Why didn't the serpent (devil) tempt Adam? Why would he have to tempt and deceive Eve? Did he just abandon Adam?

I have 2 more threads about Adam. Will post them the next 14 hours. So busy and merry to do that now. Still celebrating Barça win...

Probably an attempt to explain why men are/were dominant over women because God gives men women to rule over you'll notice. It doesn't say anything about the serpent being the devil btw the connection was never there, though does say this in the Quran.

Could it be that Adam was given the commandment in Spirit, but Eve, being made of Adam in the flesh, was given the commandment in the flesh by Adam? And then the serpent can exploit it because the commandment came through the flesh?

They only had to do some work when they were thrown out of the Garden. It was meant to explain why humanity has a tough life.

Because Adam and Eve are a picture of Christ and his bride, the church.

We the church, like Eve, are the one's who have been deceived by sin. Christ, like Adam, took the sin of his bride upon himself knowingly.

I think this might be it. Adam knew better, and would have likely told the serpent to go pound sand. The serpent knew this.

Yes.. I think serpent would have tempted Adam also. If we look at Bible, Eve and serpent directly get into a conversation. I don't think Eve would have responded in that fashion to a total stranger. So probably there was a period of acquaintance. May be Adam was also tempted. He might have known better. But what puzzles me is this. If this was the case, then why Adam fell when Eve asked him to eat?

Who says he didn't? Just because something isn't mentioned in the Bible doesn't mean that it didn't happen. Maybe he had already tried tempting Adam, but he had not given in to tempation, so he tried tempting Eve. Maybe he was trying to tempt Eve first and would have tried tempting Adam if it hadn't worked. All we are told is that the serpent tempted Eve. We are not told what else happened or what didn't happen. I don't think we should read to much into it.

He loved his bride.

Love makes you do those kinds of things.

Did Adam get deceived that he is doing it in the name of Love? Because,

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

adam failed his bride, he did not teach her, he did not protect her, He failed to be the head of the home...
How does a husband stop his wife from sinning?

My desire for my wife NOT to be in sin by helping her understand Biblical truths may well be the very thing that destroyed our relationship. It was met with stubborn resistance...just like talking to an unbeliever, though she professed to be a Christian.

This popular teaching in the church today that the man is what makes his wife and kids godly, and if they're not it's his fault, is very bad teaching. Very bad.

I'm convinced the best way to understand the account is to see it as a foreshadow of Christ and the church. We all seem to agree Adam knew what he was doing, but did it anyway. When you see what Adam did as knowingly entering into taking the same penalty for disobedience upon himself that his wife was going to get you can see how it's a picture of Christ who knowingly took the penalty of his wife's sin, the church, upon himself.

I don't think the serpent truly did. This is still mere conjecture. If he did Adam would definitely warn the wife about this treacherous creature on the farm: 'Hello baby, do not pay attention to that serpent over there. It was trying to make me do the wrong thing.'. And Eve would have agreed to the husband

The main reason I feel satan tempted Eve was because Adam did not respond even though he was there he remained silent.

Below is the thread I said I was gonna create. However part of it has already been asnwered. If need be it would be moved.:

Why blame Adam?

I don't think there is a bible verse that blames Adam for not being there when the serpent came and deceived Eve. I think it is our thought that Adam wasn't there for her - the reason we blame him. Was Adam supposed to be regularly with Eve? No, I would say. Adam was the higher authority and was supposed to provide for the wife. As a man Adam had gone to work or maybe hunt or pluck some fruits somewhere for the wife and for himself. He must take care of Eden.

Gen 1:28
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

It wasnt always necesssary that Adam must always be home with the wife, maybe the two playing soccer, doing hide and seek and whatever. He had to go take care of the animals and plants and do other stuff.

So Eve at times stayed at home (except for the periods the two went on skuba divving or squirrel hunting etc), taking care of whatever they had. This is just a thought.
Whatdoyouthink?

The Bible blames the deceitfulness of sin, not Adam, for Eve's deception.

Sin that seized "the opportunity afforded by the commandment" (Romans 7:8 NIV)

wasn't adam out doing whatever kind of work they did in The Garden?

It doesn't read that way to me. One second, I'll fetch the Scripture...

And the woman seeth that the tree is good for food, and that it is pleasant to the eyes, and the tree is desirable to make one wise, and she taketh of its fruit and eateth, and giveth also to her husband with her, and he doth eat;

"Gen 3:6 YLT"

Looks to me like he was there, was silent as his wife was tempted, didn't say anything, didn't correct her in her misunderstanding and didn't stand up for what he knew was the Word of God as given to him directly. He finalized the judgment error(s) with his action by following the woman's example over following what God had warned him about when she gave him the fruit, "and he doth eat".
