are centered around kids and family life.I live a fun single life and the show gets me in that way so I have my evening tea when its on and make a brainstorm sheet(its a random ritual ive had since i was a kid lol).Im not near as crazy about it as I am the big bang theory but eh its a good evening tea show lol.

Say what?! You want me to come clean about my television watching? :neutral

Okay then. I have never liked batman and haven't seen one of the movies, but know who Jim Gordon and the villians are like you say.

yeah, Gotham.

I follow The 100 also. It's kind of a cool show. I sort've expect that it will be cancelled though because nada lada people are into it.

I did watch the entire series of Breaking Bad also. The transformation of a good ethical man into a monster through bad circumstance was interesting and enlightening.

my wife used to watch ncis. I cant stand that show. I am trained in that stuff. I know what they do. ncis does exist and well officers don't arrest or work that. its the enlisted and I don't like how they make the cid of the army look like when the army's cid is actually bigger then the ncis and oss(air force equalivant).

Forensic Files
The First 48
Homicide Hunter, Lt Joe Kinda
Southern Fried Homicide

wannabe cs specialist. of course they don't get much here.

I don't even have TV. Got tired of paying more money every month than my last car payment to watch long strings of commercials (commonly 12 to 15 in a row!) Now I just have Netflix streaming and usually watch movies. All commercial free! :)

Oh, I did download the first season of Twilight Zone and watch it every now and then. 'And I did the same to All in the Family, one season, but deleted it after awhile.

A cool old Christian film that I downloaded is "Lilies of the Field" with Sidney Poitier. Very cool. More of a movie than a Christian storyline but cool nonetheless. He stops in for a little handyman work to get him some gas money and winds up building them a church lol.

The bad thing about television is that it feeds your brain images, which teaches your brain to be lazy and inhibits the use of ones imagination.

Having a strong imagination is a good thing, and psychologically healthy for you. Imagination is cool, you can take trips to anywhere, fly, visit people, relive memories with loved ones and so much more.

Better than any stinking tv show, lol. :)

For your kids psychological health, tell them no you can't watch tv right now, and kick their little butts outside, lol :lol

Television desensitizes a person. They get used to the worldly inappropriate material that is on television.I look at these verses:
Matthew 6:22-23 22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Romans 12:2 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Philippians 4:8 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Television can be an educational tool for some and many like sports.I think a Christian needs to use discernment in what they watch.

That's a good point sister. Even scripture says that Satan can transform into an Angel of light or whatever, right. Think about it...What's a TV? It emits light. A one eyed monster. No wonder they call it the boob tube, lol.

To be honest, if I am not kind of proud of the programs I watch, I won't be watching them. Why would I?

There is always the poop in the brownie analogy we could use, but I have found it really doesn't quite fit.

Be mindful...... I'm not saying I haven't looked at some TV that I think stinks.... Mike & Molly... Honey Boo Boo... Modern Family... Big Bang.... The Office... How I Met Your Mother... Anger Management.... all of the "reality" garbage shows... etc., but I would be very seriously questioning my own integrity (as well as intelligence) if I continued to tune them in after one or two tries at seeing anything worthwhile in them.

Oh, wait, wait.... There IS one. I used to watch The Munsters.

Man...I hate those shows, How I met your mother and the Big Bang. My son watches those shows and I dunno what he sees in them. When I seen that big bang show, I said that Sheldon guy is either really gay, or else an extreemely good actor. It turns out he really is gay.

It blew my mind when I found out that Sara Gilbert is Melissa Gilberts sister. Wow. Like night and day. I used to watch Little House on the Prairie all the time.
