Works for Salvation: Humility

Hey All,
Notice how many of your posts start with faith? Salvation first, then baptism. Read the verses you cite. I am going to address only one of them because your declaration is incorrect.

1 Peter 3:20-21 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

The answer is in the verses. "Were disobedient" is past tense which carries with it the presumption that now they are not disobedient. Peter writes of Noah being saved by water. This is a physical saving in that Noah and his family were still alive. Peter is comparing Noah's physical salvation to the believer's water baptism.
How do I know that?
Read the verse. READ! (Yes it does get frustrating saying read over and over again.)
" . . . (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) . . . " Do you understand this? Baptism does not cause us to be forgiven. Grace through faith in Jesus is what puts away, "the filth of the flesh." Baptism is, "the answer of a good conscience toward God,)" Baptism comes after we are conscious of God's work in us. Baptism does not complete the work of God. Baptism is a public confession of the faith we have been given.

Keep walking everybody.

Baptism is the cos of forgiveness of sins acts 22:16
Acts 2:38-39 “this promise”
A promise from God is a sacred oath and that’s a sacrament
Ez 36:25-27 the water washes and make clean white as snow

Thanks

No baptism no grace!
No union with God and His saints thru Christ the mediator!

A sacrament is an outward sign for all men including infants And a gift from God to help us see what he does inwardly and invisibly by his grace!

As grace Washes our souls in the merits of Jesus blood from original and personal sin, so the outward action of washing is visible!

without the outward action the inward action cannot take place!

Jn 3:5 Titus 3:5 water and washing
acts 22:16 wash away your sin!

Jn 3:5 Born again BY water and the spirit! Not by “faith alone”!

They did not go to Jerusalem and preach “accept Christ as you’re personal Lord and savior “

They went to the river (water) and they baptized! Jn 3:22

A covenant requires an outward sign of the inward action of grace!

Ez 36:25 I will sprinkle you with clean water and you shall be made white as snow.

Acts 22:16 washing away your sins.

Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism.

1 pet 3:21 baptism saves you.

You cannot enter on your own or by faith alone! Jn 3:5

2 pet 1: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Heb 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

Hey All,
Those verses are your absolute best evidence?
I already addressed Luke 18:14 somewhere in a previous post. So I am not going over it again.

I believe I addressed 1 Peter 5:5 as well. But this one is easy. Let's go over it in detail.

1 Peter 5:5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

1. To whom is Peter addressing his remarks?
Believers. These are people who have received grace through faith in Jesus.
2. To whom are they subject?
Each other. Or other believers.
2a. How are these believers to be clothed?
With humility. A believer should have a humble spirit.
2b. Why a humble spirit?
Because we know our salvation is all God's work and none of our own. None of us can say, "Look what I did to achieve my salvation." I dare say a proud Christian has an incorrect perspective of what being believer means.
3. Who gives the grace?
God.

I get to ask a question now.

2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

These are Peter's very last written words to believers.
Who, or what, is doing the growing?
This is not the physical growth of the believer. This means learn learn. Understand the grace we have been given.
What is it?
What is it for?
Why do we need it?
Why do we need to grow in it?
How does faith factor into the salvation solution?
What is faith?
Whose faith is it?
Why do I need it?
Can I grow in faith as well?

I dare say say that if you can Scripturally answer these questions, you will begin to understand the meaning and usage of grace and faith.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,

That’s pure mental illness!

It is “impossible” for some to be alone and at the same time not alone!

It is NOT faith that saves us!

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved!
Hi, Not at all.

The Faith that is alone is not yours...its Christ's, his faith or faithfulness.

Read Gal 2:16 in the kjv. Also look up the actual word.

KJV Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

No its not impossible, you just did not understand or read my analogy.

Is Christ the deliverer? Yes Christ is the Salvation. Is He alone? YES . BUT NO ONE IS SAVED WITHOUT HIM.

Therefore the faith that saves is Christ's faith or faithfulness
Not anyone elses, so alone. But by itself it saves no one. If His faithfulness saves it has to save someone, therefore not alone.

As the Analogy I'VE given: THE ARK ALONE SAVES OR IS SALVATION THEIR DELIVERENCE. ALONE IT SAVES NO ONE.
When it saves it's not alone because people got in the ark.

ANOTHER WORDS AS A Noun Jesus is our Salvation, as A verb to be saved by Him

Is there salvation found in anyone elses name but Jesus?
So hope you understood

where does scripture say we are members of Christ and his church by “faith alone”?

How can you enter by your own if it must be ministered to you? Baptism is done unto you, “not do it yourself by faith alone”

Ministered by the apostolic church!

2 Corinthians 8:19
And not that only, but who was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:

hi, did you know Salvation could be a verb or a noun

Like the Ark
It can mean your deliverence is near
Well if they were sleep, they would be delivered from being sleep.

The ark was the people's salvation
Their deliverence was near.

