Why are non-Christians members of CF.net?

It wouldn't be much of a discussion if everyone was like "I agree." "Yes I agree. Praise Christ." "Christ be Praised."
Hmmm... Have you seen many threads without agnostic input sound like this, because few really come to mind right now. :D I'd say we could have some pretty spirited discussions even without them. The ones that come here for trouble get fleshed out and are short lived. It is interesting to have well thought-out agnostics or other non-Christians here if they have an amicable approach.

I think many of us when we join a Christian forum, join it expecting a nice little retreat from the world to share our thoughts with just our brothers and sisters but then are surprised to find a good number of nonChristians here. It baffles us at first as to why they would come. I know I felt that at first and had the same questions as you. I mean I would never go to an atheist, witch, or muslim forum because I just don`t share any of their beliefs.

What I have found is there are a few nonChristians who are here just out of curiosity. They just want to try and understand the Christian perspective although they are not seeking conversion. However, the majority are here to convert to their religion/way of thinking or to argue with Christians to try and prove us wrong. But we have our Bible which we know is true so their arguments are fruitless and vain. This group is just wasting their time, but the former group is an all right group because they don`t mean any harm.

1)2) They wish to impart their knowledge onto people who perhaps have not been exposed to that knowledge due to lack of education
QUOTE]

I think Christians would find this to be a rather condescending reason for a nonChristian to come here especially if the the nonChristian was looking at us as uneducated people who needed knowledge imparted to us. Moreover, we would not be inclined to feel a nonChristian would be the person to be educating us on God. Whatever this imparted knowledge about Godly things a nonChristian wanted to impart, I think would be dismissed as useless. The only knowledge we are seeking on a Christian forum is Biblical knowledge.

I'm from a group of people whom are first in line to be punched in the face by Christians. I myself have experienced Violence, Unjust eviction in the name of the bible.

I will be honest I don't like Christians I fear them borderline hate them, I do sincerely think about 1/3rd of you would attack or kill me if there were no repercussions of your actions a second third wouldn't kill me but would watch.

But my more reasonable side knows this isn't a valid way to live hell nearly the whole world has some association with people like you and fundamentalist Christians have significant political representation thus I will invariably have to deal with laws made from the same arguments that were used to subject me to those events in my past.

I've pretty much after hurting myself endlessly trying given up trying to find common ground or compromise. Never the less I still often have questions or wounder about what I see as monstrous hypocrisy in your words and actions and often want to try and understand how you justify those positions in as non-confrontational way as possible as getting vicious like that won't answer my authentic questions.

I don't want these questions answered here but they are questions I'm generally getting at.

How can you say "thou shalt not kill" and be anti abortion... AND support military life an institution who by design kills offensively.

How can you say your for the family when I see young transgender teens begin literally thrown into the streets and disowned and having there futures intentionally ruined by christian parents.

and other situations.

Pebbles, you could start 2 new threads with each of your questions. It could make an interesting discussion.

This is a pretty potent example of why I am glad that CF.Net allows non-Christians to become members.

Honestly, I've never met a Christian in my life, and I've been one for over 30 years, who would ever think about killing someone who is transgender. Nor any who would stand by and watch.

And yet I have no doubts of the sincerity of Pebbles remarks here.

Because, even though I know that none of the Christians that I have personally interacted with in the past 30 years would do such a thing...I've known plenty that have made some fairly hateful remarks about gays, lesbians, and trans. Most of this is due to the fact that gays, lesbians and trans are pushing towards equal rights and Christians are pushing back...and Christians are unwisely allowing political rhetoric to overshadow the Gospel message.

It would be easy for us to say to Pebbles, "Oh, but anyone who would treat you with such hatred surely isn't a Christian" and we would be right in saying so. But, it doesn't negate the fact that Pebbles has experienced hatred first hand by some who claim to be Christian, and taking those personal experiences and combining them with the heated political rhetoric that many in the Church are expressing...Pebbles' comments are sadly understandable.

We NEED to see this. We NEED to understand the impact of the current political climate is having on the Church's ability to share God's love. And, we will not come to such an understanding if we keep ourselves wrapped in a Christian bubble, only associating with other Christians and never engaging the world except in negative ways such as coming out against gay marriage or abortion.

We NEED to understand that the fear and the hatred that is building against the church is quite real. And we will come to that understanding only when we talk with and listen to non-Christians.

Very, very, very well stated Dora. :)

My experiences and convictions mirror yours, as does my conclusion:

And we should remember Christ's warning about "...causing any of these little ones to stumble..." We must watch what we say, and how we act towards others, all others, at all times.

I'm here, not to seek reconversion, but to tell my side of the story. . . . in that not all who "call upon the name of the lord will end up saved". At the same time, I am not hoping that others will fall away from their faith. That's their business. However, what I do hope is to show where the church perhaps has a blind spot, due to their piousness, when it comes to why some don't read their words and automatically convert. True life isn't like the Chick Tracts.

HI! You are 'spiritually' sweet, but what church are you attending?? Surely one MUST BELIEVE CHRIST FIRST, huh? And if we give CF credits which I do (kind' of;).. way to many mods for me!)

Note His Words here in Matt. 10:5-6 are to HIS Church even!

[5] These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
[6] But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

....

[14] And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
[15] Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

[16] Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.
[17] But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;
[18] And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.
.....
[20] For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.
[21] And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.
[22] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

[23] But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

(This is surely a message for our day, for Christ was ALREADY THERE SPEAKING! But, forum, what kind of shape are the Rev. 17:1-5 ones in as we speak???? If you are [ALIVE] today in 2011 & you are not found in 2 Thess. 2:1-3 'FALLING AWAY' from this satanic trite found INSIDE of your yoked church's?? Then you best prayfully read Matt. 25's 'ALL' WAKE UP! ibide. 10 finds the DOOR SHUT! )

[24] The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.
[25] It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?
[26] Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
[27] What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.
....

[32] Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
[33] But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

[34] Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
[35] For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
[36] And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
[37] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

[38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
