The day is laid out from Creation when it was made, and the time is from sunset on the sixth day, Friday to sunset at the end of the seventh day, Saturday....

Many people get confused as to when the Sabbath is, to say nothing of those who brougth in Sunday as a day of worship. The Sabbath is and has been from Creation on the seventh-day, but when does it begin. Well if you look in scripture in Genesis, chapter 1, whenever a new day of creation is declared, it says, "and the evening and the morning were the first (or second, or third, etc.) day".

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
6And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
9And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
10And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.
11And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
12And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
13And the evening and the morning were the third day.
14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
15And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
16And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
17And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
18And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
19And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
20And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
21And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
22And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
23And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
24And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.
25And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
26And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
29And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. 31And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:1-31

..look at verses 5, 8, 13,19, 23, 31, for instance.
Each day of the creation week began at sunset with the dark part, since darkness was here first, and ended with the following sunset so the Sabbath is from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday.

Also please consider these verses —

Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
Genesis 2:1-3

  • He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
  • My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.

For this reason the Jews persecuted Jesus, and sought to kill Him, because He had done these things on the Sabbath. But Jesus answered them, “My Father has been working until now, and I have been working.” John 5:16-17

When it is a work that glorifies God and shows our love for Him and our fellowman, God is pleased and we are blessed..

Jesus and the Father were and are still working to this day, therefore the rest has not yet come, which is why it is said, there remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:4-9

If they are willing, and someone is able to find them, an Israelite with experiential knowledge of Y'SHUA and the Hebrew language.... (perhaps a six year old even? who was raised right and abides in Y'Shua) ....

can with no argument, no disagreement, no contradiction at all,
cleanly, properly, and easily explain this >>

The seventh day May mean something different to God than you think it means.

Paul explains —

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Colossians 2:16-17

The seventh day of the week is a shadow of the rest to come.

For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:8-9

Do you ask God to reveal salvation and truth to you ?
HE is well pleased to reveal salvation and truth to little children and hides it from educated scholars....

What difference does this make , you might ask?

When God reveals the Truth, then if you believe what God reveals, then you have HIS meaning, and not man's corrupt meaning.

Oh, man's corruption is much much more common, and more comfortable (to the flesh) to believe and to go along with, of course. After all, the world, the flesh, loves it's own. The truth is hated.

We are discussing the Sabbath.

As the scriptures plainly show, there is a rest to come for the people of God.

The weekly Sabbath only points to things to come; a rest to come.

Would you like to discuss salvation?

Please start a thread about salvation, so we don't derail this one.

As the scriptures plainly show, there is a rest to come for the people of God.
Is this the thorn in the flesh that keeps irritating you or provoking you ?

In line with Jesus, all Scripture, and many believers since the first century and every century since then,
we in Jesus who already experience Jesus' Rest Perfectly and Joyously DAILY, and testify of HIM for HIS GLORY.

As "The Kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteous , peace and joy " all without measure today, and without cost. The same as it was in the first century, so it was for the Anabaptists for a time while they were abiding in Jesus, and others through every century, and even TODAY.

Little children ENJOY HIS PEACE and JOY and RIGHTEOUSNESS daily, who are abiding in Jesus ....and they already have and know experientially the rest Jesus Provides.

He is the Perfect Shepherd, we lack for nothing.

Is this the thorn in the flesh that keeps irritating you or provoking you ?

No thorn in the flesh here. Just showing you the scriptures that teach us the weekly Sabbath points to the rest to come.

We all enter Eternal rest through the work of Jesus. Each man can choose which day of the week or every day the same.

The ceremonial tends to be different, but the ultimate reality is entering into His Rest.

I really respect each man’s decision about shadows. We see through a glass darkly, but we are not blind.

The seventh day of the week is a shadow of the rest to come.
This refers to the new heaven and new earth.

(((((((Today)))))) is just a shadow of things to come. After we have our glorified bodies and enter his rest we no longer live in the shadow of things to come.

It refers to the millennial reign with Christ for 1000 years which refers to the seventh prophetic day of rest!

Man has been here on earth for approximately 6000 years.

But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8

During the millennial reign his law according to Ezekiel is practiced including sacrifice. This is because we are still living in the shadow of things to come during that time.

The seventh day is yet to come.
Since we all depend on God for life if He stopped providing us life all life on earth would die if God stopped all work, plus the Universe would not continue to orbit flawlessly. There would be planetary collisions.

Certainly! The passage you’ve quoted is from the book of Hebrews in the New Testament. Let’s take a closer look at it:

Hebrews 4:8-9 (ESV):

“For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God.”
