Why didn't the serpent (devil) tempt Adam? Why would he have to tempt and deceive Eve? Did he just abandon Adam?
I have 2 more threads about Adam. Will post them the next 14 hours. So busy and merry to do that now. Still celebrating Barça win...
Because Adam and Eve are a picture of Christ and his bride, the church.Why didn't the serpent (devil) tempt Adam? Why would he have to tempt and deceive Eve?
Could it be that Adam was given the commandment in Spirit, but Eve, being made of Adam in the flesh, was given the commandment in the flesh by Adam? And then the serpent can exploit it because the commandment came through the flesh?
I think this might be it. Adam knew better, and would have likely told the serpent to go pound sand. The serpent knew this.

Yes.. I think serpent would have tempted Adam also. If we look at Bible, Eve and serpent directly get into a conversation. I don't think Eve would have responded in that fashion to a total stranger. So probably there was a period of acquaintance. May be Adam was also tempted. He might have known better. But what puzzles me is this. If this was the case, then why Adam fell when Eve asked him to eat?

He loved his bride.
Love makes you do those kinds of things.
How does a husband stop his wife from sinning?adam failed his bride, he did not teach her, he did not protect her, He failed to be the head of the home...
I don't think the serpent truly did. This is still mere conjecture. If he did Adam would definitely warn the wife about this treacherous creature on the farm: 'Hello baby, do not pay attention to that serpent over there. It was trying to make me do the wrong thing.'. And Eve would have agreed to the husbandWho says he didn't? Just because something isn't mentioned in the Bible doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Maybe he had already tried tempting Adam, but he had not given in to tempation, so he tried tempting Eve. Maybe he was trying to tempt Eve first and would have tried tempting Adam if it hadn't worked. All we are told is that the serpent tempted Eve. We are not told what else happened or what didn't happen. I don't think we should read to much into it. The TOGWhy didn't the serpent (devil) tempt Adam? Why would he have to tempt and deceive Eve? wasn't adam out doing whatever kind of work they did in The Garden?
And the woman seeth that the tree is good for food, and that it is pleasant to the eyes, and the tree is desirable to make one wise, and she taketh of its fruit and eateth, and giveth also to her husband with her, and he doth eat;
