we don't need guns cause chuck norris has been teaching us...

chuck norris even used guns look at his old movies, ie missing in action.

nick, merry christmas.

we definetly need more chuck norris in the world.

Folks, I've been pretty sick for the last two days, and I could use some prayer.

Nick, you don't need guns. Crocodile Dundee taught you how to use a knife.

"That's not a knife. This is a knife" :lol

Praying for you, Vince.

since you are a history buff you should do something on the roman soldier's armor and the battle tacticts they used from the different era and wars, it would be fun. glad that you have recovered.

I'm afraid that I'm more of a WW2 buff.

Ask people what was the greatest invasion of WW2, and most will reply "D-Day." But the invasion of Okinawa was bigger.

D-Day was the biggest offensive in the western front, and probably Europe, but I don't think the entire war. I'm a modern history buff too, although I"m more of a ww1 person.

Jason: I seem to remember something unique about the Roman army's structure and tactics during ancient history class 5 years ago...could you refresh me?

the phalanx. and the use of the calvary. the phalanx was used for offense and defense, it was also used as a diversion for the calvary, the calvary would use hannibals tactics.

hmm i need to start a thread on that stuff, been a while since i looked at that. did you say ww1 buff?
i have some more pics of that era stuff if you want it.

jutland as the jutes? hmm we need to look at that time.
At this time, I would just like to say that I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

:D

english history and the roman occupation of it.

the world england means land of the anglos.

anglo-saxons (anglo and saxons originaly)and the jutes were the primarily tribes that romans had to conquer along witht celts(with a k not a c sound), once the tribes united rome was in trouble. all are germanic tribe that travel out yrs before the romans came.

ever heard of the movie beowolf, written in the early to late 800's if i'm correct, and it was passed down by oral traditition before that.

Oh. :|

Cool! I like Beowulf. It was an awesome movie. I would have much rather read the book though. The Romans were always trying to take over the world, like it belonged to them or something. :screwloose
Someone ought to have taught them a lesson eventually--now look at them, they're a mostly dead culture :shame

the beowulf thing is originally from germany or norway, not sure the vikings held denmark and the england for a while, the england we know was established after the unification of england, wales and scotland. england was conquired by the man named william the conqueror in 1066,he was of norman descent, which the french world for viking and the person who he defeated edward I of hastings was also a viking.

fyI latin when spoken its italian and when written its latin. the modern latin that is.

so i was told.

The Battle of Jutland was an indecisive naval battle between Germany and England in WW1. One of the greatest naval battles in history, it clearly showed the error of mixing obsolete warships with modern warships.

Britain took heavier losses, but the Germans took more damage. However, the blockaded Germans could not fully repair their ships, while England could. Both sides claimed victory.

Since Germany failed to break the British blockade, I feel that Britain won.
