Hello all,
I'm just asking for a little bit of prayer. It's been a pretty heavy couple of weeks. Some of you may know that my (step) Mom is terminal and has been brought home to pass. She is in good spirits and is doing better than the doctors anticipated, but isn't expected to make it through the weekend. I traveled across the country last week to be with family through this time of transition.

My wife got sick Friday and by Saturday she pretty well suspected she had Covid. Her test came back yesterday and of course, it's positive. She is doing ok, but is getting worse each day, but is being well taken care of by our son, who will most assuredly get Covid next if he hasn't already gotten it. Neither of them have received the vaccine. I am going to have him take my wife to the ER today and try and get a jump on the virus.

Personally, I am doing good and God is holding my head together and my faith is being strengthened as I am drawn deeper into God's presence. I am at peace have not been shaken. God has equipped me for this trial and it is Christ who is giving me the strength help those around me each day. God is using me in some pretty amazing ways with my family and I find it a blessing to doing the work of our Father.

Praying that your wife gets well and your son who is caring for her, too!

I'm sorry to hear that your mother is dying :( how awful.

Praying that God will give you comfort, peace, and good outcomes to these situations.

Such a lit of things to bear at the same time Jeff.
I am not surprised that you are coping with it all so well . Your great faith will see you through. God is amazing how He strengthens us and gives us that precious peace.
Praying for you, your wife and don and for your mom. The Lord is right there with you.
God Bless and keep you and your family in His every loving arms.

May the Lord's healing grace sweep through your family and bring you all through this to stronger place in the Kingdom. May the Lord give you wisdom and peace in each decision you make for your family.

Thank you everyone.
I haven’t spoken to my wife today yet, but she was having a rough day yesterday when I spoke to her. Our eldest son is taking care of her and I believe he is now showing symptoms, which was inevitable. As an FYI, my wife is a rural mail carrier and we always said it was a matter of when, and not if. We both dodged it several times recently.

Mom is doing well and really isn’t showing the signs of hospice we expected. She is alert and her mind is sharp and she isn’t sleeping all day. Instead, she is up most of the day. Dr said she would more than likely only last two, maybe three days... seven days at the max. Tomorrow will be a week at home with no nutrition and neglegable fluid intake and you can’t really tell.

This could be a time for sadness, but I am reminded of Jesus words when he is asked why his disciples don’t fast on the Sabbath. There will be time for mourning, but now isn’t that time. Today is a day to rejoice.

You are all amazing and brave. It's good you are able to enjoy each other. Every moment is precious.

Praymg your wife and son make a speedy recovery.
There is much love coming to you from your forum. We are all with you in spirit.

on a comedic note ,the lowered Drummond ,ya should buy it for her

Thanks Tessa
I just heard from my wife and she is worse today than yesterday. Her fever is back and her body aches. She did say her lungs and breathing are doing well, so let’s just pray she turns the corner soon as today is day 8 for her.

We’re having a BBQ at my Moms today. It’s a beautiful day with blue skies and temps in the mid 70s. We’re going to see if we can’t get Mom out in the sunlight. She is really enjoying the family being up, I think especially her Sister who’s been here since Tuesday.

Yesterday Mom had a lot of energy and was using her walker. It was good to see her moving about, but I also know she is on borrowed time and that burst of energy is a sign that she is nearing her end. I hope it was just her excitement over teaching her grand daughter how to cook her famous hot sauce. I don’t even know how to cook it, but it takes all day to make and it’s been a favorite of the family since I can remember.

Wow your mom is a fighter she must be very inspiring. Glad you all have good weather to enjoy a BBQ. Treasure every second.
Sorry your wife is worse. I think it is a good sign that her lungs are not being effected. How is your son doing?
Praying for you all.

Wife’s oxygen level is at 96. She’ll go to the hospital if it gets below 95. She says her chest is heavy, but she is doing fine.
Our son is doing good. He wants to go to a group tonight and I was like “NO”. He feels good, but the last thing he should be doing is going anywhere!

As far as Mom being a fighter, she’s tough. Hey, she’s put up with my Dad for this many years lol! Seriously, it’s good to see them with such affection toward each other.

Great photo! Lovely to see that affection. Goid to see you haven't lost your sense of humour :lol
Hope your son doesn't go anywhere. I'm asking The Father to bring healing to your wife. Hoping she won't need the hospital
God Bless you Jeff.

I just wanted to give an update.
Mom is doing much better than expected. The Dr said she would survive a week at the most, but more than likely only a few days when she was released from ICU 9 days ago. God is so good.
She has not eaten since she’s been home and her fluid intake is sparse. We were talking about food yesterday and she had popcicle. She absolutely loves steak, so I went and got the best Ribeye and put it on the BBQ. While she couldn’t eat it, she really, really enjoyed savoring each bite in her mouth before removing it from her mouth. Yesterday was a really good day and if things continue in this direction she may have a few good weeks ahead of her.

As far as my wife, her Oxygen levels dropped to 88 after a short walk in the house and she has been battling the worst headache ever. Our son demanded to take her to the ER and they kept her for probably 6 or 7 hours and gave her an IV to rehydrate her and administer some pain meds, anti viral and steroids. Michigan is so overwhelmed with Covid cases I am just happy they had room to take her in. So many hospitals are at or near capacity in Michigan they just give the IV and send you home and tell you to come back in a few days if your not getting better which frees up a bed for the next patient that comes in.

Your mom is doing brilliant. God is blessing you all for sure. About the steak you are very thoughtful Jeff. Your mom is one lucky lady. Really glad she enjoyed tasting. Another great memory for you.
Michigan hospitals seem to be struggling. Glad your wife was taken in for the treatment. God be with her and you and yours.
Still praying.

When God brings us to it He will see us through it. God brought you to help with your mom and family matters and has graced you favorably as being around family and the love that is there among all of you. Not only praying for your mom, but your wife and son also that God's healing power is flowing through them as He restores them both back to health. Even in our darkness hours there will always be a testimony of God's mercy and grace and we can see that in your family as everyone has come together to be with your Step Mom. God bless all of you and may she be at peace soon.

When our son had to go on a liquid diet, we fed him bone/beef/chicken/vegetable broths and Ensure. Pedialyte minerals.
