I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone's churches are like. Is your church good? what is your denomination.

I love mine it is fun It is lively and has a good feel. I really like mine though I have not been there long. It is pentecostal. it has really nice people. :)
here is the website of mine.

Welcome to Church 180, Newcastle Australia

Chris, I'm a rootin-tootin, rip-roaring independent fundamentalist, Bible-waving Baptist who attends an Assembly of God church. The pastor is an outstanding teacher, the church believes in soul-winning, and the majority of the church are involved in some kind of Christian work.

My churches are all different.

One thing they all have in common is absolutely amazing pastors. There are many things that are important to me in a church, but I think the common theme is the pastors of these churches. I need a pastor who I can respect and trust. One who is highly knowledgeable (and often very educated), yet humble and down to earth. Someone who is captivating, but not fake. The pastors at the churches I attend are not all the same either-- nor is their delivery and style the same.

The people are not the same at all the churches. Nor are the programs the same.

I know this post is kinda non-specific since I attend more than one church. :lol They are all pentecostal churches, but they do not all have the same doctrine, nor are they of the same denomination within the pentecostal heading.

Not sure what else to say about them. They really do have wonderful pastors! :thumbsup

Oh, and I also attend a reform temple, but the past few months I have been unable due to traveling too much.

I am starting to like pentecostal you dont feel embarrased to do things like raise hands during worship if you felt led to coz everyone else does too plus it can be like a concert, is yours like that too?

Chris, looks like your have a pretty cool church. I often tell my wife; "if we ever have to ditch this country we're moving to Australia". I don't know why I say that, just feel like I'd fit in there I guess.

Anyway, my church currently is a non-denomination Christian church with a Baptist/Pentecostal founding group. Strange mix, but we have some "hand raisers" that can feel the spirit, and some "bible thumpers" who can quote from any version by memory. :lol

It's a young energetic church less than a mile from my home. My kids love it and we love the people there. However we are not yet members. Maybe this next year. Life Fellowship Church - HOME

Here is a link to my former church where I'm still a member. Hope Church - Memphis, TN | A church for the unchurched Hope Presbyterian, just a little east of Memphis TN.

Well....... I am not a fan of the concert-like praise and worship, but that is just a personal thing with me. I tend to be more traditional in my worship. One of the churches I attend does have praise and worship that is like a concert, and to be honest, that is the reason I do not attend it on Sundays. :lol I absolutely love the pastor and the church, and I used to attend it on Sundays many years back when they had a traditional service, but since they only have contemporary now then I only attend on Wednesday when they still have it traditional. :)

I discovered a new church recently that I would love to go back to sometime, and they have praise and worship that is like a concert........ which is the only reason I hesitate in returning. :lol The pastor there is really wonderful.

But certainly, even in the more traditional pentecostal worship services there are people who raise their hands, dance around, jump up and down, etc.

My chrurch is exacly like what you are looking at right now.

I LOVE my church! We are a family--a large family!

What are you doing here if you have such a low opinion of the forum?

I am with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, and our church is one of the biggest in the synod. We have over 1500 people in worship on a given weekend across 5 different worship services ranging from traditional to contemporary.

We have a Kindergarten-8th grade school attached, so we have a very vibrant body with many children and parents, but there are the old-timers too. Our church is over 150 years old, established then by German settlers.

Like Mike, (hi bro :waving) I'm Lutheran Church Missouri Synod as well. We tend to want to spell all that out so as not to be confused with the Evangelical Lutheran Church, that is taking a turn for the worse.

My is probably one of the smallest in the synod, only about 80-100 members, but I like the fact that all age groups are present. I'd say there are more older folks than any other age group, but still there are people our age, younger adults, teens and little kids and our newest member who is about 6 weeks old.

Even though it's a small church we are inordinately blessed with not one but two excellent pastors. Pastor McCoy is semi retired and only is there part time, but his insight into the Scriptures is amazing. Pastor Reeder is young, is a great teacher and he isn't into "let's have a rock concert every Sunday in order to bring in the lost" mentality that seems so prevalent today. We follow the litergy, so it's very traditional, which Steve and I like.

I go to a babtist church . But dont class myself as one. I class myself as a christain and only go because its close. I'm thinking of finding another one or giving up going as I'm not really getting much out of it. Do we really need to go to church to be a christain, surly not.

i am pentacostal as well and my church isnt the way off the wall type but we have the manifestations of the gifts as well.

Following up with what Dora said, when we Lutherans Missouri Synod always include the MS, it's because of the liberalism that has led the Evangelical (ELCA) so far away, we want to be certain people don't only hear "Lutheran" and think ELCA if that's all they know. I've had discussions here with members who only know ELCA, and so when I say I'm Lutheran, that's what they have in mind. They love the Lord and are equally a part of the Body of Christ, because they hold the same tenets that biblical Christians do, but they've strayed in a number of, while not salvation issues, important ones. I like to clarify that.

I enjoy the liturgy as well. I don't feel personally like I've been to a worship service if I've been to one of our other "progressive" services. The liturgy just feels right to me. Funny how someone mentioned Baptists as being very organized: sing, scripture, sing, scripture. I've visited Baptist services, and they seem very free wheeling from my perspective. Maybe there is an order of worship that they follow and expect, but from an outsider, it seems like it's led with great spontaneity.

One thing I feel particularly good about is that most of the congregation doesn't bring a Bible. We have pew Bibles available for everyone, but sadly I'd estimate 1/2 of the congregation doesn't open them up and follow as the readings and messages are delivered. We don't have Wednesday services except during Lent and Advent, so I don't associate Wednesday with Worship. This got me into trouble one night when I called StoveBolts on a Wednesday night, and I heard it from him the next day when he laughingly razzed me about his phone going off during worship. I didn't know! :lol

We have a Saturday night service which is praise music, early Sunday morning which is very conservative hymns, mid-morning which is more contemporary (but not rock) music. At the same time is a progressive service in our chapel with people sitting at round tables and rock music. And finally we have a Sunday afternoon aimed at members in their 20's where they used technology (texting, email...) I haven't been to one, so i can't say anything more. And we have the Bible study hour at 9:30am with small group Bible studies happening throughout the week in the evening at members' homes.

We have a soup kitchen when the homeless come 1 time per week for dinner, and we support various missionaries throughout the world. It's a very vibrant church/school with a lot happening all week.

Gotta hand it to you, Chris. You got a good thread started here.
Thanks mate! You know I thought to myself this will be a thread everyone can comment on and be right because they are talking about their own experiences i thought this is going to be a good peace and love thread.
