What famous people have you crossed paths with?

When I was a little girl we lived in the same town as John Wayne and once we met him. Your's truly got to sit on his lap. The only thing I remember really is the tallest man on earth bending down and he had a very kind face.

When I was in my 20's I got to play photographer's asst. at a Celebrity Golf Tourniment.... which meant stood in the corner, held a camera bag and kept my mouth shut. Michael Jordan was there and he was a class act... so polite and hand's down the most gorgeous, perfect speciman of human male I have ever met in my life. I came up to his knee cap (OK so maybe a little taller)... to him, everyone was sir or ma'am and he treated everyone like they were special.

Alex Trebec from Jepordy was there and he was a real jerk. George Lindsay... Goober on the old Andy Griffth show was there and to him, everybody was his best friend. I kind of think he may have been a little drunk but he was genuinely friendly. Roy Clark... he was just a big slovely guy with a smile that never quite made it to his eyes....

It was a lot of fun watching the hoi-polloi...

Then there was the time that Jeri Ryan of Star Trek Voyager fame did a commercial for the computer company I worked for and came to the plant to see the production of the computers. She walked around and signed autographs but she was very professional and kind of distant. What surprised me the most was how "regular" she looked in person... I mean, just like another person that one would meet at work or at the store or something. I never, ever ask for autographs and didn't speak to her... but it was a pretty big deal down at the plant in Meridian, Idaho.

I mean... Computers Teck Geeks and Jeri Ryan... It's a wonder the girl made it out alive. ;)
LOL. seven of nine. was that before st:voyager?

... Joan Beaz (sheesh the folk singer) lived in the house there.... her black XKE would pass the school bus as she was heading home in carmel valley
"Virgil Caine is my name and I rode in the XKEeeeeeeeeeee":guitar

(And don't forget to :clap during the chorus.)

...and him calling you a pilgrim.

I get that a lot, too.

I think that was prolly shrooms, not alcohol.

Roy Clark... he was just a big slovely guy with a smile that never quite made it to his eyes....
'Slovely'? Did you mean to say 'lovely', or 'slovenly'?

He kinda had that 'Little Orphan Annie' look, didn't he?

Trust me, I'm not a Next Generation Star Trek fan, but is that possible?

I have had the honor to met 2 wonderfull men of God... Ralph Mahoney and Brian Bailey Years ago they founded http://world-map.com/publications.html

Was blessed to have a short conversation with Mr. Mahoney along with his teaching and Mr. Bailey is/was just amazing.. The knowledge of the Word was astounding...

Yeah something out of the Assemblies of God org! :p

I am not sure if I ever shared this anywhere on this site, but back in the late 90's I was working at a Rand McNally store in a mall in Southern California. Well, during the Christmas season that year I was working behind the cash register when who walk in...Haley Mills.

I may be showing my age here, but yes, I have seen her play Polyanna, but well after the movie first came out. I have also seen some episodes of that horrible tv show "Saved by the Bell" where she played a teacher.

Anyway, she came up to the counter, I looked and immediately recognized her and my mind locked up. I remember her asking if we had any GPS trackers, I distracted her by pointing at some merchandise behind her and I made a beeline for the back of the store. Once there I said to my manager, "Pollyanna is in the store!"

My manager was rather surprised I knew who she was, but that was my none-to-smooth encounter with a celebrity.

So far, I have not met any other celebrities. Hopefully, if I ever do I will not make a complete @** of myself.

She shared your encounter with her in her memoirs...

"...then he pointed to a stack of toilet paper behind me and when I turned to look he disappeared, and I never saw him again."

the kittens on the ranch in Carmel Valley, their dad belonged to Hank Ketcham the guy who wrote Denis the Menace

Joan Bias lived across the creek....

He was too creepy looking to come into the yard :biggrin2

Went to High School with a couple real kids from Yours mine and ours ... Mike was the student body president Rusty and i had the same history class...

Met Bubba Paris... a HUGH man and a godly one....

Now, now, reba ... President Nixon was one of the very nicest & polite politicians I've ever met in my life ... and I've met a lot of them on local, state & national levels. His wife Pat was charming. It was always heart-warming to see the love in their eyes for each other.

I met Billy Korigan who is the lead singer for the Smashing Pumpkins. Ronnie Coleman who was a Arlington Texas police officer who turned bodybuilder and won Mr. Olympia like 7 or 8 times. I found out from my grandmothers extensive geneology that there are some interesting famous people in our family. One of them is John Marshall who was the 4th supreme court justice of the U.S. There were at least 2 other Marshall's that are in our family that fought in the battle of San Jacinto. Another is Captain John Chappell who was the second captain of the Speedwell ship that was a sister ship of the Mayflower.

Attending a Bible study at a local Christian radio station, they've had a few Christian music artists speak there.

One was Mark Smeby, and he's not all that well-known but I have one of his CDs and he's spoken at the Bible study a couple times.
A couple of years ago I had made a drawing based on one of his songs. Well one day I got an e-mail from him about my drawing and how he liked it. That was pretty cool.

There's also Jason Bare, another Christian artist who has spoken at the Bible study several times.
I'm the substitute PowerPoint operator at said Bible study, and the last time Jason Bare was there I got to prepare a PowerPoint slide with the lyrics from one of his brand new songs. I had to type the lyrics out while reading off his sheet music for the song. Normally I copy and paste the lyrics off a website, but this particular song was not officially released yet, being from an upcoming album I believe.

And there's also the band October Glory, which has been there a time or two. When bands are there they often sell CDs and maybe some merchandise. I didn't have the money for a CD and they just gave it to me.

And I don't know if this counts, but I'm related to a famous person in American history. I'm a direct descendant of Benjamin Franklin.
