Im at the dock and I don't think the old man is that concerned. I been sniffing and sneezed a couple of times and looked over and he did not seem concerned. The wind is very strong and blowing the other way from him anyhow.

But I don't have corona, I work on the farms and I got allergy. It's summer season. Mowing long dry grass and all the pollen.

I'm becoming a germaphobe. Coronavirus has made me hyper aware of potentials risks like others coughing in my presence.
I already have some OCD traits.

You will get over it. Many people phobe out to start. I mean many people phobed out after the Sep 11 attacks when a few islamists flipped out.

And since then there has only been 36,511 other terrorist attacks around the world since then.

You even dont hear about it on the mainstream news anymore, it just common like the common flu, so there is nothing to fear.

In the past week there has only been 31 terrorist attacks, with 160 people killed, 323 people injured, in 11 countries.

The report out of Italy was harrowing.
The lady who tried to take her 60 yo mother to the hospital...but it was too full and they told her they weren't going to waste their rescources on her. She wasn't going to live anyway. They were trying to just treat those they thought might survive with treatment...not enough oxygen masks and ventilators to go around...not enough hospital beds or rooms. Everywhere there is a travel ban and you can get arrested if caught.

Just a few are allowed into grocery stores at a time.

And if you are sick... nope.

It's coming to a country near you.

Most cases of COVID-19 are reportedly “mild,” but that term can be misleading. As the World Health Organization adviser Bruce Aylward clarified last week, a “mild” case of COVID-19 is not equivalent to a mild cold. Expect it to be much worse: fever and coughing, sometimes pneumonia—anything short of requiring oxygen. “Severe” cases require supplemental oxygen, sometimes via a breathing tube and a ventilator.

What will you do if you start coughing? The writers suggest that people think through a plan.

A British health-care worker shared a message from a doctor in Italy, who alleged that covid-19 patients in their hospital who are over 65, or have complicating conditions, aren’t even being considered for the most intensive forms of supportive treatment.

Its begun. They are running out of capacity in Italy, and there are reports of senior citizens being abandoned.

Despite early exposure, Singapore and Hong Kong have kept their caseloads low, not by completely shutting down large swaths of their economies as China did but through aggressive personal hygiene and “social distancing.” South Korea seems to be getting its initial outbreak under control using similar measures.

Anyone noticed many sick Americans wearing masks, or even covering their mouths when they cough? What worked in Asia may not be followed by very many people here. Over there wearing a mask while sick is considered the polite thing to do. America doesn't have the shared social responsibility culture that Asia has. Its more of every man for himself.

With typical American hygiene habits, this thing could spiral out of control if it gets past the initial lines of defense. Since almost no one is yet immune, figure that if someone is sitting next to a person who coughs without covering their mouth, they are probably contagious too now.

Pray for protection for the Lord's people.

Wait, what do you mean by there's a travel ban everywhere? Just everywhere in Italy or everywhere in the world? Either way traveling (or at least long distance) is a very unwise decision right now.

All of Italy is under lockdown. Some parts of the USA too. The national guard is enforcing a lockdown in
part of New York. No one in without permission, and no one out without permission of a quarantined neighborhood. Its starting to get serious.

USA Today said:
Cuomo announced plans to enforce a "containment area" for a 1-mile radius around the center of the cluster, an area of Westchester County that includes much of the city of New Rochelle and stretches into the town of Eastchester. As of Tuesday afternoon, the state had 174 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, second only to Washington state.

Iran had almost 1,000 new cases yesterday...
Spain added almost 500 new cases.
USA had 22 because we really don't know because we don't have the tests and are not really testing anyone in big numbers like smaller countries are.

Almost like Venezuela...they haven't been allowed to test or tell even though all the surrounding countries are reporting incidences of the virus.

Where Italy has reported no new cases...I don't think that is accurate. I think that they have stopped reporting because of the full hospitals.

That, isn't what they are doing .if live there ,and want to visit those that aren't infected ,you can. Hardly a concern ,like it sounds .
We lock down the beaches like that every hurricane after damage happens .

Panic .

Indeed.

Im sure somehow panic via crashing the economy and martial law and spending somehow will stop this virus, basically, that article in short

If this was as mild as a case of influenza there would be nothing to worry about.
But we have vaccines and antivirals for the flu.

Apples and Oranges comparison here.

At least 12% of the Corona infected require oxygen and intubation. 3-4% will die. The percentages of those over 50 are lousy...over 60 and you better have your will updated. Over 70 and get your phone out to text message people goodbye. You won't be able to breathe well enough to talk.

That's the real problem.

Makes sense. Even though I have currently been having earaches, at least I know that it definitely could be worse. The states are probably next. I just got word today that the Saint Patrick's Day in Cleveland has been canceled so there will have to be some random past parade on the seventeenth in my Saint Paddy's Day thread.

So,then board up the world ,hide ,do go to church, out at all.here the average age in my county is 55 plus .we cater to retirees.

No,work ,don't pay taxes and watch how fast the state simply stops.
Even the cdc has said that banning out door meetings ,isn't going to work .

I,have literally watched ambulance place a few of my customers in body bags while I threw their paper .

Dead customers.
Mrs,dobek.
Mrs Chisholm,
Mrs liddick
The vet who killed himself
The person who I saw leave in a body bag but can't remember the name
Marjorie new jennings .

All in,that age category ,some are snow birds.so while I'm,for precaution ,everyone buying masks will help Spread it .

Tell me how is shutting down tourism gonna fund help here?

Also you forget in my stare its already in the edge of the heat ,I will start sweating balls by 0730 am.

Flu season is over by may. The corona virus will be killed by that too ,no cases near the ,equator.

I'm not afraid of death ,if its my time ,no doctor, pray ,will stop it.I didn't hide in war ,panic ,I did my duties, watched war movies, joked, ran pt,ate, slept .

It will be no different here .

Oh btw for the record,.. even though I will be taking precautions like everybody else, I'm pretty sure that I won't get this. I never had the flu and I'm actually really healthy. Like Michael74 stated before, even if I got it,.. only being thirty years old probably means that it would be very mild unlike if an elderly person had it. Hopefully it'll just be gone by summertime so I can go out and enjoy all of the beautiful weather and do all of the things that I do in the summertime.

I wish and hope what you are saying comes true. (About May ending flu season and Corona)
But the thing about the equator isn't true.
