All things are not equal in heaven, there are many who think they are doing something for God, but we discover, "if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully." (2Tim 2:5)

We need to wake up and make sure that we are not having our "crown" stolen. For the Lord Jesus has said in Rev 16:15, "

Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watches, and keeps his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame."

So thanks but no thanks,;) 'Grounded & Settled' is my Col. 1:23 Faith as is penned! Continued 'in' is the key Word! Even this professed faith as a 'candelstick' has made shipwreck, (Rev. 3:16 + Rev. 3:9) not by leaving, but by actually staying put! (if you can follow that? Matt. 23:3)

When reading these verses it seems obvious, because of such words as “number†and “calculateâ€, to expect the “number†to be a numeral. All bible copies, even as far back as the Codex Sinaiticus (4th century), have translated the old Greek text (c ξ Ϛ) to mean the numeral “666â€.

In order to understand the message it is important to pay closer attention to the meaning of the Greek text (Greek English Lexicon, Liddell & Scott, 9th edition) for...

... receive, mark, name, number, calculate, and “c ξ Ϛâ€.

Receive …Greek word = δωσiν (phonetic...dosin)
…can also mean: to give oneself, to receive willingly

Mark … Greek word = χαραγμα (phonetic...charagma)
…can also mean: sign, characteristic, trait, distinction

Name…. Greek word = ονoμα (phonetic...onoma)
…..can also mean: title, reputation, character, designation

Number…. Greek word = αριθμoν(phonetic...arithmon)
…can also mean: mark of a station, worth, value.

Calculate…. Greek word = ψηθισατω (phonetic...psaythisato)
…can also mean: determine, conclude, identify, recognize

These other meanings of the Greek words clearly refer to a context of character and values identification!

Now, let’s take a look at the Greek letters c ξ Ϛ .
In Greek new testament texts, the c ξ Ϛ will be followed by a stroke notation (c ξ Ϛ´) above and to the right of the letters to indicate a numerical interpretation. It is important to note that this convention was acquired during the Byzantine Empire, 4th – 15th century. This stroke notation was therefore not part of the original text. It was also common practice for interpretations to be edited into scripture. Taking into consideration the duality of the Greek alphabet to act as letters or numerals and the scribes’ assumption to interpret the greek word “αριθμoν†to signify numeral, the translators interpreted and added the
letters c = 600, ξ= 60, and Ϛ = 6, producing 666.

However, c ξϚ has also another meaning.

Since this same “number†applies to a man, to the beast’s name (character), and to the beast (government-empire), it must encompass a characteristic common to all three. What can be commonly shared by a government power, its character, and a man? Is it a common value-belief or a common numeral? The answer is obviously that of a common value-belief.

cξϚ(as three individual symbols)
The roots of the Greek alphabet are found in the ancient Sematic and Egyptian symbols. Each symbol represented a meaning.
The letter / symbol c …Taw …sign, mark, self
The letter / symbol ξ …Samech …support
The letter / symbol Ϛ …Shin…stigma, recognition of servitude

Therefore c ξ Ϛ = oneself + support + in servitude to.
The (number=belief) is clear.
In servitude to support oneself. The desire to serve one’s own interests / to do one’s own will.

What is the significance of this interpretation?
· As Individual Man.... To serve one’s own interests. The desire to do one’s own will.
· National Character.... The belief in the rights of the individual. Will of the people.
· Beast /World Mission...Democracy (def.: people (self) – rule) as a way of life for all nations.

This message is also confirmed by the writings of the prophet Daniel in Daniel 11:36-39.
(Note: This is the description of the last king/world power before the return of Jesus Christ.)
Daniel 11:36;
“Then the king shall do according to his own will; he shall exalt and magnify himself above every god, shall speak blasphemies against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the wrath has been accomplished; for what has been determined shall be done.

Does it exist today?
The world is presently living in the presence of this dominant power. Economic sanctions on a global level have been imposed on countries which have shown flagrant disregard for its ideological foundation, the freedom of rights of man. Today, more than 75% of the world’s nations have willingly embraced and have become democracies. Recently Egypt has embraced this way and others are demanding to receive it. No nation is able to make war with (conquer) the beast (Rev.13:4) either militarily or politically (=spiritually). Its way (through capitalism) also offers the most prosperous economic rewards on earth (Rev.18:11-15). This primary belief has already unified the majority of nations, all the while respecting their “cultures/religions†(fortresses), and will, in the near future, unify all of mankind under the belief of universal values and freedom of rights. Recently, we have seen the people of Tunisia and Egypt overthrow their governments in order to embrace this way and belief.

Will of man or the will of the True God:
The U.S.A. embodies, on the global stage, each man’s desire for the freedom to do and justify his own will. It is important to highlight that these choices are based on man’s will and are not based on the absolute truths established by God. Even the belief in God has been decreed by man to be an “expression of a religious freedomâ€. The above are witnessed in excerpts from the Declaration of Independence and in the Constitution of the United States.
Declaration of Independence;
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness-….â€
Constitution of the United States, Article the third (Amendment I)
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…â€
These words clearly reflect the scriptural prophecies that we have read and seen in Daniel 11:36-39.

