What Pleased Our Father

How come there wasn’t a hedge around the apostles?

You know who is spoken of as having a hedge? Job, a righteous man. Jesus never promised a hedge. He said he came to give an abundant life, not a protected one.
The Apostles learned the LORD is my defence. Psa.92:22 He said nothing shall by any means hurt you. Lk.10:19
If nothing can separate us from God, then we're always under his protection.

Pretty sure being crucified hurt Peter. Our sin separates us from God. And the scripture is “nothing can “separate us from the love of God,” not God.

Luke 10:19 is in the time of spiritual battle and the promise no harm, not you’ll never hurt.

There are solid believers here who have been hurt by others so your understanding doesn’t match real life. He never promised we won’t feel pain.

I didn't mean the death of the flesh is painless, but it can't harm us.

“Harm” is the actual word, not hurt. There are people who left the faith believing no hurt would come to then when it did, they abandoned the faith. They hurt and didn’t die. So that idea of “no hurt can come to you” isn’t promised and isn’t true.

I didn't think I needed to qualify my response by saying, "Walking after the Spirit" (following Jesus) is necessary for protection from all harm,

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Rom.8:1

Both humans and angels who abandoned God will be damned.

It’s absolutely necessary because many are taught it’s automatic and they needs do nothing at all.

Few teach the requirements to inherit the promises.

True although that’s not the criteria. The criteria is sin.

I think I'm having a problem forgetting others who may not be as astute as you might be reading. Yes, sin is abandoning God. I hope listeners don't need that qualified.

The Bible doesn’t define sin as such as such. There are several lists of sin. “Abandoning God” isn’t one of them.

journeyman, saying God condemns people to hell “for abandoning him” makes Him look petty. Makes it sound like the problem isn’t that man has raped or murdered or stole but that God felt “abandoned.”

It is when we think of it as leaving our first Love. The Bible defines sin as

the transgression of the law. 1Jn.3:4 and

to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin. Jas.4:17

If the apostles weren't protected they would have been deader than a hammer within the a year. Did they live to fulfill their ministries or not? If they did, then there was a hedge around then, and I'm not so spiritually dim I don't know the difference between suffering persecution and being killed.

If a man never loved God then he can’t be said to have left it.

I see that you want to believe there’s a hedge around you and nothing harmful can come to you. Nothing I say is likely to dissuade you. Hope nothing harmful ever happens to you.

I just showed where the scribes esteemed him smitten of God In judgement. I also just showed how they were wrong.
gorden777,
Will you agree with me that what our Lord Jesus Christ was charged with was a lie and that by the law given through Moses, could have had his accusers put to death?
The judgement of God is for Christ to taste death for every man, that was right, that was done. ( this is the grace of God to save us..)

Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
