The real concern though for me is a verse that says that unless you are born again of the spirit you are not saved. Or other verses that say that if a person doesn't have the Holy Spirit in them, then they really aren't saved. The issue is I don't know if I am saved or not.

What makes you think you are not born again?

If you are born again, you have the Spirit of Christ in you.

Now you ready to be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

There's issues with the perspectives of saved by belief only, as opposed to being able to lose salvation. Both have points that get re-addressed often without agreeing on a conclusion.
The solution to this controversy of opposing sets of verses
has already been provided here, but who is able to see it?

It is called RECONCILING the 2 sets of NT verses.

A retired pentecostal pastor of 44 years sincerely thanked me
for revealing the solution, i.e. the reconciliation, which is ...
including obedience in with what "believe" really means.

True saving belief includes a lot, and results in a lot.

Please excuse me for repeating myself ...
"There is NO one English word which includes
all that is involved in the concept of truly
believing in Jesus and the gospel."

The issue I have is knowing if we have the Holy Spirit or not. For at least me I have faith in God, but I don't know if I have the Holy Spirit in me ... Guess the two points I'd like more focus on ... is to help each other out of sins, as well as to recognize what is from the Holy Spirit, or even how to connect and hear from the Holy Spirit.
If you have received the Holy Spirit INSIDE ...
you are what people call a born-again Christian (BAC).
He is endeavoring to lead you into all spiritual Truth.
And He is helping you daily in all kinds of unfathonable ways.
Sometimes, it is just via a thought to say or do something!

But I tell you the truth— it is better for you that I go away. For if I do not go away,
the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. And having come,
that One will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning righteousness, and concerning judgment—John 16:7-8
When John uses the word "world" ...
he is referring to the world of non-believers.

When John uses the word "world" ...
he is referring to the world of non-believers.

Incorrect assumption. Your evidence for changing what John actually said is _nill__???

Read it more carefully:

And having come, that One [The Holy Spirit] will convict the world concerning:
1. sin
2. righteousness
3. judgment

As a BAC do you know anything about sin, righteousness and judgment?

Jesus said two things are required to be born again in John 3:5.

---> What are those two things?

---> What do Christians call this ritual in which this occurs?

You married to the gal here who says our doctrine
is all messed up because of our grammar?
Many copious lols.
You're hilarious.
Let's just remember you put the word cowardly in bold and said that cowards are going to hell because you can't tell the difference between an adjective and a noun.
The Bible says we are sealed with the Spirit, so I'll take God's truth over your mixed up fear mongering any day.

I kinda want to know why you put inside in all caps as is there is an outside version. A Holy Spirit exo-skeleton? Actually, nevermind. I don't want to know.[/QUOTE]

Repent or you will perish.

That’s a warning.

If you practice the works of the flesh, you will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Another warning.

Like I said, the more you try to explain away the truth of the scriptures, the more you expose yourself.

It is not humanly possible to not practice works of the flesh when we are physically in the flesh. If we could attain perfection in these bodies Jesus would not have needed to be born of a woman, minister to the lost, heal the sick and eventually die for the sins of world.
I would be very careful before discounting His sacrifice.
We can't earn our salvation. Its a gift. No take backs.

I wasn't trying to give it an excuse like saying "it's just a habit." The term was used before by Senior. It's to employ sins that we don't let go of, like addictions that we hold on to. That said, I agree that habitual isn't a term in the bible. A more accurate term I think is that unrepentant sin is the cause to lose salvation. Habitual sinning is just a type of unrepentant sinning that has become the focus. At least that's my take on it.

Thanks for the link. There's issues with the perspectives of saved by belief only, as opposed to being able to lose salvation. Both have points that get re-addressed often without agreeing on a conclusion. So that's why I posted the thought of how to conquer our sins. How to get out of addictions and help each other out. Save each other from our sinning. This should be a point worth focusing on regardless if it counts for our salvation or not.

A second thought though, is something from the link. Believers receive the Holy Spirit, as soon as they believe. It's a guarantee of the promises to come. The problem with this is that I often don't know what is from the Holy Spirit, and what isn't . I doubt I'm alone on this, and have heard of many people leave their Christian roots because they haven't found God or recognize His influence through the Holy Spirit, or through Angels, or through answered prayers. The issue I have is knowing if we have the Holy Spirit or not. For at least me I have faith in God, but I don't know if I have the Holy Spirit in me.

Sorry for the ramble. Guess the two points I'd like more focus on in Christian communities is to help each other out of sins, as well as to recognize what is from the Holy Spirit, or even how to connect and hear from the Holy Spirit.

What issues are there? I am not aware of any. If the promise of eternal life is conditional on never sinning again don't you think Jesus would have said so. I mean even John 3:16 doesn't have any footnote about never sinning again lest you lose your salvation. Think of all those poor people who trusted Jesus only to end up in hell because Paul and his "dire warnings" hadn't come along yet. Come on, really?
As for community, its good to be in church to get encouragement or have a good friend to help remind you to avoid sin, but we're all going to be standing at the Judgement seat one day by ourselves. It is ultimately up to us to use the Holy Spirit and overcome.
Look up the list of the fruit of the Spirit vs works of the flesh. That should help you classify which voice is which.

Did they have a choice of whether to partake or not?

For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them. Ephesians 5:5-7

We all as born again Christians, who have the Spirit of God dwelling within us, have a choice whether to live according to the Spirit or live according the lustful desires of our flesh.

Christians who live according to the flesh, gratifying it’s sinful desires, will be partakers of God’s wrath along with the sons of disobedience.

  • Therefore do not be partakers with them.

The choice is yours.

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath
Romans 2:5-8

Peter gives us the divine prescription for success in living a life of godliness.

He has given us all things that pertain to life and godlinesss.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 2 Peter 1:2-9

It may mean that we turn off the TV, and social media, secular music and worldly activities and invest our time developing a strong spiritual life.

It may mean we say no to ungodly relationships and ungodly choices, and get serious about our eternal destiny.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. Galatians 6:7-8

  • but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Wrong wrong wrong. Romans 3:20 ephesians 2:8-9. Many others.
Hey look at this https://www.gotquestions.org/Romans-2-7-works-salvation.html

I asked:
Did they have a choice of whether to partake or not?

So yes, they did have a choice of whether to partake or not! I agree.

Do those who’s God’s wrath will fall upon them have a choice as to whether they will partake of God’s wrath or not?

Please do thouest rememberest that God's current prophets
and watchmen are warning today's dead and asleep churches
of the same dire warnings as I have been warning about
from the NT ... Ignore us @ your risk, is all I have to say.

Yes, there's an OUTSIDE version, and it's clear in the NT: UPON.
But, UPON is BEYON you, as is much else!

1 John 3:7-9 King James Version (KJV)
7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth (practices all the time } sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit (practice } sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
