Disclaimer - this is in no way a pro homosexual thread, nor is it a thred about marriage, adoption, wheter its a sin, or any of that nonsense, this is the only homosexual thread I've ever made

I keep hearing about this thing called the Homosexual/gay life style. No one will define it. I already listed over a dozen different sub cultures within the gay community in the most recent locked thread from CE.. I have not seen a single lifestyle, but many different lifestyles.

So I ask, What is the gay lifestyle? I don't want a pornagraphic description. Just is the characteristics of the lifestyle?

list of sub cultures I mentioned in the CE thread.
leather queens/dadies , Bears, fems/queens, straight acting/Butch, Twinks, Gym queens,Crystal queens, Ravers, drag queens

from my expercience, loving and caring for a fellow man. while the other areas arent much different than other orientions.

Promotion of sexuality?

Let me see if I can help Lance.

Gay lifestyle = sinful lifestyle. Class over.

This is not a pramotion of sexuality.

I have no problem with people thinking homosexuality is a sin. What I have a problem with is people lumping an entire group of men and women together and talking about them as a single entitity.

Gay men and women don't have the same lifestyle. There are many different subcultures and lifestyles within the community.

Not all white, black, christian, jewish, asian, geek etc. have the same lifestyle. Yet I see this board cling to the idea that all gay men and women are the same.

What ever happened to hate the sin and not the sinner?

I've seen many posts where homosexuals are compared to child molesters. I've had PM's that have asked me how I could support such a "lifestyle".

I don't mind if you guys think how me and 10% of the populations feels is a sin. What I care about is the automatic lableing as "bad, corrupters, queers, destroyers" people.

So, what is the gay lifestyle?

I've spoken about my aunt before on this forum and how she led a "homosexual lifestyle" for many years. I can't speak for everyone, but when I said it I meant simply: homosexual.

Lance, is this an offensive term? I mean, we don't go around saying "the heterosexual lifestyle," do we? If it is offensive, I don't mean to be.

Ditto. When I think of gay lifestyle I think of folks that are attracted to their same sex and act on that attraction. Nothing more, nothing less.

Lance, you are reading too much into one statement and doing the very thing you are complaining about.

"This forum" "You christians" etc..... Gimme a break. Find a different way to get attention besides bringing homosexuality into every post. :biglaugh

I don't think I've ever used to term.
I know and have known many gay people in my life.
Mostly liberal but some very conservative.
It is misleading to think of any group having a set lifestyle due to their characteristcs.
Perhaps a few things can be called at least factors in determining lifestyle.

Gay

Secrecy
depression
addiction

All others

Secrecy
depression
addiction

Hmmmm.

Thats the funny thing. I don't talk about homosexuality in every post.

You want me to stop talking about it. Then stop making topics and blaming the entire community. :)

gojubrian and lance, i know that you all disagree but be civil.
i see lance has a point we here tend to talk about homosexuals more than he does, i find it ironic.
i think lance wants to clarify something here, and i dont feel he is promoting sin, you know that i would comment otherwise if he did. it's not wrong to ask and inquitre exaclty what being gay is.

I don't think of homosexuality as "who" someone is. I think Satan perverts a persons identity and then the flesh will either gratify or not. But even a person who is trying to abstain is living below Gods best because Jesus can deliver you from that perverse spirit completely.
First you have to recognize what it is and stop thinking it's who you are. Once the lie is up you are a step closer to freedom.

I recommend the book, "they shall expel demons" by Derik Prince. He counseled a Christian who struggled with homosexuality and then discovered the true problem, and was able to help the guy get completely free through Jesus. Just get the book if you have questions.

of course that's true, i brought that up before. i believe that i stated as in my testimony.
my fear with the gay rights movement that we christians wont be able to call that sin, because some will see it as hate.

anything that is agianst what the bible says is pure is actually perverse, and all sin is perverse.

It's quite obvious what the homosexual lifestyle is. Living as a homosexual......

:help

Then expalin what living as a homosexual means. I'm not just talking about men either, I'm also talking about women and the intersexed. Since they can be homosexuals to.

I don't see how this is confusing. Wouldn't you be better able to describe it? :eyebrow

I agree. Wouldn't the homosexual lifestyle be one that one leads that has homosexual acts or thoughts? It seems very simple to me.

Here lies the problem. What is defined as all inclusive homosexual thoughts and acts? The only universal similarity amongst all homosexuals is the attraction to the same gender as yourself. Anything else is subjective and depends on cultural influence and socieity.

A life style is a way of living that is governed by similar actiosn and views within that lifestyle. In order to do this, we'd have to show a list of agreed upon selection of what is universal of all homosexuals. We'd also have to show a universal stance on beliefs and rituals.

This forms a paradox. There are many subgroups within the community.

Bears and straight acting gay men don't share the same cultural manerisms as a twink or drag queen.

Fems/queens don't share the same ideologie as Leather dadies/queens.

Butch females don't share the same manerisms as fem females.

The "gay lifestyle" is an over simplifeied umbrealla term that dosen't even cover the many different and basic ideologies within the community. Its like trying to say all straight peopel share the same life style and ideology.

Not every homosexual is the same Lance, ofcourse everyone knows this.

What is the same is every homosexual that practices homosexuality is living a homosexual lifestyle. Whether they like golf or tennis, wearing red vs. wearing blue, etc is quite irrelevant.

Like I said earlier. You are reading WAY too much into such a small meaning statement. :confused

But it brings it back to the point I'm trying to make. In order for somethig to be a "lifestyle", it has to have a definitive set of ideals and rituals.

You are avoiding the very thing that needs answered. What are the set ideals and rituals one must have to be part of the homosexual life style? If there are none that all share, there is no lifestyle.

Feeling love, romance, and attraction to the same gender isn't a lifestyle, its an emotion. Fetishes are a lifestyle, religions are a lifestyle, philosophies are a lifestyle.

Being gay can be part of a lifestyle, but it isn't one in itself.
