Unlearned and Self Willed

Like a ship on a stormy sea until the Lord Christ stills the waters , emotions, that are all under his command. The parable when Peter was to walk to Jesus when Jesus was walking on the sea of Galilee. Peters faith brought him out of the boat and he took purchase atop the water. Then he realized where he was and his far of drowning overcame his trust of his Lord and he almost drowned. Until Jesus raised him up.
Well said.
The testimony of the OP seeing the error of their ways is brave and something worthy of our prayers. That the Lord lead and guide in his precious and holiest of spirits unto understanding that which admittedly is askew at these times.
Amen.

The one thing that will always find its way to people of Christ are those who are in conflict with the gospel. And who loathe the teachings.
If they can cause chaos among the faithful gathered anywhere at all , all's the better in their mind.

It is a shame. I've never happened on a Christian community on the Net where there does not participate that kind of person or persons.

Some of the worst people I encountered in the realm of hypocrite were in churches and on one or two Christian forums I've looked into.

It was bad enough in church because it was personal meetings and face to face witnessing of the worst behaviors. On forums it isn't a surprise because the annonymity of the Internet allows the worst people to pretend. And for some their worst is unleashed due to that anonymous opportunity to exercise their demonic side. Whereas in person encounters causes them to muffle that side of their personality.

It's all a lesson though. It teaches us to be stronger for surviving what comes. And in some they show us what not to become if our life goes left the way theirs obviously did.

Sounds like we've gone to similar churches.
The forum thing is expected. Anyone can pretend on a forum. How they act when claiming some mask that suits the theme of the forum they're on is what tells the tale.
There are a lot of atheists that have sport on religious forums. Buddhist sites, Pagan sites, Christian denominational sites of all sorts, even political sites that lean to the extreme.
Everyone needs a hobby.

Optimist. I like that.

Today, we have widely accepted but opposing doctrines which cannot all be correct.
OSAS or not.
The sign gifts ended or they continue.
Good works are or are not necessary to receive eternal life.
The Eucharist is symbolic of or it really is the Body and blood of the Lord.
Water baptism is or is not required for salvation.

You can't be unborn again, as Salvation is not of us, its a God created eternal situation.
So, "OSAS", by default.

The sign gifts ended or they continue.

---------

This is mainly speaking about the "gift of Tongues", as this is the one gift that creates the firestorm between all of the Charismatic types, and the rest of the believers.
Here is what you were never taught.

1.) "Tongues are for a Sign", ...
2.) "Sign's are for the JEWS".......
3.) "The signs of an APOSTLE"

So, go find those on Google, and study on them a while and then see if you can find the right answer, according to your New Testament.

Good works are or are not necessary to receive eternal life.

Thats a nope.
Eternal life is Jesus, and if you have Him, (born again) then you have eternal life.
Done deal.
Other then that, the mass confusion about this topic stems from the fact that many have not understood that salvation and discipleship are not the same thing.
Here let me prove it.
You can be a disciple of Christ, a follower, and Jesus will tell you after you die...."I never knew you".
And you say... "but I was on christian forms all the time telling everyone that if they are not working for you, then they are not saved, as they are not keeping themselves saved, (like I tried to do)".
And Jesus says, (politely), you can work for me, but that has nothing to do with why my BLOOD ALONE SAVED YOU., as "you must be BORN AGAIN" to be saved, ....(and not by working to get in to heaven).

The Eucharist is symbolic of or it really is the Body and blood of the Lord.

-

It is Symbolic when Jesus explained it at the last supper, but twisted into a pretzel shaped heresy by all who think that if they get choked and spit out the cracker-wafer unto the church floor, after they have taken communion, they have literally spit out God.
Crazy?.....sure....beyond crazy, absolutely....= but that is how it goes,.... as when you find the hyper religious self sanctified you will always find the crazy in their (man made) doctrine.

Water baptism is or is not required for salvation.

It didn't save anyone in Jesus's day, or during the 40 days after His Resurrection, so, I vote "NOPE".
However, if you are going to follow Christ, then you should publicly proclaim it, and you should follow the Lord regarding being baptized, by immersion, ....but remember, just as it didn't save Jesus, its not going to save you.
For, if water had the power to save, then Jesus could have stayed in Heaven.
However, it does take blood and a sacrifice on a Cross, and a resurrection to pay for sins,..... and water, is none of those. (did you notice)?

This is what happened in the Roman Empire after it had been Christian (by imperial edict) for 3 or 4 hundred years.
It is the normal progression of societies where Christianity has become "normal." At first the society receives it happily and many strive for holiness, but after a few generations the same society is just going through the motions.
So we see Europe, the birthplace of the Reformation, having become a post-Christian, socialist (atheist) union which has allowed Islam to enter in mass and which will, in a generation or two, Islamic Europe.
America is also post-Christian with half the country working hard to remove any vestige of Christianity from sight as the Gospel is the enemy of socialism which promises a godless, secular, utopia.

Somebody said that there is nothing new under the sun.

iakov the fool
in the words of the Ecclesiastes writer nothing new under the sun .. the old saying goes histroy repeats it self.. the very things paul dealt with in his writings is happening today