You also can be saved from many things
Another words you can be saved- delivered from disease, saved in child bearing, saved from a car accident. Etc

Dallas would say something like this: Why is it we think of Salvation as one moment in time instead of everyday life we receive from God?

God wants to save the whole body, soul, and spirit as well.
And did you know that He can save you by forgiving you of your past sins, present sins, and future sins.

Did you know in Ephesians that 2:8 that saved there is from being dead in sin?

Did you know that continual forgiveness can be as we continually walk by the Spirit

Please read the full context for yourself try not to read into passage what your doctrine teachings. And tell us what "salvation" means in that context.

One interpretation is that God is near, He has got your back.
While they are "citizens" in heaven they still have to live here on earth subjected to the Rulers or Authorities over them even they're corrupt. If Salvation is near - then God is near- and He can deliver you as you do right under the rulers of the world.

God is our Salvation - is this a noun
And God can save you as you live under the corrupted Rulers rule.

So do you see that God CAN save you from present circumstances in this llife?

A BELIEVER CAN GO TO SLEEP AND CAN WAKE UP AND LIVE FOR GOD PUTTING OFF THE WORK OF DARKNESS. That's where our peace will come from. We are to yield ourselve to God because He is also coming back. It's about being in His presence. God is holy and wants to save the whole body Soul and Spirit.

If you go against the Spirit you will have a Guilty conscience because your life does not reflect the way of God. So would you have peace in the mist of persecution? And if He was to come back would one be ready seeing that one should purify themselves by the word?

Again:
Fourfold salvation: saved from the penalty, power, presence and most
importantly the pleasure of sin. (A.W. Pink)

So He is Admonishing them to be sold out.

Okay so I kind of got the Ideal that D is of the Church of Christ Doctrine.
So it seems it has become religious- a doctrine of belief systems one has to trust in and do in order to be saved. Rather than believing on the one Christ has sent.

So in his/her mind if you dont believe His doctrine then you going to Hell.

Therefore that is why He/SHE assumed I never was water Baptized.

But that didn’t make any sense either because I explained my view point in a totally different direction.

I said it was the faith of Jesus or faithfulness of Jesus that saves, and the mystery is right in the name Jesus Christ.

Plus I gave Act 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

Sense this is true and Galatians 2:16 kjv is true

knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

I did not see why I did not get any response to what I posted ..
First it was that was a response of "mental illness" and then I was wrongfully judged as not having been baptized?

Which makes me truly wonder if that person really understands water baptism at all?

Sounds like belief in a system of doctrines. And it has been written: John 10:9

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

I don’t remember
Please send it to me
I always agree with heb 11:6 faith is always a requirement
But not faith alone

Thanks
The faith of God is not without the power of God. Born again believers are living in bodies under the judgment of death Mankind has no power to raise one's own self to include Jesus.

Luke 4:23 And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

I thought our salvation was a person Jesus Christ! Lk 2:30 Jn 14:6

hi, did you know Salvation could be a verb or a noun

Jesus Christ is Our salvation:

Truth / doctrine Jn 14:6
Sacrifice / sacraments Jn 1:16-17 Jn 1:29
Christ is in His person is our salvation Lk 2:30

How can it be “faith alone” Christ is not a doctrine or set of beliefs but He is our Passover sacrifice and He is our salvation, His person, Lk 2:30 I have seen my Salvation!
We must have union with Christ by faith and baptism.

Are you denying the divinity of Christ?

Baptism intentions

Christian sacrament of baptism:

The cos of justification, the cos of union with God and His saints thru the mediator Jesus Christ being filled with sanctifying grace and Christian virtues! The begging of salvation, abiding in Christ and grace, enduring to the end!

Fundamentalist Protestant baptism:

Only a public confession of the faith by which you are already saved!
Or
Believers baptism which renders baptism meaningless!

Proper intention of valid baptism:

The initiation into the new covenant of grace unto the salvation of the soul, nicene creed, “one baptism for the forgiveness of sins”.

Brought to life. Jn 14:6 eph 2:1 quickened.

Jesus Christ the means of grace: Jn 1:16-17 Gal 3:27

Union with the body of Christ, the new covenant, the kingdom, the household of faith, the communion of saint thru Christ the mediator! 2 pet 1:11

Washed clean by God: ez 36:25-27

Sealed by God in the ark of salvation: eph 1:13

Already saved don’t need a pastor
Don’t need a father to care for our souls heb 13:7 and 13:17

1 pet 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

1 pet 2:20 For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

2 Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

2 Peter 1:5
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; (sound like faith alone to you?)

Salvation is the end of our faith not the beginning.

1 Peter 1:9
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Romans 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

The Christian life ends with salvation, it does not start with salvation!

Rom 13:11
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
1 pet 1:9
Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Mk 13:13
And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
Matt 24:13
But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Baptism washes away sin!
Acts 22;16 Titus 3:5
Titus 3:5-The washing is from the Holy Spirit
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,
That doesn't disprove this.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;

And clearly there is nothing you can add, as in works of humility, that makes you clean. If you are in Christ you are already clean.
