Why is there so much Anti-Semitism?

It seems to me that there is perhaps more sentiment hostile to Jews than any other people group. Martin Luther infamously wrote of "the Jews and their lies". He said,
The Jews are base, whoring people, that is, no people of God, and their boast of lineage, circumcision, and law must be accounted as filth.
They are full of devil's feces, which they wallow in like swine.
Their synagogue is a defiled bride, yes, an incorrigible whore and an evil slut.
He said that their synagogues should be lit on fire, prayer books destroyed, Rabbis forbidden to preach. He even advocated their slaying:
There is no other explanation for this than the one cited earlier from Moses - namely, that God has struck [the Jews] with 'madness and blindness and confusion of mind'. So we are even at fault in not avenging all this innocent blood of our Lord and of the Christians which they shed for three hundred years after the destruction of Jerusalem, and the blood of the children they have shed since then (which still shines forth from their eyes and their skin). We are at fault in not slaying them.
He was German of course, and so was Hitler, who said he had a God-given mission to slay the Jews. Why could he have thought this? Perhaps because one of the most famous theologians, from his own country, said to do so.

Anti-Semitism is still rampant, as seen in Holocaust denial. The level of hostility to the Jewish people seems to exceed that given to any or at least most other groups. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this tragedy is so?

Edward Dorothy Mae I didn't expect this thread to go this way. The Jews were/are not "dumb". Nor did they hate Jesus. It's comments like that that contribute to the world's anti-semitism.
The world isn’t full of anti-semitism. It just isn’t. They’re not hated more than any other group and down through time. I’ve been to a lot of other countries and seen prejudice of one group sometimes race against another.

Can you supply some impartial data on this? I mean you to quote a man from the middle ages to prove your assumption. How about someone from this year?

Shall we call up people of jewish descent who held high and honored positions among their peers to disprove you? Won’t be hard.

The mission he chose them for is completed and he never said they were dumb.

But since that’s your eschatology. can you find me scriptures in Revelation that say this?

Their mission is not complete yet. The Gospel has not been preached to the entire world yet. But we're close! But the great tribulation the way it reads to me is almost entirely about Israel and the Jews. There's going to be a remnant of 144,000 of them (12,000 from each tribe) that...have some pretty hairy last days adventures. That's most of it in a nutshell. Give me a few and I can locate some scriptures for you. It may be a few cuz I have a couple things to go do. But maybe someone else knows off the top of their head the revelation scriptures...?

Just because they were dumb and hated Jesus doesn't mean that they are not still God's chosen people. That's HIS choice!

Dumb is my words. God didn't call them dumb. And they were too in my opinion. They had the only man in the world who could make wine out of water, and they Killed Him!! No corporate foresight there, lol!!

I don't think you know what you're talking about. The Jews hated Jesus. They tried to throwm off the cliff and He had to supernaturally hide Himself from them to get away...because, now is not the time, later. You've read this. It's in Luke 4. Jesus went to the synogogue on the sabbath to teach, and they didn't like His teaching or sayings so they got mad and marched Him to the edge of a cliff and wanted throw Him off. They hated Him.

Luke 4:28-32
28 And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

29 And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.

30 But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days.

32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.../

When you have 5000 angry Jews wanting to throw you off a cliff, where can you hide? Nowhere, they had HIm. And He just strolled away, lol. Supernaturally of course.

Want more scriptures? Oh yes the Jews hated Jesus. Most still do I think? Pilate didn't even want to crucify Him, but the Jews wouldn't shut up, crucify Him crucify Him!

You realize that this about 1% of the total number of Jews on the planet, only 1%. The 99% will be lost.

I don't get it, I mean Jewish is a ethnicity and I don't understand why always get picked on. I met and know people with Jewish heritage and they nice caring people would do anything to help others, just like in every ethnicity there is nice caring people. Why do Jewish people get labelled and picked on it makes no sense to me. Jesus was Jewish from the tribe of Judah and I like Jesus.
Hebrew is an ethnicity. Being a jew is just being part of the religion, sorta like a muslim or like us. Just because grandma was a practicing jew, doesn't make her descendant a Hebrew, just like how my grandchildren aren't by default Christian just because I was.

If you are genuinely confused about the woes that befall them, then you need not look any further than their leadership. Using jewish influence/money to get "Judea declares war on Germany!" written in a super popular newspaper before WW2 even started was a begging provocation that a certain crazy that was in Adolf was certain to respond to.

The bottom line is respect. Do I take my trillion dollars and move to the US and try and turn it into socialist Canada and expect no consequences? How about if I was Chinese? Is it ok for me to move to New Zealand with my trillion dollars there and use all means I can to turn it into a little China? I would be a fool to think that I am free and clear to do that, even if I successfully lobbied for laws to say it was ok.

Even if we trust that account, Jesus had blasphemed by calling himself God. According to Torah, blasphemers were to be stoned, and one method of stoning was pushing someone off a cliff into sharp rocks. His crucifiers were mostly the religious leaders and Romans anyway, and the crowd of Jews hardly represents the whole population. Besides, the Gospel authors themselves were biased against "unbelieving" Jews.

Already done. 1 in 4 Jews in America experienced discrimination for their Jewish identity, and 39% changed attire to hide it to avoid discrimination.

How many Americans experience discrimination? Are the Jews really higher than others? Without a comparison, that is worthless.

  • Nearly half (45%) of African Americans experienced racial discrimination when trying to rent an apartment or buy a home.
  • 18% of Asian Americans say they have experienced discrimination when interacting with police. Indian-Americans are much more likely than Chinese-Americans to report unfair police stops or treatment.
  • Nearly 1 in 5 Latinos have avoided medical care due to concern of being discriminated against or treated poorly.
  • 34% of LGBTQ Americans say they that they or a friend have been verbally harassed while using the restroom.
  • 41% of women report being discriminated against in equal pay and promotion opportunities.

Sorry but African Americans are the most discriminated group in the US. Second are women.

Jews are not number 1. Move on, your OP statement is false.

Okay, Dorothy, "Can you supply some impartial data on this?" Yes.

Edward My Jewish co-worker (Reform Judaism) is perhaps the most intelligent person I know. He shows no hatred toward Christianity or Christ. Just because a people group rejects someone's Messianic claims does not mean that they hate this person. To characterize a people group as "dumb" is considered discrimination. Here, both religious and racial.

By the way, the Gospel of John, with its repeated references to "the Jews", fuels this issue, albeit potentially unwittingly.

Why how reformed of you

I'm sure that reformed has some specific special meaning to it, but I dunno what it is.

All I was saying is that they was dumb to have killed the only man who could make wine out of water. If your bst buddy could make wine from water, would you kill him?

So what I said had more homor in it than anything. Aint no deep hidden biases against anyone.
