What Are You Cooking ?

Let's see........... the other day, I cooked up a large pot of cheddar cheese/potato soup .... very tasty! That's kept me going for a bit ... with more of it stored in individual freezer containers for later use.

Today, for a change of pace, I barbecued up some boneless ribs....and made up a batch of my homemade barbecue sauce. Since the sauce has to simmer for several hours, the aroma caused me to be so hungry by the time the meal was finally ready.

Leftovers were divided into individual containers & stored in the freezer for later use.

Gonna BBQ some steaks tonight, my bride will steam some pota (green bok choy) with the traditional rice on the side, too busy with work to be very creative, but it's payday tomorrow......, we've already decided it will be a fish dinner Saturday!

Tama'a maitai,

(Enjoy your meal in Tahitian)

On the menu for tonight, no fish, :sad poissonnerie was out of the fish we wanted, soooooo, it's BBQ steak with chili beans and cornbread and mixed veggies on the side.

New steak seasoning I tried today.

Equal amounts of coffee beans and black peppercorns. Course grind in coffee grinder.

Leave the steaks out to warm to room temperature. Lightly coat the steaks with your preferred oil. I used grapeseed oil. Generously coat the steaks with the pepper & coffee seasoning about 30 minutes prior to charcoal grilling. Place the steaks over direct heat on each side for about two to three minutes to sear. Move to cool side of grill to finish to desired doneness. Season with sea salt for last minute of cooking.

Serve with sautéed mushrooms, onions, garlic. Maybe some chopped bell peppers would be a good addition too.
