Victimized by another bad interpretation???

If you can't establish the correct context for scripture, then you will confuse the actual lesson to be learned through it by inserting your own ego where it doesn't belong.

Jer 4:3 ¶ For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.
Jer 4:4 - Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench [it], because of the evil of your doings.

Jeremiah 4 is not about us, but it was recorded for us that we might learn from its example of what God did to a rebellious people previously.

2Ti 3:16 - All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 - That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Rom 15:4 - For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

Scripture is for us, not about us. Where we see ourselves in situations similar to what befell our predecessors, scripture provides a guide to help us get back on track for Christ.

Forum: It is good that one can back/tract some at least;). Seeing that we can do so, shows that we can at least be 'led' some. And who knows what the end might be??:thumbsup

And when ones reads the verses of Jer. 4 + the Eccl. verses, there is no if and but's seen, but [CLEAR] facts!:thumbsup

Jer. 4
[23] [[I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was]] without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.
....
[25] [[I beheld, and, lo, there was no man]], and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
[26] I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof [[were broken down at the presence of the LORD]], and by his fierce anger.

Are you Vic's Amen corner?

I've been called worse.

I will just stick with my Mastdrs Previous quoted Word as stated!

Me, too.

What bothers me from folks who post on these Christian sites is that instead of 'learning' of the Lord's Word, they come on like gang busters telling the posting 'person' that this IS THE WAY THAT IT IS!

I spend - on average - at least 2 hours a night studying the Word, reading history, and researching material for posts and replies. I do this for the sheer love of it, and because I want to learn! But when I see someone taking whole passages completely out of context and not understanding to whom and for whom they were written, then I feel compelled - as someone who has hopefully learned better - to offer correction.

Whether anyone accepts such correction is entirely up to them, but I don't want people confused by the really bad hermeneutics I see coming from some here.

This stuff isn't as complicated as some make it. It just needs to be understood in context.