God does not accept man’s will to worship beliefs of his own creation. By doing so man rejects God’s existence as the True God and places himself in the position above God. This is blasphemy in the eyes of The Most High as declared in the First Commandment.

God’s desire is for man to embrace and to do His will, which is absolute love for God and for those around us, and to receive the gift of eternal life. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, summarized well this choice on the Mount of Olives prior to his capture, torture, death, and resurrection.
His words were: Mathew 26:42, Mark 14:36, Luke 22:42;

“Father, if itis Your will, remove this cup from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done.â€
.....which He did as an act of sacrifice, love, and forgiveness for those who repent and follow Him.

I'm a bit confused. Can you explain to me why you took Greek letters with a numerical value of 666, transliterated them into Hebrew letters with a numerical value of 760, derived a meaning from the Hebrew pictographs and then applied that meaning to the Greek letters? If you're going to derive a meaning from the Hebrew letters, shouldn't you use the letters that would actually be used to represent the number 666 in Hebrew, such as Tav-Resh-Samech-Vav, which is the simples way of representing that number.

John - Excellent word study. As is evidenced by your study you have arrived at some pretty solid conclusions. In the older Greek texts and in older translations Revelation 13:18 reads, "...for it is the number of man..." the indefinite article "a" having been added to the text. That being the case the verse does not point specifically to a man singularly, but, more aptly to man as in the first man, Adam, such as in, "behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man." (Dan 7:8)

The "number of man," and the "eyes of man." What number is the number of man? And what is meant by the eyes of man? All the answers are in the Scriptures. There is nowhere else we can look for God's thoughts on these things.

We understand that God's number is 7, pointing to temporal perfection. We also understand that, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..." (Gen 1:26) "And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day." (Gen 1:31) Therefore, the number of man, that is Adam (and the name Adam simply means man,) is 6. One number short of 7, the perfection of God.

The eyes of man, pointing to fallen nature of Adam, is revealed this wise, "The first MAN is of the earth, earthy, the second man is the Lord from heaven." (1Cor 15:47) Therefore, this triune earthy entity is continually looking upon the earth for answers to spiritual things. For, "...the eyes of man are never satisfied." (Pro 27:20b)

As to your thoughts on Daniel 11:36-39 - Daniel 11 is a flowing prophecy from verse 1 through verse 45. And is a filling up of all the symbolic prophesies that had previously been revealed in Daniel. To reach into the middle of the prophecy and pluck out 4 verses without a clear understanding of what is said before and after is an error of the greatest proportions.

This is not a disparagement of you, as it is an error that has been fostered upon Christians for a very long time. There is much wrong with the "fairy tales" that have been taught to the Church for centuries, and the subject is so vast that it can never be covered in few words.

The best that can be done is to encourage believers to SEE: Bible Truths And Prophecy — Blogs, Pictures, and more on WordPress In order to understand what is written you have to read all the posts from the first to the last. If you skip around it will indeed become confusion.

Theofilus,
I would like to clarify a few points. First of all , I did not transliterate the Greek letters XES into Hebrew letters. They are the same Greek letters, however, I pointed out that their meaning-origin was connected to ancient Semitic and Egyption symbols, which represented certain meanings. This applies also to the English alphabet which is also connected to the Greek alphabet and thus to the ancient Semitic and Egyptian symbols.

Secondly, there is a Greek word "XES" in the greek dictionary. The symbols of "E" and the "S" are not exactly the same, however the word is closely related. You will find it interesting to see that this word means "the desire to relieve oneself". The meaning shows that the focus is on "oneself" but in a more crude and basic way. This meaning in itself is basically on the button as for its spiritual reflection.

I hope that this will help to clarify the message that I was making.

Wish you well and that you will stand for Christ in the real world.

sdktlk,
I agree with you that Daniel 11 is a flowing prophecy, however Daniel 11:36-45 focuses on the description, character, and activities of the last king of the north before the return of Christ. Daniel 11:36-39 deals particularly with the character-belief value of this king, and that is to do his own will and to magnify and glorify the self. This belief description reflects and supports the character significance of XES. It is for this reason that I highlighted these verses.

I thank you for recognizing the validity of the conclusions. I would ask you to not see it as a result of a "word study" but to consider its importance and implication in the real life of a Christian that is true to Christ.

Wish you well and that you may stand for Christ in face of man's belief.

The second letter isn't an E. It's a Xi, and has a KS sound, like the English X. You say that the first letter is a Tau, but it looks more like a C. The Greek Tau simply looks like an English T. The lower case Tau looks the same, but smaller. The last letter is a Zeta, or Z in English. The "word" you have there is then TXZ, not at all related to XES. Are you basing your theory on the fact that the lower case Greek Xi looks like an E?

Again I say if one does not understand the entire discourse it is an assumption to declare that the one being spoken of is descriptive of some future "man of sin."
And, to make assumptions concerning the things of God is not wise.

