Hey King Dan of Great the 1st

Really? Can't you put more than 3 sentences in a post? Do you have to 'send' each thought that comes into your head as they come into your head? Just asking?

However, as regards the issue at hand. I expect it to get resolved. Remember McCarthy's playing with some professionals at this and I think he's proven that he's not particularly up to speed on 'how' everything works. Any democratic position would only need a couple of republicans to move the bill, and there are still at least some republican legislators who understand the real implications of what this would mean to us as a nation economically.

I get it that everyone wants us to spend less money. I'm with you and I here you. But causing the nation to fall into default isn't the way to accomplish that. In fact, it would do just the opposite because it would likely raise our borrowing costs astronomically the longer it went on.

Of course, this isn't the first time we've come to this point. The U.S. has failed to extend a budget ceiling 4-5 times in just the last 25-30 years or so. But it always gets worked out and life goes on. I expect that to happen here again. This is just a lot of sword rattling. Everyone pretty much knows that we're not wanting to know what happens when the United States of America starts defaulting on its bills.

However, the matter of spending less should be addressed when the annual budget comes up.

God bless,
Ted

What causes it?. Too much spending, not enough income?.
No, the congress has to pass a budget and if the budget is not passed payments stop. Generally the government doesn't work the same as a business or household when it comes to financing. The debt is borrowed against the trust of the dollar and future gdp. Hypotheticly the debt could go on forever. Fiscally it's better to bring the debt down because it strengthens the dollar.

But you would need income to pay back government spending or for government to spend. How does debt get payed back?. I guess most of it would be through taxes.

What happens if a country slows down?. It would go backwards. You need population growth to keep an ecoomy growing right?.

I don't know too much about economics.

What would happen if everyone stopped working and went on welfare?.
In the US there really isn't much "welfare" people earning under a specific line have access to food stamps, but its limited. Disability needs to be applied for and vetted. Outside of that you are on your own. Unless you are a child, then there are more programs.

Essentially the US has federal, state, and local tax systems that fund the government. Income taxes, capital gains, property, and sales taxes make up the bulk. This pays for infrastructure, the military, services, entitlements, and subsidies. The debt is against future tax collection and the dollar. So as long as there is money flowing through the ecconomy, generally the government can function.

Ecconomic goes into needs such as food, shelter, resources, labour, entertainment/recreation, medical, and maintenence.

So people wanting to take part in the ecconomy needs to provide anf/or consume the above.

Hi Milk-Drops

Good explanations. I don't think a lot of people really understand the workings of our government, especially on the national level. I appreciate your understanding in this.

God bless,
Ted

I do because I work for the local one and also the military has interactions at all levels.

There's more then just infantry in the military .

You have water plant operators .those that build them ,dig wells, air field builders and traffic .

You have also veterinarians and also plumbers ,surveyors .

Lineman's , telephone operators and their cable laying guys.

Food stamps along with housing assistance, medical assistance, cash, WIC, home heating fuel assistance, plus the network of food banks and meal delivery programs and probably others that I am not thinking of right now.

Depends where you are rural or urban. Wic, home hearing, and cash also tend to be for either children or the retires. Average Joe get barely anything. My retired veteran grandfather would get his gas and electric turned off in a second until I paid 2 bills and a deposite. That was with assistance.

VA is seperate .

You have VA hash,VA medical care and the rating system.if you can work like me but say your septic system fails and you don't make enough to pay for it or get a loan .you are out of luck .

I have a local group that helps vets with food ,housing ,and other needs to include PTSD support .

I prefer not to be drugged into oblivion and avoid the VA for PTSD .rather then show me how to avoid triggers and learn how to function .here is your drugs .

Why is it socialist politicians always go on to become millionaires why the regular person is broke and miserable?.
It's a complicated answer. Politic8ans tend to be stable financially and earn connections while serving. It's also a situation of are they socialist or social democrat? One wants to abolish capitalism, the other just wants capitalism with regulations.

People have a cry some peope are too wealthy multi billionaires, but then to the regular person just the Presidents salary is wealthy. Where is the line on wealthy?. Too someone people just having a working fridge with food in it is major wealthy.
