Why do feel we have to market salvation as free? What are we really appealing to in a man?

It's called the good news for a reason, D.

I don't correct people for rejoicing in the free gift of God. That must never wane in a person. I correct people for not moving on to maturity, as Paul does in his letters.

No where that I'm aware of do we see God telling us to forget about the free gift of redemption. But I do see in scripture what happens to the person who does...

2 Peter 1:8-9
8For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.

Never forget. Never stop rejoicing in the free gift that you have received from God.

No, I rejoice that I know Him, and the fellowship of his sufferings.

I think what you mean is some are still sucking the milk knowledge of the gospel and have not moved on to the meat of the word of righteousness.

As necessary as it is that believers do that, that in no way means we are to stop rejoicing in and remembering the free gift that we have received and praising God for it. Peter says the person who does that is signified by the very lack of obedience you rail against.

You don't do righteous things in order to become righteous. Justification/salvation/eternal life is a free gift. For example, D. says you have to forgive to be forgiven as if you receive forgiveness in return for forgiving others. No, forgiveness of others is not what justifies a person. Faith in God's forgiveness does that ALL BY ITSELF apart any righteous work performed.

She's upset that some Christians don't live lives of obedience to God but stay emotional and stuck in the fact that they received justification/salvation for free and don't realize that they (supposedly) have to pay the price of obedience to have salvation. You don't get saved by being obedient.

confrontational? that's a interesting word in a forum and your correct i don't know you and you don't know me .

yet you included me in your post ... to me its just a forum see a person can start a post on the saving grace of GOD. IT MIGHT MAKE IT A FULL PAGE OF DISCUSSION " pardon the caps " and it may not even get past the o.p. .