Sir,
Once again, if you read Daniel 11:45 and Daniel 12:1-3, you will see that no one will help this king of the north and that the next event is "At that time Michael shall stand up,".
I do not see how much more clearer it can be that this king of the north is the last world ruler who will go against Christ at His return.

I hope that this will bring some insight, if not, it will be fruitless for further communication.

Wish you well.

two bibles of mine date revalation near ad 96, and the earliest ad 64.

It was the earlier date: 64. John wrote four times in Revelation that the events depicted in his book would happen soon: twice at the beginning, and twice at the end:

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must soon take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John, Revelation 1:1 (NASB)

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near. Revelation 1:3 (NASB)

And he said to me, "These words are faithful and true"; and the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, sent His angel to show to His bond-servants the things which must soon take place. Revelation 22:6 (NASB)

And he *said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. Revelation 22:10 (NASB)

He was writing to a specific group of churches in a specific place at a specific time for a specific purpose:

John to the seven churches that are in Asia [Turkey]: Grace to you and peace, from Him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven Spirits who are before His throne, Revelation 1:4 (NASB)

..."Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea." Revelation 1:11 (NASB)

The time was near for the people who lived at that time in those places. The purpose was to prepare them for what would soon follow under Nero: the worldwide persecution of the Christian church, upon which Nero blamed the fire that destroyed Rome on July 18, 64 AD. It was also to show them what would happen to Jerusalem as a result of Nero's decision to send Vespasian and Titus to Judea to quell the Jewish insurrection.

One last word on this: most - if not all - of the NT writers believed they were living in the "last days" as evinced by this short passage:

1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. Hebrews 1:1-2 (NASB)

The persecution the church and the fall of Jerusalem certainly would've appeared to those living at the time - both Christian and Jew - that they were indeed living in the last days.

Read Josephus and Foxe's Book of Martyrs to see just how bad things got back then, and thank God every day for the time and place in which we live.

Peace. Out. :thumbsup

Right. And the fact that I did something last Saturday means that I believe that there will be no next Saturday, right?

As led of the Lord I did a exhaustive study on all the prophecies of Daniel in the early 90's, having looked all the words and their definitions in Hebrew. Not to say that I read or write Hebrew, but the tools or available for whosoever will. The Lord also had me write all of those revealings down and record them in a book entitled "THERE IS NO" which can be found at amazon.com ISPN # 1572580542.

Insight is something one must get before the Lord, elsewise whose insight is it?

Please do a quick search for Antiochus IV Epiphanes on the web. Knowing what led to the Maccabean Revolt (and the history of Hanukkah) will explain Daniel 8, 11 & 12.

For what it's worth.

And if so inclined, read Josephus and his accounts of Antiochus, then also read 1 Maccabees in the Catholic Bible.

To much arm of flesh is a waste of time! Jer. 17:5
God reveals it simple if one believes Him? (IN Eccl. 1:9-10 + Eccl. 3:15)

So go back to where the Godhead previously TESTED His whole professed group for 40 years with just one test to see where they refused all of Gods Law. He said they refuse to walk in His Commandments as a [whole]. That will be the 666 TEST once again He Documents!

And the Rev. 17:1-5 ones?? They mostly already are a done deal with that testing for well past even 120 years of the Holy Spirits Gen. 6:3's STRIVING with them!:screwloose So it will be an easy thing to use caesar's force to further execute Christ the second time, huh! Heb. 6:6

One thing is needful in understanding the "king of the north" and "the king of the south" in Daniel. We have to understand where these designations come from, and what land masses they encompass.

The Kingdom previous to these two kingdoms being introduced into Scripture was Greece, which was divided into a four-in-one kingdom. Four headed leopard (Dan 7:6) which is also seen as the he goat with four horns (Dan 8:8)

The land masses that were controlled by this four-in-one kingdom goes as such:

 1. Cassander – Greece and the neighboring countries (western segment.)
 2. Lysimachus – Asia Minor, which included Macedonia (northern segment.)
 3. Seleucus – Syria and Babylon (eastern segment.)
 4. Ptolemy – Egypt (southern segment.)

Therefore, whomever is the "king of the north" would have to control Asia Minor and Macedonia, or at least be dominate in that area. And as the prophecy proceeds forward in Daniel it is WHOMEVER is in control of that area.

The same is true with regards the "king of the south." It is whatever power is in control of Egypt.

That being said the prophecies about the king of the north and the king of the south cannot be speaking of any king or kingdom, such as Antiochus, for the Seleucid Empire would be "the king of the east." And that division of the four-in-one kingdom is not set forth by the Lord.

That being said the prophecies about the king of the north and the king of the south cannot be speaking of any king or kingdom, such as Antiochus, for the Seleucid Empire would be "the king of the east."

By the logic used in your last sentence, Egypt would then be the "King of the West", as it is actually more west of Jerusalem than it is south.

Meanwhile, the seat of the Seleucid Empire was the city of Antioch, almost directly north of Jerusalem.
