What are you listening right now?

@Claudia. Hmmm...I wonder if there are other sites to which you could go. Have you tried Pandora or rdio.com? Pandora is completely free. rdio is free for the first 40 hours of music played, but it allows you to listen to a whole album unlike pandora, which chooses which songs you are able to listen.

There's some internet radio called last.fm where you can pretty much build your own playlist, and it's free. That would be a good idea. Thanks for that hint! :)

I was thinking of copying those songs into mp3s or finding a good proxy, but I'm not sure that's legal. Although I don't understand those copyright laws anyway, and in my opinion they are stupid and of doubtfull ethical value. So am I bound to obey laws I don't agree with?

Yeah, I kind of skirt that edge of ethics as I do go to some file sharing sites. My argument there is the music, for all that I know, is already paid for before it is uploaded. So, people are sharing music they already have, and are not asking for money, so they are not selling it. If you want to know of some PM me and I will give you a good site to peruse.

You guys want to be careful, anyway. I guess some folk have invested money and are entitled to their return.

I am quite sure they are getting their "return". For what it is worth, they make more off of their concert tours than they do off of record sales.

Yeah I wouldn't want to steal anything and musicians shall have their income of course! But on the other hand it's way more likely I buy a CD of a band I heard before than of a band I never heard because some copyright nazis didn't want me to listen to them. And the strict copyright enforcement also deprives those people of music that are in trouble anyway, like low income families. Those are the people that are having a harder access to cultural and educational stuff anyway, and those youtube blockades will distance them even further from education (music knowledge) and from the encouraging, edifying and healing quality music can have and thus lower their quality of life even more.

If I were a musician I know I'd rather earn less but be listened to everywhere on the world through the internet.

That is the weird thing, though. If an artist was able to get more exposure via the internet they would see bigger turnouts at their concerts. That is, if they put on a good show. The internet is a powerful tool that not everyone uses to their benefit.

Hi guys. Okay so I've been listening to Red's Glass House again.

As a track with a good combination of features, it really is outstanding, I reckon.

It's lyrics are definitely a prayer to the Lord to come in, in healing and restoration.

And it's so melodious, especially at its opening, and its soft ending.

And also: it's both melodious and really hard rock, too. Sometimes it's one or the other, but Glass House is both.

Great to think that young people into hard rock might be listening to this; their Christian friends able to point them to the lyrics.

Blessings.

(...You alone, You can see right through
This glass house we call home
You alone, You can take away the pain
You have shown, You can break right through
This glass house of our souls
Make us whole again, make us whole...Copyright Red)

AMEN! :)
Yes, that's why I love this song.

I like So Far Away, too.
I do think it's meant to be Christian, as well. Here's some of the lyrics:
"Remember when You found me drowning
You pulled me from the deepest end
I promised that I'd never leave You
But now I'm drowning again

It's killing me with every breath
Witnessing the life I lived
Only You know who I am
I'm reaching out my hand
"

Plus I can really relate to those lyrics. I know the feeling.

questdriven: I'm really glad that you introduced me, thirty years your senior, to this new album, Release the Panic. At least some of the tracks have clear Christian lyrics, and some of the others might grow on one a bit, too; as for the hard rock, it's outstandingly good, of course.

Always I'm thinking of the potential testimony opportunity angle, though. It's good to keep focused on this, isn't it?

Blessings, friend.

I love this. One of my favorite fandubs of an anime song. :)

I have been listening again to Red's Release the Panic track and Glass House, kind of in conjunction, one after the other. While on their own the lyrics of the Release the Panic track are maybe a bit obscure, yet taken with the clear, prayer lyrics of Glass House, the combination of them seemed to 'click' more. Taken together, they are particularly impressive.

In any case, they are part of a album, after all, I guess.

Tonight I listened again to Glass House, after having listened again to the track Release the Panic.

The music and lyrics to Glass House are, in combination, so forceful and triumphant, expressed as they are as a prayer.

Blessings.

PS:
It's the name of their new album, but it's also the name of the first track in that album.

I really like the way the chorus sounds on that one.

Hi questdriven:

You said you liked the sound of the chorus, referring I think to the track Release the Panic, in Red's album of the same name.

I've been listening to it over. Was wondering, in the chorus, is it the drums and electric guitar that you really like?

Or maybe the lyrics: 'Let it out...(etc.)'?

Or the rasping, throaty scream of the vocalist?

Or even maybe the combination of it all together?

It's memorable, anyway.

Blessings.

The combination, especially the way the words are said. The way "get it out, get it out, get it out" is sang seems to impart actual panic.

Ty. I guess for you it's the sort of strong rasping, throaty hard rock music that sounds really nice.

And maybe at a deeper level maybe you would also want it to be linked with affirming the need for a reckoning with divine purposes and for repentance?

Like I mentioned, in conjuction with the lyrics of another track such as Glass House - so faith affirming and triumphant in its melodious hard rock - the Release the Panic track does seem to make more sense, right?

Blessings.

Grave Robber-ReAnimator
Woah, oh, oh, oh

Spent three days in the bowls of Hell
Reanimator rise!
Snatched the keys from the devil himself
Reanimator rise!
Rolled the stone and conquered the grave
Reanimator rise!
Demons tremble at His name
Reanimator rise!

Giving life to the dead in transgression
Bring me to life, let Your will be done!

Whoah!
