Hey All,
Please take a closer look at verses 3-4.
[3] And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[4] Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Conversion (salvation) comes first. Then "and become as little children." So humility is not a work to receive salvation. It is a result of salvation. There are no works one can do to earn salvation. Salvation is the gift of God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Salvation is by the grace of God, through the gift of faith, that God supplies, in His Son Jesus. Nobody can brag that they earned their salvation.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Now what does it mean to become as little children? Think about the traits of little children.
1. They are curious.
2. They are growing.
3. They rely on mom and dad for everything.
4. They are learning.
Curiousity:
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Growth:
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Reliance:
1 Peter 5:6-7 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Learning:
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
If we, as believers, humble ourselves by putting God first in our lives, then God will exalt us in heaven.
EXALT', egzolt'. Low L. exalto ex and altus, high.
To raise high to elevate.
Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz
